Garden Update

Here is the before:

Watching the garden grow has actually been really fulfilling for Colby and I. We have enjoyed tending, watering, and pruning it. It is amazing that one little tiny seed can be put in the ground and can grow into a plant.

Good 'Ol Oklahoma

Image
During Colby's two weeks of summer break we went to Oklahoma to visit Mammah. I absolutely loved being there and was actually very content to relax and enjoy the nature. I spent most mornings and evenings sitting on the porch, listening and watching birds and enjoying conversation. It didn't take Cooper very long to warm up to Mammah and Aunt Joyce. Of course, toys and popsicles did help a little.

Image
Mammah had a little blow up pool that Cooper had a blast in. He could have stayed in there for hours.

Aunt Joyce surprised Cooper with this fun toy: a Buzzlightyear car! It took him a while to figure it out, but then he loved it and loved getting pushed around on it.

Image
Cooper also enjoyed the porch swing.

Greta was Cooper's best friend on the farm. He loved to follow her around and thought it was so funny when he would find her sitting somewhere in the house. Thank you Greta for being such a good sport.

My camera died after these pictures, so I'll have to put more up when I get them from Colby's mom. One day we went to a water park in Oklahoma City. I had a lot of fun, since I hadn't been to a water park in years. My favorite rides were the tall, steep slides that take about 2 seconds to slide down - so fun!
Now we are back to our normal lives of school, work, and Cooper. I'm determined to have a good summer and am trying to get to a pool as often as I can. Especially since I will be having surgery on both of my ankles soon. The doctor that I work for will be the one doing the surgery, he is going to remove an Os Trigonum that has bothered me for years. I am happy to have it done, but am dreading the recovery.

Fly and Fling

Image
This past weekend we went to a community Fly and Fling. It was pretty cool to see all of the kites and watch some professionals with their stunt kites. It was a hot day, so we didn't stay for too long, but Cooper liked watching the kites in the sky.

Image
Cooper is getting smarter everyday. He has started trying to put these rings back onto the stand. It usually takes him a long time, but once he gets it he will clap his hands and smile.

ImageThis kid still loves bath time and is always driving me crazy by standing up in the tub.

Image
Lately Cooper has started jabbering and using the "ga", "ta", and "ck" sounds. It is so fun to hear him talk!

Our Garden

So we decided to plant our very first garden this year! It took a while for us to dig up the grass, get the soil tilled and plant the seeds, but it is all done now. Hooray! We are not sure if anything is going to grow or not, but hopefully it will at least be a learning experience.

Getting there...

We visited my Mom and Dad on Mother's day weekend. Colby studied for his finals and I got to spend a lot of time with Cooper and Mom. Cooper played with some hand-me-down toys from Tyler and Whitney's kids and he learned a new trick:

Image
I couldn't believe how fast he picked it up and was able to walk smoothly with it. Now we'll see how long it takes for him to start walking with out any help ( I hope it's not too soon!).

Image
Here are a couple more pictures that I think look just like my Dad. What do you think?

ImageImageI think he was moving in this picture, so his head is a little warped, but still has a Dad expression.

Sadly these are the only pictures I took all weekend. I should have taken so many more... it is always so hard to take pictures while visiting family.

Pulling up

Cooper's new trick is pulling up! He did it the first time on the couch and now he is a pro at pulling up on just about anything. He has gotten a few new toys lately and loves them! Michelle and Tim gave Cooper this little music and learning table.

ImageCooper absolutely loves it. He is such a dancer. Anytime he hears music, he starts to bob up and down, move his shoulders and sometimes wave his hands too.

Image
The Johnny Jump Up is an old toy that we started using again lately.

Image
He used to just sway in it, but now he has the hang of it and jumps and spins. Sadly, he will only stay in it for about 10 minutes but he seems to have a lot of fun.

A new toy for Colby and I is the Wii! Colby loves the old Mario games and think it is awesome to play them again. Colby's family came over one day and all the boys had fun playing Mario Cart (even Cooper).

Image
He kept crawling into the middle of all the boys and tried to get their attention by yelling and griping at them.
