Student Elections at UNC
Student democracy is powered by you. Student elections are where Tar Heel voices are really heard.
At Carolina, we share in one of the most storied student governments in the world. Through 230 years of student self-government, we the students have learned to advocate for ourselves, defend our ideas while respecting disagreement, and lead for a better tomorrow in the face of powers that don’t care about us.
Twice-annual elections are the core of UNC’s student democracy. In elections, students select the principal organs of UNC’s Student Government and the Residence Hall Association (RHA). Student Elections also select roles like the Homecoming Court and determine whether key Student Government proposals, like constitutional amendments, are adopted.
Student Elections are facilitated by the Board of Elections, an independent agency of UNC’s Student Government dedicated to protecting and promoting student democracy at UNC. Your Board currently consists of undergraduates Eli North (Chair), Lucy Nowland, and Anna Lynch, graduate members Sabrina Rahim and Siyan Chen, and one currently vacant graduate seat.
