We’ve been to ECSO CISOs Meetup in Valencia

Aneta Trojanowska represented Electrum at the ECSO CISO Meetup, held on September 23–24, 2025, in Valencia.

The event’s fourth edition brought together nearly 300 Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) from across Europe. Set against the backdrop of the extraordinary Museo de las Ciencias Príncipe Felipe, participants shared knowledge and analyzed case studies of major security incidents. They also tested realistic threat scenarios based on designed security systems and discussed sector-specific challenges.

The meeting provided a valuable opportunity for direct dialogue with national and European administration officials. Furthermore, it created a forum to examine the implications of new EU cybersecurity regulations. These discussions went beyond the requirements of the NIS2 directive. Key topics also included supply chain security, the challenges posed by AI and quantum computing, and OT environment security.

Cybersecurity is an ongoing process that requires constant monitoring, assessment, maintenance, and reinforcement,” emphasizes Dr. (Col. ret.) Aneta Trojanowska, Head of Security at Electrum. “Therefore, it is crucial to systematically track changes across the entire security ecosystem, identify threats and trends, and foster digital security awareness. Forums like the ECSO CISO Meetup allow us to not only compare experiences with leaders from other sectors but also to seek joint solutions for growing challenges.

The mission of the ECSO CISO Meetup aligns with our core belief that an effective response to threats demands collaboration across industry segments and between partners from various sectors. Analyzing case studies, sharing knowledge, and jointly testing solutions. All of it enhances the resilience of not just the energy ecosystem but also of its interconnected domains.

Cyberseciurity at Electrum

At Electrum, we treat cybersecurity as a foundational element. We operate at the intersection of development, engineering, and energy infrastructure operation. We build and monitor the largest renewable energy facilities in Poland, implementing our own proprietary solutions to optimize plant performance. Consequently, in an era of escalating cyber threats to the energy sector, we do not view security as an add-on. It is an integral part of our operational strategy.

Electrum renews ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications

Electrum has once again confirmed the compliance of its management system with three international ISO standards as part of a standard recertification process. This step highlights our ongoing commitment to the highest quality, environmental responsibility, and workplace safety.

The certifications in question are ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.

What are ISO standards?

ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is an independent, international body that develops standards recognized and applied worldwide. Their aim is to provide best practices, support sustainable development, and facilitate cooperation between organizations across industries and countries. We also wrote about ISO and the ISO 9001 standard in this article – during the certification of Everto ApS, a company within the Electrum Group.

ISO certification is valid for three years, with annual surveillance audits conducted to confirm the ongoing compliance of processes and procedures.

ISO 14001 – Environmental Management

At Electrum, we are acutely aware of the pace at which global climate and environmental challenges are growing. That’s why we believe ISO 14001 is fundamental today. Its purpose is to protect the environment and support sustainable development by systematically reducing the negative impact of an organization’s activities. The standard promotes pollution reduction, efficient resource management, improved waste handling, and emission reduction.

As an organization, we work to raise ecological awareness among our employees. Currently, 95% of our corporate fleet consists of hybrid vehicles. Every investment we undertake is developed in dialogue with the surrounding community. We ensure that construction processes are safe not only for people but also for local wildlife.

We continuously collect and analyze data while seeking solutions that reduce our environmental footprint.

ISO 9001 – Quality Management

ISO 9001 is the most widely adopted management system standard in the world. Its implementation was a strategic decision that helps Electrum consistently deliver products and services that meet customer requirements and regulatory obligations. The standard promotes a process-based approach, the continuous improvement cycle (Plan–Do–Check–Act), and risk-based thinking.

We systematically enhance the quality of our services, which translates into higher customer and partner satisfaction as well as faster adaptation to changing market conditions.

ISO 45001 – Occupational Health and Safety

ISO 45001 is the first global standard for occupational health and safety management systems. It provides a framework designed to prevent injuries, work-related illnesses, and to create safer workplaces. Its implementation confirms that Electrum effectively identifies hazards, minimizes occupational risks, and fosters a strong safety culture by engaging employees in the system’s continuous improvement. Evidence of this commitment includes our diverse training programs and safety days organized both at our offices and on project sites.

We also provide necessary periodic and upskilling training, ensuring that our employees maintain and expand their qualifications at all levels.

Why does it matter to Electrum?

Renewing ISO certifications is not just a formal confirmation of compliance with international standards – it is a clear signal that our processes and business decisions are continuously assessed and improved in line with global best practices. In a fast-changing environment, where demands for quality, safety, and environmental protection are increasing, staying aligned with ISO standards ensures we keep pace with the latest solutions and benchmarks. This allows us to:

  • maintain and enhance the quality of our services, enabling us to respond faster to the needs of clients and partners,

  • actively minimize our environmental impact by implementing sustainable solutions,

  • safeguard the safety and well-being of employees and partners by fostering a culture of responsibility and continuous improvement.

Each audit and recertification is not an endpoint for us, but a motivation to continue strengthening Electrum as a modern, responsible, and future-ready organization.

The most recent audit confirming Electrum’s compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards was completed in 2025.

PV Kotla and PV Łosienice: Key Progress Update on Electrum’s Projects for the Energa Group

Nearly 290,000 panels and 450 inverters – that is the total number of devices installed across two projects we are executing as the General EPC Contractor for Energa from the ORLEN Group. These are the PV Kotla (Lower Silesia) and PV Łosienice (Pomerania) photovoltaic farms. We have completed the key stage: the installation of all devices. Now we’re awaiting grid connection. Once fully operational, the power plants will supply clean energy to nearly 85,000 households.

PV Kotla in Numbers

The PV Kotla farm, located in the Głogów district, has an installed capacity of 130 MW, comprising 222,192 photovoltaic panels and 355 inverters. This facility covers an area of 183 hectares, equivalent to about 260 football pitches. The project involved 550 workers, with a peak of 310 people on-site simultaneously.

An impressive achievement of this project is that between June and December 2024, we installed as much as 100 MW of PV structures and modules. This is a truly record-breaking pace, which posed a significant logistical challenge for the entire team,” says Żaneta Łukaszewicz, Project Manager at Electrum.

HV Line Under the Oder River Bed – A Spectacular Challenge in the PV Kotla Project

The project includes, among other tasks, the construction of a nearly 14-kilometer-long high-voltage (110 kV) cable line. Its key element is a 970-meter directional drill under the Oder River – the first of its kind in Poland for a PV project. The drilling pipes necessary for the conduit weighed 55 tons, which was just one of the many challenges of this project. The biggest one? Geology.

The most significant challenge during execution turned out to be the difficult geological conditions along the drilling route,” says Magdalena Janusz, Construction Manager at Electrum. “Despite previously conducted geological surveys, we encountered swelling clays, which significantly complicated the work. It was necessary to modify the drilling technology and implement additional safeguards to ensure the stability of the borehole and a safe passage under the terrain obstacle.

Thanks to the team’s commitment, the construction of the cable line was successfully completed, and the measurements yielded positive results. The next step will be the energization of the station.

Once fully operational, PV Kotla will join the select group of PV installations in Poland with an installed capacity exceeding 100 MW.

PV Łosienice in Numbers

PV Łosienice is a facility under construction in the Kościerzyna district in Pomerania. Its installed capacity is 39.9 MW, delivered by over 64,500 PV panels and 95 inverters. The farm occupies an area of 43 hectares.

We commenced work on the construction site in December of last year, and the first deliveries of support structures arrived in mid-January. The installation is now ready for grid connection, commissioning, and necessary tests.

Summary

Both investments – PV Kotla and PV Łosienice – are important steps towards increasing the share of renewable energy sources in Poland’s energy mix. Thanks to the dedication of the project and construction teams, we are nearing the moment when these modern installations will begin producing green energy at full scale.
