Thomas O'Brien on Rue La La

I really love this Thomas O'Brien china for sale on Rue La La today- navy, light turquoise and white looks so fresh and modern yet totally traditional too.

Anemic Chic.

My year has been crazy- and it only seems to be getting crazier.  I think that's why when I spied Darryl Carter's serene townhouse in November's Elle Decor I was so instantly attracted to it.  I typically love lots of bright colors, but right now I'm craving a home that is complete devoid of anything bold- cream, white, brown and black with color coming from art and flowers instead, allowing the beauty of a space and it's antiques to be the spotlight.

(the double tubs is pretty cool, however I can;t help but think of a Cialis ad....)

I was drawn to similar palettes in Candian House & Home as well-

Fashion Friday: Ask and You Shall Receive

After the "Target Fake Frye Boot Purchase" craze that my post ignited, many of you asked just how to wear these little rough and tumble numbers.  So here are four outfits I put together (using a pic of the real Fryes since Target is not on Polyvore) to help you dress up your new purchases! Hope it helps!

My Current Fantasy Powder Room

I saw this gorgeous inlaid bone mirror on Wisteria the other day and was immediately inspired to find a use for it in a fantasy powder room.  What came from it was this scheme- a little moody, but clean ad sleek too.  I'd paper all the walls in charcoal Imperial Trellis, paint the ceiling in Ralph Lauren's Regent Metallic paint in Silver Plated, hang my favorite Mini George chandelier and anchor it with Waterfall Bath's Louis Vanity in grey accessorized with Michael Smith for Kallista's drop-dead glass knob faucet.

A Bit of Bridal Vintage...

Image
I just loved this shot of Mad Men star Christina Hendricks' vintage themed wedding- complete with mismatched bridesmaids wearing lovely little head adornments!  It got me thinking about how much I would love to feel confident enough to rock one of those for a formal event (or when I have another wedding ceremony, since you know, I wish I could have 8 different weddings...)

For a bride, this type of comb could be worn instead of a veil or placed int eh hair after the veil is removed after the ceremony.  This one is from Etsy and is adorned with a lovely little vintage looking bird and feathers (click on pic for link)
ImageImage My friend Jen has a company called Ban.do which makes TONS of great hair adornments at all different price ranges- here are a couple gorgeous numbers for a bride:

And here are a couple pairings for bridesmaids- wouldn't this be such a fun, flirty, elegant look?

Oh Yeah, This Is Happening...

Yes, I will dress my dogs for Halloween. Let the comments fly.
Baxter is going to be Darth Vader and Ollie the wise Yoda.
Beats the hell out of the bumble bee costume I forced Bax to wear last year. Which, as you can tell from this picture, did not please him ONE BIT. He was all "Mom, I'm a BOY. This is so not cool".

Country Livin' in the Fall

So glad you guys all freaked about my boot purchase yesterday. I wore those babies all afternoon and unlike most new shoes, they did not hurt one bit. In fact, they felt like I had owned them for years! I am so beyond thrilled with my budget purchase!
As I was talking about them to my girlfriend last night I said "These boots make me want to be all country- and like, build outdoor fires, tend to farm animals and cook pumpkin based things!" Isn't it funny how an item of clothing can inspire you to crave another life? Or a departure from your own just for a bit? As if perfectly aligned, I then clicked onto the Urban Grace blog and saw this posting about a farmhouse in the Catskills from the NY Times that would go PERFECTLY with my new boots. Because that's the normal progression... to buy a house that goes with your Target boots.

Another part of my Target Boot Life- owning a country antique shop like the homeowner...

For an amazingly yummy dinner, make (while wearing the Target boots)  Giada's butternut squash lasagna (I substituted fresh sage for basil and it made it that much better).  I made it once for Thanksgiving and it was INCREDIBLE.
