FAQ

General Maintenance

Q1: How should I clean Elite Cladding™?

A: Use a long-handled car washing brush that attaches to a hose—available at most auto supply stores. This method allows you to clean the cladding similarly to how you would wash a car.

Q2: What should I do if there is stubborn dirt or grime on the cladding?

A: For tough dirt such as soot or industrial grime, use a cleaning solution made of:

  • 1/3 cup of mild detergent
  • 1 gallon of water

Apply with a soft brush or cloth and rinse thoroughly with water.

Q3: Does Elite Cladding™ require special handling during installation?

A: Yes, Elite Cladding™ does require specific handling precautions to ensure product integrity and safety during installation. To prevent damage:

Lap Siding:

  • Limit stacking of siding or trim materials to no more than three pallets high.
  • Store bundles horizontally at all times—never in an upright position, as this can cause warping or stress fractures.

Board & Batten:

  • Store siding indoors when possible.
  • Avoid exposure to direct sunlight prior to-installation. Use tarps or the provided cover to protect materials. Keep siding away from high heat.
  • When storing outside, raise bundles off the ground with wood or similar supports and keep them covered.
  • Handle Elite Cladding™ gently, similar to premium-grade lumber.
  • Always lift panels from the center—not the ends.
  • Never drag items across the finished surface.
  • Open packaging carefully to avoid scratching the material.

Q4: Can Elite Cladding™ be damaged during construction?

A: Yes. Improper handling or installation can lead to physical damage. Always follow manufacturer guidelines and use trained professionals for installation.

Q5: Is Elite Cladding™ fireproof?

A: Elite Cladding™ complies with ASTM E84 and CAN/ULC-S102.2 standards. However, as it contains organic materials, it may melt or burn when exposed to high heat or open flames.

Q6: What precautions should I take to reduce fire risk?

A: Keep fire sources such as barbecues, and combustible materials like dry leaves, mulch, and trash, away from the cladding. This helps prevent heat exposure that could cause the material to soften, sag, melt, or burn.

Q7: What happens if Elite Cladding™ is exposed to fire?

A: It may soften, sag, melt, or burn, potentially exposing the underlying structure to further damage.
