why is it that every time i open or shut a door (be it in a car or apartment) i get shocked like nobody's business? i try really hard not to drag my feet when i walk...

spotlight.

this is austin. he's my cousin.

he's sixteen and sweet and funny and i love him.

we get along really well.

we used to build forts in the garage.

i remember when he was born. he was a cute baby.

i miss him when i'm away at school.

he gave me this purple flannel on thanksgiving, when some relatives were giving me a hard time and made me cry at the dinner table (i'm a little emotional sometimes).

also, i got this purple coca cola glass for free with a larger quarter-pounder meal at mcdonald's. i'll be honest though, i upgraded the meal to get the glass... and for the record, i didn't eat the entire quarter-pounder, or all the fries.

i went to arizona for thanksgiving.

i spent time with my sweet family.

i got to hang out with my best friend.

i made my jakey a blanket for our six month.

i also went to prescott with my cousin cheyanne to visit my dad and brian. and i got to spend time with chantry and jayden. i went shopping on black friday. it was a nice trip, and i look forward to going back in a couple weeks.

jake picked off all the nail-polish from my right thumb last night. we saw the blind side tonight and i liked it.

my boyfriend is funny.

tonight i saw...

A METEOR!!!!!!! a little after midnight i was in my kitchen (pouring a diet coke, if you can believe it) when i saw a very bright bluish white light, like those halogen (i think?) headlights that are blinding. but i live on the second floor and my apartment doesn't face the street! so i quickly looked over and the flash lasted another second or so, then it was gone. it was crazy! i was weirded out because i didn't know what it was but then i started seeing facebook statuses about it so i was pretty stoked that i saw it too. check out the videos on the ksl link if you get a chance.

i started my homework... really, i did. and i finished 13% of it. but then i wanted to go play in blog-land instead. so.. i did. and i don't care!

jake and i both gave talks today in sacrament meeting. cute, right? kind of weird to have a couple speak together in a singles ward though... luckily our adoring fans, jessy and kyle, came to support us and got this wonderful picture of us tootalllly not paying attention to anything once we were both done speaking. it's just how we are.. can't help it. as you can tell, we were very engaged in whatever we were talking about.

also, this diet coke ornament is calling my name. loudly and repeatedly. jacqui o gave me one my senior year, and then regis, my fat (and rude) wiener dog, stepped on it and it broke. i actually cried. really.

it snowed today for the first time. well, the snow stuck for the first time. i wish it would stay warm. i don't get along with the snow and the cold. they are rude because i get along better with the sun and heat.

however, the good thing about cold and snow is that it gets me in the christmas spirit early! i've been listening to christmas music all day. and jake and i have been watching holiday movies for weeks. these things are good.

natural canvas toms

toms are great because each time someone purchases a pair, toms gives a needy child a pair of shoes too. "one for one." fashion and charity at the same time? sounds good to me.

i was much dismayed upon discovering that there aren't any sandals for sale (or even to look at!?) on the teva website at the present time. sure, they are wildly reminiscent of the nineties, and they sure as hell don't look good with socks, but i'm dying for a pair of those strappy, velcro beasts when the warm weather returns. and i'll probably wear them with socks at some point anyways, just to be obnoxious.

ps. my birthday is two months from today. i can't wait to not be a 'teen' anymore.

i'm excited to go home in two weeks, and to see my family, and my good friends, and sleepover at sydnee's house!

i don't like getting ready for bed.. it takes too long, and by the time i use my pink grapefruit face wash and my peppermint toothpaste, i'm refreshed and even more awake.

i took some pictures today, finally. i hadn't taken any since vegas. for shame! but on my walk home from school there were so many leaves on the ground and i felt compelled to whip out my camera. also, there has been some construction in the neighborhood that i walk through to get to school, and this cone was just calling my name.

jake and i went to ogden tonight and saw a christmas carol with his mom and some other extended relatives. it wasn't what i expected, and i was a little disappointed. but it was still fun to watch because half of the characters looked like (and were) jim carrey. and he's a lunatic.

so, VEGAS

was so so much fun. we walked around and saw... pretty much everything (including lots of skin that we didn't want to see). our hotel was atrocious, but at $50 a night, what can you expect?

the bellagio was... amazing. the waters synchronized with sarah brightman and andrea bochelli singing "time to say goodbye" is in the top ten most epic moments of my life.

we visited caesar's palace. saw some marble boobies.

the venitian and the palazzo were both uber classy. they have a river with a gondola in the venitian.

i won $3 at mandalay bay on a slot machine... shhh.

i didn't get i.d.'d once, which was shocking, because i look like i'm a junior in high school.

i got a gnarly gash on my knee trying to run up a downward moving escalator in the mgm parking lot. something like this could only happen to me, because of my complete lack of coordination (except on the dance floor, that is).

i love my friends and my jakey. and sin city ain't too bad.

all you do is grit your teeth.

today was crazy!

i woke up and went to the mall with my roommate, rachel. i got a new jacket and a pair of shoes.

i cleaned the kitchen.

i met jake at wal mart and had a little play-date on his lunch break.

i drove around "downtown" and took some photos.

i cleaned the kitchen.. again.

i made a pizza for jake. he had to work until six... on a saturday!

we went to kyle and jessy's to play poker with some of jake and kyle's mission friends. i had never played poker ever in my life. the stakes were high: poker chips and the winner's ring that gets passed around between them. and guess what... I WON. definitely not because of skill, because i had no clue what i was doing. i tried to make a straight out of a 2, A, K, Q, and J. doesn't work.. but i had some dang good beginners luck.

i just got home from seeing harry potter 6 for the fourth time in theaters. i'm not ashamed. oh, and i almost had to throw down because kyle and jessy went to the bathroom and some lady tried to steal their seats, literally thirty seconds after they got up. so i told her we were saving those spots and she got mad because the movie was sold out and there weren't any two seats next to each other. so i told her sorry, but those seats were saved. she kept arguing with me but i was more clever so she got angry and got up and said "you're a bit.." but legitimately said it. i was suuuuper ticked off. but i just sat quietly and fumed for a couple minutes. then i was fine and watched harry potter.

i'm exhausted.. bedtime!

jake's parents were in ogden this weekend, so we drove up there today to have lunch with them and with some of their extended family. it's been pretty rainy this weekend, so i got some pretty shots out the window on our way home, before i fell asleep...

now, i've been carrying this little beauty around byu campus all week. just waiting for some reaction. a chuckle, a comment, even a reprimand? but nothing from these people! it's almost as if my subtle rebellions aren't entertaining OR offending anymore. my life is in shambles.

it's like when i listen to somewhat "naughty" songs on my ipod while walking around campus, wondering what all these good kids would do if what i was listening to was playing on some intercom. a certain ben folds song comes to mind, number one song after number one song... hah. 

i guess i'll just have to find a new way to rebel while remaining within the limits of the byu honor code..

i've been noticing these nice little signs on telephone poles and street light posts on my walks to and from school. it gives me something to be excited about.

this semester i've been taking my physical science class at the salt lake center thursday nights. i go with my dear friend jessy, and we have lots of laughs. her husband kyle and my jakey are really good friends, so we always have funny things to talk about on the hour drives there and back, plus two and a half hours in class. i love that girl!

last week we were famished after class so we stopped at a mcdonald's in salt lake before making the trek back to provo. this was hitler's mcdonald's. there was a 30 minute time limit to eat your meal, they charged for extra sauce packets, they didn't allow refills, and they made you get a token to use the bathroom! so much for "fast" food. it was amusing though...

almost a month.. eek.

i need a change here! some kind of hobby, or a job? oy. 

the last week jake and i watched the entire first season of LOST. i loveeee that show. john locke is my absolute favorite.

i miss my family and good friends in az, thanksgiving is semi-soon??

our three-month anniversary. we saw UP, like we did on the night we became official.

we went to a ward activity, then got rear-ended on the way home.

we went to colorado a couple weekends ago because jake's dad was put in the bishopric. while we were there we went to the meeker classic sheepdog championship trials. it was a riot.

we rode the four-wheeler, and i almost rolled it and killed jake. that's how i felt after.

one of those blogging dry spells...

i've been back in provo for a week now, and how great it is to be back. i wasted no time into getting back into real life. resting is for the birds. so the night i got back, jake and i went to his roommate/mission buddy/best friend and his fiance jessy's wedding dinner! they're such a good couple. jake and i took a little walk at the park where the dinner was, and we ended up with some funny pictures. 

on the way out, i tried to hop over a three foot pole (which i cleared easily on the way in) but my dress got caught and i ate it. hard. i have a wound on my shoulder and a big bruise on my knee.

the next day was kyle and jessy's wedding so we went to their reception and it was beautiful! we're so excited for them. i'm dumb and for some reason didn't take any pictures of the bride and groom.

jake's been working a lot, so we pretty much just hang out after 3:30 except on days when he donates plasma. so i stay up late then sleep in then i go watch wizards of waverly place at jake's apartment on the instant netflix thing.

it's been a year today since i moved to provo, and i celebrated by building a new dvd shelf.
