The Academy offers study sessions leading to the Certificate of Attendance in European Public Law or alternatively the Intensive International Master of Laws (I.I.LL.M.), a Diploma Level course in European Public Law for those interested in furthering their knowledge and skills on the reasoning and philosophy of the different national public law systems of European countries, as well as similarities and divergences among them.
Eligible applicants should hold an undergraduate degree in law, political science, European studies, international affairs, or any other related field. In addition, eligible applicants should be proficient in English for academic purposes.
This year’s study session takes place for 3 weeks, from August 24 to September 12, 2026. The study sessions are conducted on an annual basis, during the months of August and September in Sounion, Attica area.
Tuition fee for the EPLO Academy includes participation in lectures, field visits, events, non-printed course material, certificate of participation and the permission to attend and participate in the plenary and workshops of the esteemed European Group of Public Law Annual Conference.

Highlights of the Academy of European Public Law
The 2026 Academy explores the protection of key assets and systems against complex threats and illustrates the interdependence of security, economic stability and fundamental rights as well as how European and national legal systems structure judicial review of administrative actions, how constitutional courts frame standards of control and deference, and how these mechanisms respond to contemporary human rights and rule of law challenges.
The Academy’s field trips offered an opportunity for cultural exploration. From wandering through the treasures of the Acropolis Museum, surrounded by the echoes of ancient Athens, to enjoying the sunset at the Temple of Poseidon in Sounion, these moments provided a balance between academic rigor and discovery and a chance to take in the beauty of Greece.
The Academy’s guest lectures offer fresh perspectives on the main thematic. Prof. Paul Craig will honor this year’s Academy by sharing his insights and valuable knowledge, highlighting worth mentioning aspects. These sessions enrich the program with insights and inspired lively debate among participants.
