30 Weeks

Here is the 30 week picture.

Dan so kindly told me the other day that he doesn't really think I look any bigger than I was a few weeks ago. I, of course, was secretly overjoyed. Having felt big then, imagining myself even bigger was hard to do. Anyway, I told him that ultimately I would be the judge.

What is my verdict, you ask?

I'm bigger.

All well, that's what's supposed to happen. Right?

Too Cute

Last night I stumbled across my cute husband in our spare bedroom. This may not seem like a strange thing, but since our spare bedroom has been completely devoted to our baby and taken over by all her "stuff", there just is not much in there for us.

We had the following conversation:

ME: What are you doing?

DAN(with a smile on his face): Nothing.

ME: What do you mean nothing? What are you smiling about?

DAN: I was just picturing our little baby in here.

Ok, so maybe this is not as precious of a story to you. But to me, the wife, it is ADORABLE! I just wanted to post a little sweet something from our everyday ordinary lives.

By the way, Dan is completely excited and cannot wait for our sweet little girl to arrive. I, on the other hand, am excited, but I think I can wait just a little longer. :)

*Just in case you were wondering- I did ask Dan for his permission to let me post this. After he rolled his eyes, he agreed.

SPOILED!

All it took was deciding to go and a less than 10 minute drive.

Yes, that's right. No more spending ALL day driving to and from the temple.

(Although, I think secretly I am going to miss those all day adventures to the temple, we are looking forward to being able to attend the temple more frequently-even when it is winter and the roads are bad. Ha ha.)

We are definitely SPOILED!!!

A place to lay her head

We finally did it. We took that step...and bought...

A CRIB!!!

After researching and looking online AND in many stores we finally decided just to go garage-selling. We found just what we wanted and for a WAY better price!!! Sure it has few little dings and scratches, but that's going to happen anyway. Ours is just already broken in.

Here's a few pictures of Dan being the handyman that he is.

Image *Just for the record, even though I am not pictured, I did help. (Someone has to take the pictures)

Home Sweet Home

At last! The apartment tour! This post is mainly for family who have been itching to see where we live, but don’t have the time to make the 10 hour trek here- yet. But if you care to see our humble abode…read on. I will write the captions above each picture.

Here is the view you see straight ahead when walking in the front door. To my left is a coat closet, which is mainly used for storage now, since there is no need for a coat (or jacket for that matter) in St. George right now.
Image This is our living room. It is what you see to the right when walking in the door.

Image Another view of the living room. To the left is a sliding door that leads to the balcony.
Image This is the balcony. The door on the right is a storage closet where I have tried to fit as much as possible and still be somewhat organized.

Image

Here is one of the views we see when standing on the balcony. It's beautiful, but we have not spent much time enjoying it since it is at least 25 degrees cooler inside.
Image And here is the view of the pool from the balcony. We LOVE having access to a pool!
ImageNow a view of the dining room. Notice the 4th of July placemats! (Mom, I know you will appreciate this!) To the right of where I am standing is the kitchen.

Image A view of the kitchen. It is definitely an upgrade from what we had before. There is more cabinet space and it still has the open feel that I love. The door straight ahead is our laundry/storage room.
Image Another view of the kitchen.
Image Here is a view of our storage part of the laundry room. Even though it doesn't look like it, I have organized and know where everything is. :) There is one more shelf that is not pictured and underneath that is the majority of my kindergarten stuff. I never realized how much teaching stuff I really did have until I tried to find a place to store it. Image
Here is the laundry side of the laundry room. By the way, I LOVE having an actual laundry room versus a laundry closet!

ImageWhen you leave the kitchen and turn left, this is the view of the hallway. Image Straight ahead is the master bedroom. The door on the left (which you can see just hinges) is the bathroom. There are the two doors on the right. The first is a linen closet and the second (which you can see only hinges), is the soon-to-be baby Stevens' room.
ImageHere we have the "soon-to-be baby"/"I don't know where else to put it" room. All of the stuff piled on the left is baby stuff that has been given to us that we have not had a chance to assemble.

*Yes, I am aware of the gray dot that keeps appearing in the pictures. I apologize for this. Our camera needs to be fixed.
Image A tour of our apartment wouldn't be complete without seeing all of Dan's hunting souvenirs. Now, if I could just find a good place to put them. I know, he has already suggested hanging them up on the wall. He thinks the baby will like them.
Image Here is a view of the closet and the shelf that my wonderful husband made for my classroom. Now it will store all of the baby's things.
Image Here we see that the closet is not really meant for the baby, just the clothes that need to be hung. The rest of the closet is devoted to scrapbooking and crafts. Oh yeah, and Dan's golf clubs.
Image And here is a view of the bathroom. I think it is actually smaller than one in our other apartment, but we have a sink and cabinets in our master bedroom to make up for it.
Image And now we walk into the master bedroom.
Image A view to the right of the bed. (sorry about the lighting.)

Image A view to the left of the bed where you can see our office part of the room as well as the sink and cabinets that I mentioned earlier. The door to the left that is closest to the sink leads to the bathroom and the door on the right with the mirror on it, is our walk-in closet.
Image A view into our closet. It is not as big as the one we had before, but I am not complaining because it IS a walk-in closet and I am sure some of the shoppers at DI appreciated the down-sizing since that is where a lot of our clothes went. AND it helped me get rid of those clothes that you think you will someday wear, but someday never comes.
Image I just couldn't end the tour with our closet, so I decided to show you a closer look of the fabulous pool that we get to enjoy when the weather isn't TOO blazing hot.

We're having...

A GIRL!!!

We are thrilled!

We have known for quite a while now, but I have not posted anything about the gender since we started blogging. So, for all of you that were wondering or thought you knew, but weren't quite sure...

Now you know.

Image
She could maybe look like this

or

Image
this.

Let's hope that she is a cute mixture of both, but if she does look more like Dan, we can only hope it's in a cute girl sort of way.

Oh, and by the way, the reason this picture is black and white is NOT because Dan is THAT old.

27 Weeks

Image Not pregnant...
The lighting is not very good in the picture, but I had to show me from the back. We just saw my family for the 4th of July and my dad says it is still weird to see me with a belly. But then he said, "From behind, you would never know you are pregnant!" (Kind words from a father) Thanks Dad!

Pregnant!

I just had to put a picture where you could see my face so that you can see that it really is me!

To Blog or Not to Blog

Finally after almost a month, here I am ready to blog...I think. Signing up for this whole blog experience was not completely my idea. My sister, KaLee, has had a fantastic blog for quite sometime now, and I have enjoyed reading it, but never really been interested in having my very own, due to the fact that my computer skills are QUITE lacking to say the least. I guess when you teach five and six-year-olds all day long, there is not much working on the computer. :) But now that Dan and I have moved 10 hours away from family, we figure it will be a great way to keep in touch (if I keep up with it). Or at least this is what KaLee tells me.

So... after exploring some of the blogging world out there, this is what I have learned:

  • Dan and I were one of few that did NOT have a blog. I really had no idea that this is the thing to do. Now we have finally caught up with the world...a little.
  • Did I mention before that my computer skills are lacking?!
  • If you think our blog is going to be as creative as KaLee's, then think again because you'll just end up being disappointed.
  • Our blog definitely won't be anything fancy, but hopefully to the three of you that read it (mom, KaLee and Sarah), it will keep you updated in our simple lives. :)
So anyway, "To blog or not to blog?" That is the question. I think we will blog.
