Moral Dilemmas in The Pitt: Life, Death, and Hard Choices
In the high-stakes world of The Pitt, every decision counts. Doctors, nurses, and staff face split-second choices that can mean life or death—not just for patients, but for themselves and their colleagues. This panel explores the ethical gray zones of medical drama: the balance between protocol and instinct, personal values and professional duty, and how writers craft moral tension that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats.
Room: Marina del Rey Mod: Melina Time: noon on Friday, February 20th
Cultural Nuances of Dating in Asian Dramas
Indirect kisses through shared soda cans. The agonizing significance of dropping honorifics. Asian dramas can be full of romantic gestures that may not translate cleanly across cultures. When you’re used to Western media, you might miss half the emotional beats. Let’s talk about the cultural context that makes Asian Dramas tick: the slow-burn, the power dynamics of certain honorifics, societal expectations, and the subtle ways to propose marriage without actually asking someone to marry. And also discuss our favorite culturally specific romantic moments and misunderstandings.
Room: Redondo Mod: Gideon Time: noon on Friday, February 20th

Is That the End?
What makes a good ending to your shows/movies? How can a show where everyone dies like Blake 7 feel like a cheat, when the same thing happens in Rogue One and it works? Does the media make a difference (book vs movie vs TV)? Do we want decisive conclusions or open-ended ambiguity? Let’s explore the different ways our fandom’s canon was brought to a close. What worked, what didn’t, and how that ending shaped the fandom itself.
Room: Laguna/Malibu Mods: Christie Young, Tayrin Roo Time: 1:00 PM on Friday, February 20th
Is This or Is This Not a Dangai Ban?
In this panel, we’ll look at all the new ways Chinese showrunners are finding to film and release BL dramas and dangai (danmei adaptations) by having them produced, licensed, and/or streaming via other countries like Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Japan. We’ll rejoice over the miracle of Justice in the Dark finally airing (two years after this adaptation of Priest’s Mo Du first tried to stream), as well as the 2025 phenomena of Kill to Love, The Way Home, Revenged Love, and, most astonishing of all, ABO Desire, an actual omegaverse CBL. We’ll discuss others that didn’t quite make it through the NRTA’s ban (Blue Canvas of Youthful Days) and a few that squeaked through in 2024 (The Spirealm, Meet You at the Blossom, The On1y One, and Unknown, also a Priest adaptation). And we’ll make time to lament dangai still frozen in post-production purgatory (Winner Is King, Immortality, and Eternal Faith in particular). Come yell about your favorites and discover new ones!

Music Theory for Vidders Who Don’t Want to Learn Music Theory
Maybe you know what works just from your ears, maybe you don’t. Whether or not you know how to read sheet music, let’s talk about the music concepts vidders actually need and keep the theory-speak to a minimum. What drum sounds matter more than others? How do you recognize when the bassist is purposefully trying to throw your editing off by faffing about? Or even just tips and tricks to keep time when the audio waveforms are all over the place.

Megafandoms that Swallowed the Decade

Let’s discuss which shows became that megalodon of each decade, from the ’60s to today. Bring your opinions and get ready to argue which show is each era’s reigning king, if it’s slashy does it make bigger, and if there are any megafandoms today.

Cops vs. Real Life
TV cops break every rule, solve every case in 42 minutes, and never fill out paperwork. Let’s talk about what cop shows get laughably wrong, like forensics timelines, Miranda rights, or that thing where they just walk into places without warrants and everything is fine and dandy somehow. Let’s also talk about copaganda, and how international crime shows handle police differently to American ones.

Lost Fandoms Revived
Some fandoms dry up when canon becomes unavailable. Recently, many shows and movies cycle their way through the streaming services—and shows that haven’t been seen since the 90s or earlier are available and being discovered by new fans. How can new fans connect with long-dormant fandom history, and how can older fans enjoy all the new energy and different approaches to fic? (koff omegaverse buddy cops koff)

Centralized Fannish Spaces in the Age of Microfandoms
The internet scattered us into tiny niche fandoms, which is great for specificity, but not so great for shared spaces. How do we maintain broad community when no two people are in the same fandom anymore? This panel looks at the challenge of staying connected when fandoms have splintered into micro-communities, and how we can still build spaces where everyone feels part of the same larger fannish world.

Fannish Socializing Between Fandoms
Stuck in fandom limbo? Not feeling the urge to devote your soul to anything in particular right now? Some of us bounce between fandoms; some of us stall out for a while. That doesn’t mean we stop wanting fan company. How do you keep a foot in the community, find common ground with people who are obsessed with wildly different things, and enjoy fan spaces without a flagship fandom of your own? Let’s talk about how to socialize across fandom boundaries, how to join conversations without a current obsession, and how to keep fan energy going even when your brain refuses to fixate on one particular show, book, or game.

Finally Unlocked: Late-in-Life Neurodivergent Diagnosis in Fandom
Let’s discuss the phenomenon of later-in-life discovery—when lifelong fans and convention-goers realize their intense focus on a favorite series, struggles with social cues, or complex mental health profiles are actually signs of conditions like ADHD, Autism, or related comorbidities. Join us as we discuss the “Aha!” moment of diagnosis (self-diagnosis is valid here!), the process of re-evaluating past fandom and other life experiences, and the relief and challenges of finding your “instruction manual” in adulthood. For those who are comfortable doing so, we can share personal stories about how neurodiversity shapes the way we interact with fan communities, process lore, and find our tribe. (This is intended as a roundtable discussion; your mods are there to mod, not lecture!)

So You’re Living in a Fascist Regime
The US has gone from “some fascist influence” to full “our gov’t has decided to just… ignore a whole lot of our laws, for the purpose of profits and stomping on people they don’t like.” How do we cope; what can we change; are there any tools or skills from our fannish interests that can help?

The Troubles of Multi-Fandom Vids
Multi-fandom vids are super cool when done well, but they can be an absolute nightmare behind the scenes. From trying to match aspect ratios, or grainy footage with crisp 4k, to just trying to get your preview to render properly in the program while your computer screams in pain from the sheer number of shows you’ve given it, multi-fandom vids can have some pretty unique technical and non-technical issues that come from them. Let’s talk common problems in multi-fandom vids and how we can fix them.

Older Shows for Fandom Newbies
Certain fandoms are impossible to not notice online, even if the shows ended before you were born. But for the younger fans, or even just fans who are newer to fandom as a whole, where do you actually start with getting into these fandoms? Where can the shows be watched? Which shows aged well? Which episodes or even seasons should maybe be skipped the first time around? Let’s talk classic fandoms and how to get into them so late in the game.

Vid Feedback That Actually Helps
Quick! A wild vidder appeared with a rough draft! What do you do? Compliment sandwich? General keysmashing? Thesis-length breakdown? Let’s talk about what types of feedback actually help (and when), how to ask for the critique you need, and how to give awesome, constructive feedback. For vidders seeking betas, betas seeking vidders, or anyone who’s gotten a “idk, it’s already great” as their only note.

Creating Your Own Rainbow: A DaVinci Resolve Color Editing Hour
For some reason your source is a weirdly sepia hellscape, or your source is wildly differently color-graded between episodes. DaVinci’s color tools can help fix that, if you know your way around them. In this panel we’ll cover basic color correction, creating more consistent looks across your vid, a little bit of stylistic color, and some fun little tidbits for when you just want to mess around and make the most cracky crackvids in existence. Prior DaVinci Resolve experience is helpful but not at all required, we’re going to make this as simple as we can and have some fun with it.

Little Black Dresses
A “little black dress” is something you can wear anywhere. An LBD character is someone you can ship with anyone. Who’s the “ship him with ANYONE” in your fandom? Are there arguments about which character is the true LBD of the fandom? Who works to ship with anyone in crossovers?

Popular songs are used across fandoms, so we’re going to look at 3-4 vids using the same song (likely Rasputin, but subject to change) in different fandoms and see what common themes or stylistic choices show up, what parts of the vid are unique to the fandom, and anything else that we find interesting to compare.

The Ethics of Fix-It Fic: Repairing Canon vs. Rewriting It
Fix-it fic can be healing, but there is a thin line between repairing canon and rewriting it. This panel explores why certain fandoms inspire massive fix-it movements, character integrity, and when “fixing” becomes “replacing.” We’ll discuss the purpose of fix-it fic, whether it preserves or erases meaningful beats, and how creators’ choices shape fannish responses. Bring your strongest opinions and favorite examples.

Heated Rivalry: 50 Shades of Gay
We expected a gay show, but nobody expected this level of BYFO! Let’s slather our faces with aloe and dive in to what makes this show so damn hot, so much fun, and what it means that an m/m romance series got an adaptation. Plus, there’s all the wank surrounding casting, what counts as queer representation, and critics who don’t know the first damn thing about romance but love to police the sexual fantasies of women.

Build-A-Vid: Live Fanvid Demo
Let’s construct a vid from scratch! Why put that clip there? Which beats are we cutting on? How much time is spent moving that one troublesome clip forwards and backwards 0.2 seconds? Bring along some questions so that when the vidder drops into focus-silence you can prod them into remembering there’s an audience. You don’t have to vid along with, just bring yourself and any curiosity you have about the vidding process! Hopefully by the end we’ll even have a vid to show for it.

Angsty vs Happy Found Families: Which Do We Prefer?
Sometimes the found families are sweet and fluffy, and sometimes a character is forcibly adopted by a disaster parental figure and ends up with 3+ uncles and aunts who are equally chaotic and the families end up just as angsty as the character’s bio-family. Let’s talk about some examples of angsty found families and fluffy found families, and what we like about both types of found family.

Temu Dashcon; or Tumblr as a Fandom
Tumblr’s home to many fandoms, but also to many beautiful bits of short writing and comics, along with notorious memes and the most random stuff you can think of. Spiders Georg, The God of Arepo, supervillains adopting neglected children, neurodivergent changelings, variations of demon summoning going wrong or going horny. Oh, and that one mafia movie.
Tumblr culture is full of creativity and storytelling. The social media home of “Yes, and?” Not to mention science in bizarre places, like how a malachite dildo connects to Flint, Michigan. And monsterfucking. No tentacle left behind.
