ABOUT ME

My name is Michael, but I also answer to Espilan, that being the name I am best known by online. I work at my local newspaper, handling various tasks for multiple departments around the office.

My hobbies primarily include playing games and doing various music-related things, the latter of which I had something of a reputation for during the 2000s, both in certain online communities and among family/friends offline. Feel free to take a look on my Google site or on PureZC if you're interested in that kind of thing, but please be warned that the majority of what you'll find is old, with some of it dating as far back as 2003. Due primarily to a lack of time to commit to it anymore, while I will still occastionally poke at music composition things in general, I no longer regularly do MIDI stuff; my last 'big' project was a thing back in 2014 titled Fates Divided, which can be found elsewhere on the aforementioned Google site or among the works I've released on PureZC. My other music-related interests include listening to progressive metal, electronica, orchestral, or chiptunes, with the latter being of these being of particular interest.

When it comes to video games, my genre preferences are adventure, role-playing, platformers, and puzzles. I consider myself to be reasonably competent at Tetris (but not at a competitive level), periodically replay Mega Man X/X2/X3 including various challenge runs, and could be considered a fan of both Etrian Odyssey and Phantasy Star. I've also played various online games over the years, including (but not limited to) Dungeon Fighter Online, Elsword, Final Fantasy XIV, Flyff, Phantasy Star Online (1/Blue Burst, 2, and New Genesis), and Ragnarök Online.
