INST-DSpace project kick-off meeting and webpage

The INST-DSpace project was officially kicked-off on Mon Feb 9th with an online meeting of the project team partners (euroCRIS,4Science and the Technical University of Hamburg). An INST-DSpace project page has now been made available on the euroCRIS website to keep the research information management community up to date on the project progress.

Deadline extended for CRIS2026 submissions

DRIS: Directory of Research Information Systems

CRIS type. Possible values: institutional, funder, regional, national, international, aggregation, other
Organisation served by the CRIS or running the CRIS
Name of the CRIS. If there’s also an acronym, it can be added in brackets
CRIS solution. Possible values are in-house-built, Pure, Converis, Symplectic Elements, DSpace-CRIS, Haplo, Worktribe, etc. Details may be added to complete the description for an in-house-built platform, eg “In-house-built (Java/Webservices)”
URL for an open CRIS portal, eg https://www.researchportal.be/en. If the CRIS has no open portal, then a URL may be used that provides info on the system itself such as https://researchsupport.admin.ox.ac.uk/reporting/symplectic

CERIF API

Two important landmarks for CERIF 1. The CERIF API (version 1.0 - August 2015) The CERIF API  enables 3rd party software programs to access and reuse Research Information maintained in Current Research Information Systems (CRIS).  The primary objectives of the CERIF API are the following:
  1. Facilitate the interoperability of CRIS systems and their integration with other information systems.

This release makes a few additions based on current experience with CERIF usage. On the other hand, the use of some attributes in the model is deprecated - these attributes will go away in a future release. The more appropriate way of expressing the information now is using a classification or federated identifiers.

CERIF (the Common European Research Information Format) is: 

  • A concept about research entities and their relationships – Specification (Conceptual Level) 
  • A description of research entities and their relationships – Model (Logical Level)
  • A formalization of research entities and their relationships – Database Scripts (Physical Level)

Update on forthcoming euroCRIS events

Following another successful euroCRIS membership meeting at the Izmir Institute of Technology (IZTECH) last Nov, the next euroCRIS event will be the 17th International Conference on Current Research Information Systems (CRIS2026). The CRIS2026 Conference will be held May 20-22 at the São Miguel Campus of the University of the Azores in Portugal. A call for proposals for contributions to the conference is currently open until 7 Feb 2026.

After that, the Autumn 2026 euroCRIS membership meeting will be held Nov 24-26 at Tecnalia in San Sebastian, Spain. This will be the first time a euroCRIS meeting is held at a Technology & Innovation Transfer Centre rather than at a University. A call for proposals for this SMM2026 event will be released in the summer.
