Wow! I'm on a blogging roll! It just seems like a lot has happened in the last week. We went to the Weber vs Utah game on Saturday and I was seriously contemplating wearing my wildcat shirt but then I came to my senses. We went with my niece Cortnee who is so darn cute! Trent and her dad were just beeming with pride when she would scream at the top of her lungs..

Cake like cheese needs time
One year down...
So it's a little bit more than a year since we've been married (officially 1 year was Sept 21). Here's a brief synopsis of what we've been up to:
-Trent has spent alot of time at the doctor's office with things ranging from shingles, a herniated disc and finding out that he needs to get his tonsils out for the second time in his life.
-House improvements: We got the stucco of our house repainted this year, got some much needed decorations, planted flowers, a tree and vegetable plants and applied mulch to the flower beds twice and we got a water softener installed in the basement.
-Trent's on his second semester of school right now.
-We adopted two dogs into our family and have put one of them through semi-formal training.
-I've officially become a true ute fan.
-Busy callings in church.
-We became bloggers.
That about sums it up. It just seemed to fly right by so I may have missed a few things but you get the jist.

Tree Pandemonium
Before...
During...we had to block the windows with ladders so they wouldn't get damaged by the falling branches.

After...well at least one of them
Last Saturday Trent's dad asked us to help cut down these two HUGE willow trees in his backyard. We had two chainsaws going full steam on this sucker! Luckily noone was seriously injured by the danger of falling branches that were the size of small trees themselves or by the aformentioned chainsaws as they were cutting through wood like a knife through hot butter.
It took two very large loads to the dump to rid the yard of all the tree's fallen pieces. We even received the assistance of Rick's innocent neighbors in cleaning up and hauling away the remains off of their own property because of the enormity of these things! It really was a fun and exhausting project.

We got a little carried away and cut down some of his apple tree too ;)

A Few Updates
It has been a while since Erin last updated our blog. Then I got an e-mail from my cousin Amy with a bunch of blogs from my Dad's side of the family and I, for the first time, looked at mine and Erin's blog. Just to give a small synopsis. Erin and I are coming up on our ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY this weekend. Since then we have gotten two dogs and we love to play with them. Although, it is nice just to throw them outside when we get tired of them. I'm just starting my second semester in college and will hopefully be done with my associates this time next year!! Then I get to study for two 8 hr. tests and a four hour test to get my surveyors license. This summer Erin was called to be the girl’s camp director. Just recently she was called as the new Young Women’s leader. Just goes to show you shouldn't always do your best. She is really excited about it though. We have a lot of really great girls in our ward. Most recently Erin’s Sister Tricia got married. His name is Adam. He’s a pretty chill guy. He’s a UTE fan so that’s enough for me. Here are some photos of our goings on...

Hiking
Last night we went hiking up Adams Canyon with almost all of Trent's brothers and their significant others. We also took Jake up there with us and I tell you what we thought we had a mountain goat on our hands cuz that dog was climbing up rocks and was totally fearless. It was a lot of fun and we got some much needed exercise.

Air horn? Why didn't I think of that!
So, on Saturday Trent, Jake and I had our first oficial dog obedience class! The teacher taught us some basics about how to get your dog's attention without actually wanting him to come to you, teaching him how to sit, leave things alone, and come in an emergency. So far Jake has been catching onto these pretty well...he'd pretty much do anything for a treat.
But the most useful thing that the teacher taught us is to get an air horn (you know those annoying things that people sometimes take to sports games) and when he jumps up on us to blow it right in his face ;) Let's just say you probably can't find any air horns in the Layton Wal-mart for the next week. The most amazing thing is that IT WORKS! It scares the crap out of him and we'll probably be prematurely deaf but at least we'll have our sanity. Now it's been a couple days and he doesn't jump up very much even without the blow to the face. Thank you Safety Sport, Ozone safe Air Horn!!!

Showers of Babies
My sister Brooke had her baby yesterday 6/03/08. Corbin Wright was born at 856 am weighing 8 lbs 2 oz and 20.5 inches long. His big brother Cayden and big sister Cortnee are so excited to have a baby brother! He has the cutest dark brown hair that is already forming into a mohawk. He's already the odd man out with his brother and sister who have the blondest hair possible.
Last night Trent had the opportunity to watch Cayden and Cortnee all night after taking Cayden to his baseball game while I was at a baby shower for his cousin in Riverton. Even with all the excitement of a new baby we were both content to be just the two of us by the end of the night. Don't think that I'll be following in my sister's footsteps anytime soon.

My husband the game fanatic
So for those of you who don't know, my husband and some of his friends have this ridiculous fettish with board games and/or card games. This weekend my husband hosted this all night "Settlers of Catan" tournament. I won't bore you with all the details but basically they play a bunch of rounds and determine the winner.
Here's some of his friends in front of a table covered with just a few of the other games he wants. And below gives you a glimpse of the fanatasism...he put liner down so the pieces wouldn't move.
He has a ton of games that he's already collected which seem to find their way all over our house. This is where they're suppose to be...
This is where some of them are right now. Oh and there's even more in his truck from taking around to other people's homes to play with them.
Also, semiannually he and his friends hold this huge tournament for table hockey. No, not air hockey, table hockey. I'd never even heard of it before I met Trent but I must admit I got addicted to the game too! It's kinda like foosball but with hockey guys. Last year for Christmas I got him his own table so he could practice up for the tournaments.
They really are a big deal because they keep stats of everything you could imagine and give trophies for the winners and things like best defense, most goals scored on yourself, most goals scored from the defense players, best Canadian spirit (the guy that's in charge is Canadian), best goal tending and some others I can't think of right now. Here are a few of Trent's trophies.
The thing that I love the most about this is that my husband gets to be happy and have fun with his friends doing something he's interested in. I really admire him for the person that he is because he does it for the pure fun of it and really doesn't care if he wins or loses unlike most people who get so competitive and are poor sports. And also that I get time to spend watching chick flicks with my sister while he's distracted and don't have to hear his complaining all the way through the movie.

Travis' Wedding
Trent's brother Travis got married about a week ago now. It's so weird to have three new brothers and be a part of their lives. I feel like a big sister to all of them and am loving every minute of it! I can now do things like pin on all of their boutonnieres, help them plan and decorate the getaway car, give them a hard time about how long their hair is, break up the fights and other big sister things. All of them are fun-loving, funny, hardworking, sweet, handsome men that any girl would be lucky to have for brothers.
Jake the wonder dog
My dog is absolutely insane! He loves to chew on shoes, socks, bones, ant traps...you name it, if he can somehow get his mouth around it, it's his! He is the best at fetching. He's so funny he runs as fast as he can to get the ball and does this little jump right before he gets to it and if it's anywhere near something else like a wall or fence he'll just run right into it just so he can get the ball really quickly. On the other hand it's not always easy to get the ball back from him, he usually runs right to you but when you reach down to get the ball he'll book it as fast as he can away from you. He really is the cutest thing and I love him!
