Lisa Jarnot & Eleni Sikelianos: Poetry Trading Card Doubleheader

It's summer in America and as the season heats up, we thought it was about time for a poetry trading card double header featuring Lisa Jarnot and Eleni Sikelianos!

Lisa Jarnot's poetry trading card, patterned after a 1988 Donruss Baseball card design features a new poem, "from Amedellin Cooperative Nosegay." Her latest book, A Princess Magic Presto Spell, is available from Solid Objects.

Eleni Sikelianos' poetry trading card is based on a 1960 Leaf baseball trading card design and features a new poem "from Make Yourself Happy." Her new book, You Animal Machine (The Golden Greek) was just released by Coffee House Press.

Tom Raworth Poetry Trading Cards

They might not play baseball in England but poetry is an international pastime...yeah: Tom Raworth is this month's poetry trading card:

A key member of the British Poetry Revival, Tom Raworth is the author of more than 40 books of poetry and prose.

Patterned after a 1986 Donruss baseball card design, Tom Raworth's poetry trading card features a new poem titled Surfing The Permafrost Through Methane Flares.

It wouldn't be National Poetry Month without a Poetry Trading Card... Arthur Sze is closing out April:

Author of nine books of poetry, including the forthcoming Compass Rose (Copper Canyon, 2014), Arthur Sze is also a celebrated translator.

About his work, Jackson Mac Low once said, “The word ‘compassion’ is much overused—‘clarity’ less so—but Arthur Sze is truly a poet of clarity and compassion.”

Patterned after a 1967 Topps baseball card design, Arthur Sze's poetry trading card features a new poem of clarity and compassion (from Arctic Circle) from his forthcoming collection.

TOTEM by Brian Foley

In the category of long overdue, we here at Fact-Simile are happy to announce the official release of TOTEM by Brian Foley, one of the winners of our last Equinox Chapbook contest...

TOTEM is a modern-day "girdle book" adapted from the medieval monastic tradition of important texts meant to be worn on the reader's belt. It is set in Trajan Pro and printed on 120 gsm Arches Text Wove. Each of the 100 unique books in this limited edition print run are bound in upcycled denim with a reclaimed leather strap.

Brian Foley is the author of The Constitution (Black Ocean, April 2014). His poems have appeared in Boston Review, The Fanzine, Everyday Genius, Denver Quarterly, and The Volta. He is the editor of Brave Men Press and works in Western Massachusetts.
