It confirms that the biggest non-technical hurdle for their pilot fusion reactor isn't science - it’s regulation. ▶️ The Key Differentiator: The study found Finland 🇫🇮 is the most prepared host country in Nordics because it is proactively reforming its Nuclear Energy Act. This move streamlines licensing and reduces non-technical risk - a lesson every government should heed. ⏩ The Big Picture: Fusion, like hydrogen, offers clean, secure, dispatchable power- the ultimate goal for energy resilience. Once commercial, fusion promises the baseload capacity that modern grids desperately need. Our work at PowerUP Energy Technologies sits at the immediate edge of this energy transition. We take lessons from this long-term thinking and apply them today: We focus on modular, proven hydrogen solutions because they are deployable now, providing the flexibility and local resilience that complements future baseload power. Finnish startups raised 1.4 billion Euros in 2024, which is close to the previous record amount in 2022. Meanwhile, in Europe startup funding continued to decline. What’s happening in Finland?   🐳 Big funding rounds made a comeback. The investments received by three companies, Hostaway (€345m), Oura (€192m) and Iceye (€150m) accounted for half of the capital raised.   💰 Foreign investments totalled approximately 1 billion Euros. Most of the capital in the big rounds came from US investors.   ❄️ Finnish investments rose to new highs – narrowly. The Finnish investors continued to deploy capital in the earlier investment stages.   🏆 Finnish startups stand out in Europe. Finland was one of the few countries in Europe that saw an increase in startup investments in 2024, and the hike was one of the largest. European Space Agency - ESA , through its #ARTES program, created the partnership between Jotne Connect, Lithoz, RF Microtech, VTT, and DESKARTES OY and has been a positive and productive collaboration. The joint knowledge in Digital Twin (ISO 10303-STEP), Ceramic 3D printing and sintering processes of Dielectric Filters, and new simulation and visualization technologies has contributed significant value, strengthening both innovation and practical outcomes. The cooperation has fostered trust, technical progress, and mutual benefit, making it a strong example of effective industry partnership with the support from European Space Agency - ESA. Krogerus is advising Qt on its recommended voluntary public tender offer for all the outstanding Class B shares in I.A.R. Systems Group.
