Deceptively easy question making me want to die

I am using Flash CS4 with ActionScript 3.0 and for the life of me I cannot make a functioning start button for my video.

I have tried like every code example that I've been able to find on the internet, I have read everything involving buttons in my 'Teach Yourself Flash CS4' book at least 100 times, and have tried everything from Components to throwing my computer through the window and nothing seems to work. Can anyone help me before I have to give up my hopes and dreams forever? ;A;
