Help?

I'm trying to work out how to make flash ecards...anyone point me in the direction of the basics of the timeline (I had a look at the Macromedia site and feel really silly but can't understand it).

I'm looking for a solid tutorial or a hand basically...if anyone has templates they could share, or point me in the direction of...or a file to deconstruct, I'd be eternally grateful.
