a jubilant nerd/ i like studying the brain/ and building new ones
A few years ago I was studying computer science and cognitive science at Carnegie Mellon University, and I'm now doing a neuroscience PhD at Caltech.
I'm fascinated by the problem of sensory perception, particularly vision. I use transcranial magnetic stimulation to non-invasively stimulate the brain's visual cortex, in order to understand how the brain represents visual information.
I constantly challenge myself to try to understand the way that others see the world.
I often wear a black bowler hat, which has signatures on the inside from Kevin Mitnick (a convicted hacker), Neal Stephenson (a famous sci-fi author), Brian Binnie (the 2nd SpaceShipOne astronaut), Bill Nye the Science Guy, and John Rhys-Davies (i.e. Gimli from LOTR). I almost got a signature from Steve Wozniak (co-founder of Apple) after I got Kevin Mitnick's, but I'd just given the pen back to somebody else.
I eventually hope to become an origami combat specialist for the Special Operations Division of the British Library.
