Will show the photo first, as it is what my post is based off of. Recently went 2 way SLI with GTX780s, hoping it would get me better performance and smoother gameplay. I'm okay with 30fps, but stuttering down to 5fps is what frustrates me, but would like to fix it all together. Which is why I bought another 780. I got SLI set up and running correctly and started playing in game. I was disappointed becuase there was no noticeable difference. There was actually a slight drop in performance. I get around 10% less fps average with SLI on. I get 30-40fps outside, 20-30fps while in cities, and 60+ in interiors. In cities and outside, if I make any fast camera moves it drops to around 5fps. As you can see both cards are maxing out the Vram usage, which is what I am attributing the performance loss to. So I decided to turn my uGrids back to default, some other .ini settings as well, and remove ALL of my texture mods affecting rocks, landscapes, as well as any environmental mods like CoT and Flora Overhaul and any water mods, etc... Not any that affect misc items or SMIM. Loaded up the game, and nothing changed at all. I get the same framerates and everything on a pretty much default Skyrim. I played around for a while, multiple characters, created new characters, and I still got around 35fps outside and around 25fps in towns, on default Skyrim textures. I mean default, not the Bethesda Hi-Res packs. It also still maxes out my Vram usage on both 3Gb cards with 0 texture mods. SO FRUSTRATED!!! I am confused why my game is running so terribly on default settings, and any advice is EXTREMELY appreciated. Here is my other forum post discussing gaining nothing from SLI v a single card.

I had an itch to play some oblivion and rekindle an old machinima idea I had back in the day but never had the hardware to produce, I used to be able to play oblivion on my rig no problem but due to some mods clashing and save files corrupting I uninstalled it. Since last time I had it installed I upgraded my GPU to a GTX 780 and got 8 more gigs of ram. With no mods, no unofficial patches, or OBSE, It crashes. I've uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times today, tried every fix I can find and nothing. Apparently I read it had something to do with newer graphic cards on the steam version on the game, which doesnt make sense cause my old card ( 7870 GHZ ) ran it perfectly fine. Is there a work around? Or do I need to get another version? I already bought the game 3 times (once on 360, twice on pc(I lost my original disk and steam is easy)) And dont really want to go for a fourth.

I did loads of research before I bought another GTX 780, and almost everywhere I read anything from, almost all people said you will see gains going SLI as long as nothing else is holding you back or limiting your system like your CPU. I have a 3570k overclocked to 4.2Ghz. It is my impression that Skyrim is well optimized for SLI. I will state this. This is my first time going SLI. I do have SLI enabled through the Nvidia control panel and confirmed both GPUs are working with Precision X while in game. I still may have something wrong. These framerates are from as soon as you enter Whiterun, and I have many mods that affect Whiterun as well as mods that ad NPCs. (Framerates only changed 1-2fps if am running an ENB or not.) Framerate without SLI = 20 Framerate with SLI = 18 I was hoping to see at least a small increase at this area, like 10-15 at least, but not a drop. I have searched online on if there is any setting that you manually have to turn on to enable SLI in game, but everything I read is from 1 or 2 years ago, from like version 1.2 or 1.4 of Skyrim, and the things stated no longer apply, so I assumed it was implemented by default in the later updates. Also, from monitoring them in game, my GPU usage maxes out around 50% and my CPU maxes out around 60%, not sure why so low even though my fps is so low. Any advice is appreciated.

Hey folks, It's me again, but the question this time is a little different. I hope that you all are as helpful as you were previously, even though the feedback I gained wasn't really the one I was looking for. Anyhow, a while ago I made a topic about helping me pick which videocard to get and initially I planned to either get a R9 290 or a 780. I've changed my mind and through thorough research, I have decided to instead go with a 780Ti since I can afford it. Although I'm left with a debate: What manufacturer to choose? I've done some research myself and have decided to have my pick inbetween two choices: MSI or ASUS. More specifcally, MSI TwinFrozr vs. ASUS DirectCU II. The end goal is to pick the cooling that's more quiet. All help is appreciated, please do stick to the question! Readme:
