Are there any plans to add Passkeys to the Login Method in the Future? Thanks
-
Currently the only two factor option that is allowed is via an authenticator app (eg Google Auth). This is somewhat limited as it requires any user who is attempting to log in to have their phone at hand - something that can be annoying at times, possibly impossible at others, and can also lead to 2FA lockouts. So, it would be nice to have alternative 2FA options to select from, especially device-based passkeys. This would also allow for secondary 2FA recovery methods, where currently the only options are recovery codes and a billing statement from Premium users. As a slight extension, being able to then use this passkey directly from Vortex to log in would also be nice.

Do they own you? Usernames are a permanence, a permanence I cannot allow! Do you know how many Colemans there are in the world? Much like how Messages on NexusMods Messenger shouldn't be so permanent, neither should usernames and or gamertags, name yourself what you want. Were I to find someone with my exact same name as me I would be curious, so I would select the account to see just how similar or different our accounts are, there's only so much a person can mimic and it's those few similarities that accounts should focus on when creating an account, and I'm sure the person who owns the website can know for sure who's who. Does anyone else have an idea of what one could do to keep track of account info, either here on NexusMods or on any other account? No more permanent usernames, no more permanent gamertags, free naming for all accounts! What about location tracking? Facial ID? Payment method? Surely there has to be something better than typing a bunch of letters and numbers in trying to make a name, only for the account owner to hold it permanently.

The freedom to delete and edit your posts at any time, without penalty, without friction, without permanence — that’s the core of what I’m advocating for. Not usernames. Not ranks. Not points. Not roles. Autonomy. The ability to control your own presence on a platform without being punished for it. That’s a modern, user‑rights expectation, and I’m trying to frame it constructively rather than confrontationally. 1. Username recycling isn’t the real issue. I understand that deleted accounts get renamed to “Deleted{USERID}User” and the original username becomes available again. My concern isn’t about reclaiming someone else’s name — it’s about the feeling of permanence around identity on Nexus. Even if the username can be reused, the identity model still feels rigid and “one‑way” because it’s tied to points, history, and reputation. 2. The points system is what creates that permanence. If points are tied to posts, and deleting posts removes points, then users are effectively discouraged from cleaning up their own history. That’s where the permanence comes from — not the username itself, but the way identity is tied to activity that can’t be freely edited or removed without penalty. 3. That’s why I suggested a flexible “role tag” system. Something users can change at any time, like: Apprentice Explorer Contributor Creator Veteran Mod Author This gives people a way to define themselves without relying on permanent usernames or point‑based identity. It also avoids the problem of points being tied to deletable content. 4. The goal isn’t to replace ranks — it’s to modernize identity. The current ranks are fine, but they’re static and tied to post count. A user‑controlled tag system would give people a sense of identity that isn’t locked to their history or activity level. 5. I’m not requesting a GDPR erasure. I’m only mentioning it because right now, a full data‑deletion request is the only way for a user to completely reset their identity and remove their history. That’s obviously a heavy process for both the user and the staff, and not something anyone wants to rely on for normal identity management. That’s why I’m suggesting lighter, more flexible identity tools — things like user‑controlled role tags or a more modern separation between username, points, and personal history. These would give users more autonomy without needing to resort to something as drastic as a GDPR request. 6. One related idea about user comfort and safety. I once had to remove my avatar because I wasn’t sure if it would be interpreted as NSFW, and it made me feel like I was on thin ice even though I wasn’t trying to break any rules. Have you considered using lightweight AI blurring for avatars the same way the site already blurs adult mod thumbnails? It could simply tie into the existing “Show Adult Content” toggle: blurred for users who have it off visible for users who opt in This would reduce moderation pressure and give users a safer buffer without restricting creativity. It also helps avoid situations where users receive warnings over borderline cases that weren’t intended to break any rules. Overall: I’m looking for solutions that reduce the need for heavy measures like GDPR erasure and give users more control over how they present themselves on Nexus — without adding friction for staff or moderators.

I can't be alone in wishing for a premium version that I don't have to pay monthly for. Make it 200, 500, whatever. I hate subscriptions but I'd pay for permanent premium functionality.

I wish the login pages -- especially the forum login -- would remember what page the user was on or or was going to, instead of dumping them at the main page. I and another user or two frequently tell people in the general modding forums how to get to the specific-game forums, because the Forums link on that game's section of the main site won't take them to their game's forums unless they're already logged into the forums. And they're not going to be logged in already unless they're the rare forum regular like I am. This seems like a significant usability issue for random users looking for help.

I'd like to suggest adding support for passkey-based login (FIDO2/WebAuthn). It's way more secure than passwords and works great with password managers like 1Password or Bitwarden. Passkeys are easier to use, work across devices, and don’t rely on typing in passwords or dealing with 2FA codes every time. A lot of major platforms are moving in this direction, and it’d be great to see Nexus Mods do the same. Here is a link with some additional, more detailed information: https://fidoalliance.org/passkeys/ Thanks.

I recently change my pseudonym from "ElementaryLewis" into "LewisElementary" (no space allowed but won't complain). I'm very surprised this change also apply under the "Created by" of all my mods. Because no... I'm not the creator of all of them. Some are assets made by others that I simply "update" them for the latest game version, others I'm part of a team we made together. This waste me time to redone my +60 mods because of that. Honest people publish a mod who aren't the creator of that said mod, with full given credit (DP included) to the true creator. And it's often good to see a mod was made by multiple author, plus we may give permission to access the mod page. Also, the text box explicitly imply "Author or team name". This is reasonable to say who create it, not who "publish" it. So please, when the publisher changes their pseudonym, it should not change the "creator" name too!

I've noticed that once every week or two I'll be automatically logged out of my Nexus account. While I understand this being a feature for security reasons, often it proves to be a major annoyance since you'll check your notifications and not see anything, or be blocked from viewing a mod flagged as adult content upon refreshing the page. At least an option to disable the feature would be greatly appreciated.

There are probably so many people who only want to mod a single game which usually doesnt even take a day. Like i want to just download a single Modpack for Cyberpunk, but i'm not willing to pay 9 bucks to it, but would be fine with paying 3 bucks for example.

Hello everyone! It is my first post here, so I hope, I've choosen right category! Sometimes I would like to purchase premium for a limited time, but I do not have and I will never have credit card (because it is like a scam for me and I hate that visa and mastercard are forcing active censorship). Same reason for paypal. Paypal is forcing user to link credit card and it is not usable without one. It is very odd for me that almost everywhere I could pay by many options of direct bank transfer, like paysafecard, skrill, Przelewy24 or best of them all - BLIK. Steam has it, most of gaming sites have it. You don't. It's free money going out of your hand. I would buy premium at least for 1 month, becasue downloading modlist without it is annoying, and you would get some cash. But you wont cuz there is no payment option. Now check how many non-premium users you have. Assume 10% thinks like me. And count how much money you are loosing. PLEASE add more payment options. With best regards HeraldOfRuin

Applying premium pricing based solely on a customer’s country results in the cost being disproportionately high in Brazil. When considered in relation to the local minimum wage, the subscription becomes financially unattractive for the average citizen. In practical terms, it feels as though we are paying the equivalent of $50 for the monthly plan.

Account Allow Reordering of Favorited Games from Homepage

Make a drag and drop System, so that you can easily change the order in which the gamers appear. Like in This Example, dragging the Skyrim Icon would slot it in between Fallout 4 and Fallout NV. -
I don't like the recent change to the "Ignore" feature. Ignoring a mod author now hides everything they do, which isn't helpful for how I use the site. I used to block authors because I wasn't interested in the types of mods they created. It helped filter out content I didn’t want to see, especially since your filtering system isn’t as precise as I need it to be. Please bring back the option to block specific mods without completely hiding everything from the author. The current approach is too extreme.

Today, I use either notepad or folders with bookmarks in the browser to make lists of mods: for example, a list of mods that I tried but didn't like them or I found a better option; a list of mods that I'm interested in and in the future I may install. Can you add the ability to create similar lists of mods directly on the site and linked to your personal account, with the ability to edit these lists in vortex ? Yes, these lists partially coincide with the list of tracked mods, so today it is not enough just to create a list of mods that have been completely abandoned or replaced with something

This may have been suggested previously but a handful of searches didn't find it. Essentially, this would be working something out with Steam, GOG< and Epic to be able to link our accounts there and have a place (probably under the Games drop-down) that we can go to that shows all games we have in our libraries and links them directly to their respective games listings in Nexus. This is... a trivially small thing (in terms of what it provides; I'm aware it would be quite an undertaking using the integrations and API in terms of actual implementation) that can be handled by just searching for the game you're going to be playing, but at the same time, it'd be nice to have a quick way to go to mods for the games you have. ...yes, I just made a suggestion for a fairly significant coding change that adds several additional clicks through menus instead of just searching. I'm sorry. It _would_ be kind of nice, though.

I want to be able to block other Nexus members from actually seeing or interacting with my content. The Ignore function treats YOU like the blocked individual, limits what you yourself are seeing (fair enough to not see their stuff either but...) and leaves you wide open to the subject in question. I don't see how there is any way to be free of those who have trolled and had my content erroneously and maliciously reported in the past. Other sites have full block functions. There's no reason for the Nexus to leave that out. Moderator reports have gone unanswered when I've tried to report offenses, so all I have available are whatever blocking tools I've been given, which are none unless they have already commented on something. I want them to never see me or my stuff in the first place, and this is the least stressful situation. Please give us a full Block function so we can determine who we actually want to have looking at our stuff, because many out there have the worst of intentions.

Hello, I just not noticed that the "Last Active On" date doesn't work (at least for me). Even I have signed out and signed in today and on 1st of June 2024 posted a video, but my "Last Active On" shows as 20th May 2024. Could you please verify if this happens only for me or is this an issue for everyone? Thanks RADRR1985

Title, basically the new profile doesn't account for all images posted For example in my profile the latest image I posted, which was 2 days ago, isn't there. It used to be there before the new profile. Just wondering because I like to follow what a few users are posting and if images they post don't appear then I might miss some images. Is it slow updating? I gave it 2 days it's plenty of time Just wondering and wanted to report this. Thanks!

There is currently an issue uploading profile pictures in the latest Firefox 120.0.1 (it works in old versions). This issue is exhibited by the "Upload" button that shows after cropping the new image (shown below) Workaround This issue is the result of Firefox's "Enhanced Tracking Protection" feature. Click the shield in the URL bar to turn this off and upload as normal.

The entirety of my download history has just disappeared. I am unsure of how this happened as I could see my history yesterday. I have tried signing out then signing back in and restarting my computer but nothing has worked. Is this something on my end?

Hello. I'm new on the nexus, really this is my first ever forum post ever. I don't know on which discussion I should post this topic in but this seems most appropriate- if it is not, I apologize. I'm not sure if this is region specific or not, but I am really starting to get frustrated with this. If you are in Australia also and are experiencing the same thing, I'd appreciate knowing. A few days ago, I tried to go onto nexusmods (I use google chrome) because I wanted to change up my load order, and add something new. However, the website wouldn't load. At all. Whenever I try to load it, the page says: "This site can’t be reached The connection was reset." I tried using internet explorer, and came up with a similar result: "Can’t connect securely to this page This might be because the site uses outdated or unsafe TLS security settings. If this keeps happening, try contacting the website’s owner." I ended up going to iidrn.com to see if the server was down, however last time I checked, it says it's running fine. So I don't know what the issue is, but it just refuses to load for me. As far as I know, my nexus mod manager client itself can connect just fine, it is just the matter of accessing the website that is the issue. I'm able to access the website on my phone's browser, yet not my computer. I may use my phone as a hotspot to load the pages until I can fix this, but it's not the best long-term solution. Searching online so far has garnered no result, and I have no idea on where to even start to try and remedy this. I'm starting to think it may be something to do with my internet connection- please note that all other usual websites are running fine though- or my ISP, because it works fine on my phone, but not on my computer. But as I said, I still don't know what to do to gain access to the website again, normally. In short: nexusmods.com is completely inaccessible (will not load, "site can't be reached") for me, and has been so for the past two days- possibly more, but I hadn't attempted to access it before then. Help?

My account often logs in on public devices, and sometimes I forget to log out, which causes others to use my account. I have tried changing my password and email, but still cannot log out. Is there any way to log out of all accounts uniformly?
