  1. Adding a more organic touch of homelyness to the items avaliable would probably make settlements actually feel more inhabited- Things like fabrics, awnings, sheets and curtains, along with small things like pillows would really add atmosphere. (Perhaps even slight waving in the wind, similar to trees, for some) Even if it's all ruins and shantytown, the people are still human, and would most likely try and make/want to have it as livable as possible- filling their homes with colours in a bleak world. There might also be instruments, which the world seems absolutely devoid of. This, along with a slightly cleaned up floors, removing the smashed tin cans and bricks littering the indoor flooring, and generally just adding a softness of living? Things actually created post-war, that aren't just scavenged- a straw bed with fabrics strewn across, a dreamcatcher, single stone tiles for making paths, lanterns... Additional foundations would also be good, and being able to almost seamlessly continue actual inworld floors, as well as objects functioning as patchwork for the broken holes in walls and ceilings. (since clipping a floor up there looks a bit wonky owo; )
  2. I've found that most indoor permanent buildings have absolutely terrible meshes for where I can place furniture - I don't want to place bookshelves half a metre from the actual wall. Some form of trimming, or cleanup of the major settlements and their buildings/surroundings would be really nice. Not just the "allow placement in red positions" cheat thing. Clipping is bad.
  3. So, I just thought i'd stop by and start a random discussion. While losing much of my creative thinking due to working so much lately. I figured i'd brainstorm.. LORE FRIENDLY MODS: --Why i think they are important-- A lore friendly mod is integral to a game because, in keeping with the possible expansion of the series' territory it gives the player a sense of balance, whether knowingly or not that can not be found in more dynamic and intrusive mods. Thus, the overall sum of many lore friendly mods is not only in keeping with the traditional methods of modding but in and of itself furnishing the game-play with a much needed missing element. That element being solely, the presence of completeness.I believe you can have a game that is as silly as you want. It is YOUR game after all. But sometimes you want to play it different or understand it better. When a lore friendly mod is introduced it opens a new experience for seasoned as well as new modders to enjoy. And despite a Lore friendly mods reputation for being scrutinized on the basis that it "constricts" imagination and limits the player/modder to certain confines. It simply isn't true. For if it was, the game developers would never be able to introduce a new game later. Which as we all know. There is always a new game.Simply put, they are fun. So, now you've read all that banter, surely you're thinking "Why be so in depth for such a simple concept? This doesn't even seem that important." Well, here is my reasoning: In my search of creative ideas i thought i'd visit the Fallout wiki. Upon my exploration i found some good ideas and wanted to share them with you all and maybe bring to surface new ideas. For quest/armor/weapons... anything actually. Because, first and foremost i'm seeing a lot of requests for things that have been done again and again. Essentially I'm trying to stew the cauldron of creative thinking. Which seems to die so fast these days. Not only is this an endeavor to help come up with ideas and get the request thread to start requesting more realistic, albeit entertaining, enjoyable mods, it's to show new modders that you don't NEED a 200ft pink bunny that shoots laser cannons to have an enjoyable time modding (not that it isn't fun). Here are a few things i took note of while browsing the wiki and thought would maybe steer people in new directions as far as creating and developing lore friendly mods all the while maintaining much of the uniqueness of any one persons ideas. These are basic observations at best, but perhaps they will inspire others to create great things. Read at your own discretion, it may be kind of long! Regarding WW2: The Nazi party was destroyed. However, the Soviet Union remained intact before the divergence. Why is this important? Because, According to lore, the US did not have hostile relations after the war (They were far too focused on China). Despite much of the "Communist Propaganda" found about the fallout games, much of the relations between the US and USSR had reached an agreeable level. (travel between the countries was permitted even). This leads to mods regarding Soviet forces, weapons, uniforms, items, being found in the fallout games, much more lore friendly then previously thought. (Russian visitors perhaps?) Hmm...http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Soviet_UnionIf the West was JUST at war with Germany and Japan. There would no doubt be references to that war as well found in the halted society. So far, i've seen none. All kinds of war "trophies" would've been brought back to America, some examples are Walther p38 pistols, German helmets, Japanese weapons etc. The United States: This one is kind of a catch-all kind of resource. Because it goes without saying; yes we have the entirety of the USA to use for our mods. Whether it's creating another worldspace or linking to something that's happened or has come from somewhere else. There is always something that can be looked up and made. http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/United_States Some other things/places in America to possibly delve into:The different commonwealths and their factions/happenings. (Ex. Midwestern BoS, and other BoS can be found in several states)The Annexation of Canada by the US. (I immediately think, where are the Canadian freedom fighters? Surely there is some somewhere).http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/United_States_Armed_Forces This is a big area that, the series really doesn't like to get into it seems. Purely because its presence would negate a lot of what has happened in the case of the nuclear war. Because surely the navy would have more then a few ships at sea. And the army and airforce are mentioned much more then the other branches. They do mention that since the chain of command was broken there are in fact many splinter groups of troops remaining(enclave,BoS are exactly that.). Which means much of the military is probably still existent.Oh, Mexico got annexed too.Enclave is just the Pre-war government, they are your typical greedy government officials and military..the BoS is US Army deserters. Do with that as you will. There was in fact a Nuclear WinterAnyhow those are just some ideas, It is getting late and time for bed. In the meantime, what aspects to the lore of the game do YOU think could be best applied? What do you think are some cool things that could be made/done or explored further? maybe we can try making something happen! Here is some useful pages to help come up with ideas: http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Timeline#1942 (timeline of the fallout universe) https://mapsengine.google.com/map/edit?mid=zy5erQ51ukcU.ktGYzdDqm_wA (interactive map of the fallout universe, places where things have happened etc.)
  4. I humbly request a talented modder to collaborate with Arthmoor on his Alternate Start - Live Another Life mod. The request is straightforward enough: Develop the "Outlaw" and "Warlock's Thrall" options further, as well as any others you might think need more depth. The requests to Arthmoor are quoted below. It it a little lackluster to start out in a bandit camp but none of the bandits really do anything, have any scripted dialogue, names, or any sense of personality. If you are the type of modder good at adding in new NPCs that could be possible followers and giving an area a sense of depth then you'd be perfect to take the Outlaw option to the next level. As for the Thrall option, if there was some sort of quest or quest-like structure to it to where you feel you are truly trying to escape a deadly situation, that'd be awesome! Even if it just a combat-based start with some Vigilants or others bursting in to slay the warlock and you happen to have broke the warlock's hold on you around the same time... possibly waiting for your chance to kill the warlock before they realized you were not under their thrall anymore. PLEASE contact Arthmoor first before developing anything. He said he would definitely want to add any outside developments to the main mod so that they can be updated instead of having patches floating around.
  5. Hello, Im browsing trough mods but cant find anything that mentions global "debug mode" or anything that allows people to craft without resources. Is there anything you guys reccomend?
  6. I find myself often saying "I wish there were a mod for that". so I'm pleading with mod-makers to think about these. idk if any of these may already exist, but these are a few thoughts i had for mods that could make things fun! if there are mods like these floating around please let me know. Thank you! 1. Different weapons that are added to the game, with special power moves, that might use a new "forest magic" mana bar. 2. Mods that are designed for a group to play the game competitively. Mainly a farm map with separate feilds for players to be "neighbors", with multiple exit paths near each house instead of just the host player having the advantage. This could also be done by Placing the exit paths in between each players territory... There could be other mods that support competitive multiplayer games as well to help keep a fair balance, Such as changing the traveling merchant, completing bundles, Or possibly creating a point system that actually keeps score on certain goals throughout the game. 3. Increase the speed of the Junimos working. it drives me crazy how slowly they harvest crops, they take so long that sometimes they can't even harvest everything within the huts range before they have to call it a day. 4. Make the Trains a lot more worth while. Not much else to say about that. 5. Add a radio that can be carried and play music that follows the player, similar to the jukebox playing music. Maybe create a radio station just outside of town, with a DJ that gives away prizes to lucky callers who can answer questions about the world. 6. A Detective NPC who comes to town to investigate a missing something. after you find the item for him, he becomes a quest giver for all kinds of unsolved mysteries around stardew valley. 7. Meet the train conductor, and then be able to actually use the train station as a way to travel to a new area far away, just like paying to use the bus or boat. (maybe where radio station is?) 8. introduce some new monsters, and boss monsters that drop very rare and valuable items. some monsters could drop a little coin money too. that'd be nice. 9. Create a Local Talent show as a festival. with judges from the city, and multiple villagers can show off their individual talents or hobbies to win a prize. you can also compete. just a thought, but when you reach level ten in a skill, you are then able to craft a special item to present as your talent. Each skill has its own special display item. 10. make the alter of Yoba do something. it seems like it could be made to have an effect or change to the town, just like the other alters in the game. you could make an offering and it might cause different effects depending on what item you put into it. Anyway, please consider these thoughts as potential mods for the future. Keep being awesome you guys!
  7. A new chapter for modding ladies and gentlemen! The mission of this post is as follows: To bring together a group of individuals with different talents in order to create the next big mod and bring enjoyment to the community. All creatives come forth and bring everything you've got to the table. If mods are more to you than keeping a game relevant, then lets get together. Willing to exchange email or even phone number if we can get a good group together. I offer: Leadership Storyboard/direction Writing Voice acting (Im sure everyone on here is but) In-depth game knowledge Character modeling Support for the ones writing code? Im sure there are plenty around with better skills but that is exactly why this post is being made. Lets get together make some art!
