  1. Hello, I'm just wondering which hardware currently available on the market has by far the fastest rendering and processing results in CK - world creation, world zooming/moving, etc. to reach very high FPS during work in the CK. Which CPU/GPU/RAM would be advisable here? Thank you in advance. Edited post: Turned out FPS is not so trustworthy, far more interesting is rendering (real-)time. I found RAM to be the culprit and GPU is not so important, with the following applied: - DDR4/5 32 GB+ - L3 Cache 20MB+ - NVME/SSD File/Preferences...: - .../Render Window: Grids to load 1, which must be done after each startup, since it cannot be configured via INI, at least it does not work on my end when modifying the INI. Top Bar: - disable "Toogle Light (A)" - disable "Toogle Lights (6)" Show/Hide: - Markers/Misc Markers - disable "Decals" - disable "Object Hidden From Local Map" Render Window: - push "T" to set default angle on top of object
  2. I recently got a new GPU. A GeForce RTX 3050. My old one had been quite a special fanless 4GB Geforce 1050Ti (I think). My processor is a Core i7 6700T, and I have 32GB of fast RAM. I'm running Morrowind from an SSD. I basically bought the new GPU exclusively for Morrowind, as I was hoping that it would help run it absolutely smooth as silk even with all the modern bells and whistles available through MGEXE. Frankly, it hasn't made any noticeable difference at all. The fans on the GPU don't even switch on when playing Morrowind! Contrast with RDR2 (for example), where my computer is now pretty loud and gets very warm! Does Morrowind (not OpenMW - don't want to use that as so many of my favourite mods are MWSE dependent) actually not make much use of modern GPUs? Have I upgraded from my perfectly good (and totally silent) GPU in vain? Many thanks for any suggestions. And yes, I do understand that OpenMW is definitely the way to go for performance on a modern system - but until I can replicate my current gameplay experience using OpenMW, no thank you.
  3. Hi, I'm new to modding but I'm running 123 mods and ENB at the moment and I seem to have fixed my ctd issues. Anyway, my fps gets pretty low inside towns and also certain parts outside. I think it's mostly due to Immersive Citizens and JK cities and towns mods. When I look into the town Whiterun from the entrance i get somewhere between 20-40 fps with a gpu usage of 40% but when i turn and face a wall my fps shoots up to 55 + but so does my gpu usage% (which doesn't seem to go above 75% on Nvidea and task manager except when it still spiked and ctd). To me that seems counterintuitive because I would rather have my gpu work harder to render the whole town than just a wall right in front of me. My cpu usage is consistently very low and changing the reservedmemory setting from 128 to 1024 or anything in between doesn't seem to do anything at all. Since my designated gpu memory is set to 8 gb I set the memory setting to 8000. I do have a second screen which I believe might use the other 8 gb of my total gpu memory but honestly I've got no idea. Any clarification on my questions would be appreciated. To be honest my game didn't even feel that bad with 10 guards trying to tickle my character. In the second image/link below u'll see my fps at 15. However as soon as i move the camera that goes up a bit again up to 45 depending. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/images/790206 https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/images/790207 GeForce rtx 2070 Amd Ryzen 7 2700x 8core 15.95 GB ram 1920x1080 60 hz (x2) Btw I feel like I fixed my ctd by removing fps limit on enb (keeping AA and vsync on) and disabling AA related, triple buffering and texture related on nvidea(vsync on) and adding fps limit there both on tesv.exe and skse_loader.exe. Likely some of these changes are completely pointless but my game hasn't crashed in a couple hours while i had alot of ctd before. From walking around to opening different menu's everything seemed to crash my game.
  4. I struggling to find the way to take a screenshot in 4k. The first thing I found was original skyrim tutorial on youtube. So i edited the resolution on Skyrimprefs.ini after that i need to find "AddDisplaySuperSamplingResolutions=true" on enblocal.ini but I ended up not found it. It's not even exist. I tried to add the line but it doesn't work And the result is the screen is getting zoomed in a lot bc The only thing that work is the resolution in prefs file but without enb supersampling resolution help I guess. So i tried another method is enable DSR on Nvidia control panel but again DSR options didn't even exist maybe because I use laptop Idk. And the last thing is to use custom resolution on nvidia control panel but the display tag is missing I tried to search this (enb method) on SE version instead of original one that I found but I've got nothing My gpu : Gtx 1660ti And I played on my laptop
  5. I'm hoping to upgrade my graphics card sometime soon. I used a AMD Radeon R7 370 4gb which worked well except for the purple sights on certain weapon reflex sights. When that went bad I decided to go the NVidia route: https://www.newegg.com/msi-geforce-gtx-1650-gtx-1650-d6-ventus-xs-oc/p/N82E16814137529?Item=9SIAVT8E3X4300 While it does the job for the most part, I did not realize this until I unboxed it, but it does not have the 6pin power connection unlike the AMD I had, kinda threw me off at first but that's how it is. Unfortunately, I feel this limits its ability and power. HD textures just dont want to load after a while, it lags with HD textures/models, etc. When I bought it, I was kinda on a budget and it was the only one within my bracket. I am hoping to upgrade soon, so I'm wondering what card I should get next time. I'm still on a budget (no more than $600-$700) but this time I am saving up for it, and would like to stick with NVidia if possible. Thank you for any input.
  6. Hi yall! I recently built a PC so I can enjoy gaming in 4K. Skyrim's my fave and I thought it could be heavily modded without a major performance hit. I'm not crazy about FPS, but would prefer to keep it above 50, 55. My current pc: MB: Gigabyte Aorus Elite V2 (rev.1) GPU: ROG Strix RX 6900 XT Liquid Cooled CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X (with a 240mm Gallahad AIO) RAM: 2x8Gb DDR4 Sniper 3600MHz CL16 SSD: WD SN750 I thought that this would would support Skyrim 2020 Parallax (with 4k / 2k textures), several 2k textures for armors and such, Tamriel Master Lighting, Window Shadows RT, Rudy ENB for Cathedral Weathers and DynDOLOD with 512 textures and High settings, in 4K resolution. Thing is: in most inside spaces, it seems to get around 50fps, which is fine for me, but in some outside zones and some rooms with 2 or 3 lighting sources, it seems to drop to low 20s. Is this normal for this type of rig? Would I get some benefit from upgrading the CPU and/or RAM? I would love some advice on this matter. Thanks!
  7. Hi Nexus! I just decided to give 'ol Skyrim another go, but I am running into problems with FPS. The game runs at about 15-25 FPS with both GPU and CPU usage hovering around 5-9% load. Also experiencing incredible long load times (5-10 mins sometimes) when entering a new instance or Fast Traveling. This should not happen with my PC. *CPU - i7-6700k @4.7GHz *GPU - GTX 1080 FTW (8GB VRam) *Memory - 16GB DDR4 *SSD - Intel 600P NVMe PCIe Gen3 x4 *OS - Windows 10 Home *Monitor - Acer X34 Predator (G-Sync 100Hz, 3440x1440p) *Game - Skyrim Legendary Edition Steam (Steam install dir) *Edit* Baseline textures in mods is about 1K-2K. Only used 4K for some special items. Did an almost complete S.T.E.P 2 Core modding, then added some personal favorites. Mostly new lands, weapons/armors and character improvements. I am using Mod Organizer, SKSE, LOOT, WryeBash (bashedpatch) and TES5Edit (all launched from within MO) 0 Warnings or Dirty Plugins in LOOT, cleaned with TES5Edit. Tried with and without ENB. Currently only using ENBoost set up like S.T.E.P recommends: http://wiki.step-project.com/ENBoost#Recommendations Power Management in Nvidia Control Panel is set to "Prefer Maximum Performance". VSync is off. (G-sync) Sometimes, rarely, the GPU usage increases to about 80-84% and I get buttery smooth 100 FPS (limited cap set by MSI Afterburner). Sadly this only lasts a few minutes, then GPU Usage goes down to about 8% again and I get the usual 15-25 fps. As for load times, the game itself is installed on system drive (NVMe SSD 512GB, 195 GB free) with Steam in Steam dir, but Mod Organizer and it's mods are on a 2TB 7200 rpm HDD (Perhaps this makes the load times sooo long?) I can't wrap my head around what it is I am doing wrong... Please, help. Tell me what I missed to include in this post as well. enblocal.ini
  8. Community, I currently have an R9 390 on my system and I, like most, play with an excessive amount of mods and utilize ENB. The issue I have is that, despite my best efforts, my FPS are all over the place in outdoor environments and but generally range from 20-45 (with indoor environments running 60-100+). I play only in 1080P at 60Hz. I know a lot of this has to do with the nature of the engine, memory limits, ENB workarounds, etc. My question is that if I upgrade my GPU - say to a GTX1070 (with the 1080 out of the question for now) will that have a meaningful effect/impact on playing modded skyrim vs. the R9 390? I know I will save on power consumption but is it worth the cost and hassle? Success, to me, would be running 40+ FPS in outdoor environments and never really falling below that. I will only upgrade for Skyrim as the R9 390 kills any other game I throw at it at 1080P. Thanks for all your help! System: CPU: AMD FX 8370 @4.1gz GPU: R9 390 Memory: 16GB OS: Win 10
  9. Hope everyone had a great Christmas, I sure did but am now left with an upgrade prob. Just need a few opinions. I run a Sapphire Dual X R9 270X (Radeon) and cant complain about, it works great but not getting fps should be so am planning on upgrade. Mainly only play FO4 (255mods) or watch movies but hold of a 2160P movie (57GB) and outta 6 players, only VLC will even attempt to show it. I know... 2160 on a 1080 not a good practice. But question is.... I am going to get a new card before i get a new TV for sure, so if going towards the top end of the line, just how important is 4K in a card if only have a 1080 screen and hope to use for another year before swapping it out? I dont wanna skimp on but a Titan would be too much though a GeForce GTX 1080 could be done. Basically asking if that would be considered overkill and should get a lesser card and use saved money to upgrade MB or CPU with. I do plan on a whole complete re-vamp of system soon so kinda leaning towards a keepable video card. As said... opinions anyone? Specs are: I7 860 Quad@ 3.67 Asus P7P55D-E PRO 16GB Ripjaw Sapphire Dual X R9 270X Win10Pro64bit 16TB on 6 drives Corsair RM1000 PS Corsair H100I GTX water cooling 42" 1080p Phillips TV
  10. Hello guys, I have a giant problem with stutter in cities. The stutter pretty much only happens in cities and while turning. If I stand still for a second everything runs fine again. It doesn't seem to be a V-Sync issue (iPresentInterval is 0 and enblocal has vsync enabled). Furthermore my GPU usage never reaches 100% and the FPS drops and stutter even happen at 30% usage. Maybe the VRAM is the problem (I'm on Windows 10 but only have 4GB anyway). I already tried increasing ReservedMemorySIze to 1024 but that didn't help. Do I really just need to reduce texture mods or is it another problem?
  11. As the tags say, I'm having issues with Skyrim stuttering and temporary freezes. Like, when it freezes I can still hear everything in-game and it won't ever stay that way for more than 10-30sec. I've tried almost everything from; using STEP and following the guide to a T when setting up .ini's. As well as using Crash fixes, SKSE Plugin Preloader, One Tweak, LOOT, TES5Edit, and referring to STEP. I have included information about what's going on below. If there is anything else someone can think of PLEASE let me know. I've spent at LEAST 15hours trying to figure out wth is going on. Load Order System Performance I've also, encountered this problem as well. I don't know if it relates all. I just thought I would throw it in there as I am having issues with it as well. It has happened twice. Once when loading one of my saves (i fixed by reinstalling Closer quivers and AGO mods, then organizing LOOT again) and the other time was just random after playing for about 30min.
  12. This will be a fairly detailed post, so please don't feel like you must read all of it in order to help. I simply posted as much information as I could in order to better assist those who may want to provide aid. I've been doing quite a bit of testing and tweaking and I feel like I've got a handle of most of the tweaks I could possibly do to improve my system performance, but I still can't seem to figure out this issue, which is that my GPU has constantly low usage, resulting in low FPS. I've done many test runs with Skyrim Performance Monitor, and it reports about an average of 30 for interiors, 40-45 for cities, and 60-65 for exteriors, which each area increasing in framerate along with the GPU usage. CPU usage is also consistently low, but it doesn't seem to be tied to my framerate much. VRAM and RAM are both consistently high ( 3200MB interior 5500MB exterior for VRAM, RAM usually is about the same as VRAM). I initally thought that this must be related to the VRAM limit since I'm using Windows 10, but after updating to Insider Build 16232 (this build fixes the DX9 issues for those unaware still), I still have extremely low GPU usage. Stability has increased, however, and I stutter a lot less since updating. I do know that this is tied to GPU usage, seeing as whenever my GPU usage does decide to go higher, my FPS increases significantly. Does anyone know what could be causing this? Hardware: Software: Load Order: skyrim.ini: skyrimprefs.ini: skse.ini: enblocal.ini: Additional Notes: To anyone who has made it to the end of this post or is willing to lend a helping hand, thank you very much. Your help is extremely appreciated.
  13. First of all, my Specs: Video Card Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits Amd Fx - 6300 Six-core processor (6 CPU 3.5GHz) 8192 MB RAM DDR3 Directx 11 Hello, I am having problems with my fps in the game when I use mods, and when they are disabled the fps increases and drops do not occur. But using a program to monitor my PC, I realized that when I activate the mods, 2 cores of my processors are around 0% of use and the video card loses 20% of use. I wonder if anyone has any idea what it can be and I took 2 SS showing what happens. I'm at the entrance to Riften: http://imageshack.com/a/img924/4378/3yrYFq.jpg Remembering that I not only get an average of 50 frames with the mods but also I have falls for up to 30 frames sometimes. But what intrigues me is that 2 cores are not used and a third uses 20%, and the video card loses 20% of use. The correct would happen to the contrary, increase the use of everything since with more mods should I use more of my pc, or not?Any suggestion?
  14. I just need to know how much VRAM is good enough. And maybe with a number of mods, plugins, or basically just a good list to follow so anyone on a low system can even figure out what mods they can really use. I am planning to get a new graphics card, so I need to know how much would be able to handle a long range without CTD a lot or just ending up at 2 FPS.
  15. Yes, another one of these, sorry. Here are my specs: OS: Windows 10 Home 64-Bit Processor: AMD Athlon II X4 630 Processor (4 CPUs), ~2.8GHz Graphics Card: Microsoft Basic Display Adapter System RAM: 4 GB Resolution: 1280 x 1024 ---- The most important thing is I really want to use mods, and have a good ENB. What is the cheapest that could get me medium quality, 30fps? What is the cheapest that could get me ultra-high, 60fps? (Both with mods and ENB) I don't have too much money. $150 is the most I could pay for a graphics card, even that is a stretch. I know I have to upgrade the graphics card. Do I need to upgrade anything else?
  16. I reinstalled skyrim and stuffed it full of mods. It runs incredibly well off my 760... for 10 minutes. I've read some other threads about gpu slowdowns, but it seems that they're mainly caused by GPU overheating, but that's not the case here. I use Afterburner's on screen display to keep track of a few vitals, including temp and GPU usage, and the temperature never goes beyond 60 (anyway, I'd hear it before it became an issue). The interesting thing is this: the GPU usage begins at >100% because I increased my TDP via Afterburner. For a while it stays there. But once I start to notice the fps slowdown and check the GPU usage, it's dropped to 30-50%. It's like it decides to just fall asleep. It isn't a memory issue either because I keep track of that too and I've changed my settings so that it never hits the VRAM limit. Has anyone seen this issue before? Any ideas on how to fix this? As a side note, this is purely a Skyrim issue. FO4 does not have this problem and neither does any other game I've played.
  17. My nvidia GTX 750ti 2gb cannot run Skyrim even on vanilla very well without lag. Now i would understand if my gpu simply wasn't enough to run the game, but many people have reported playing vanilla Skyrim at very good frame-rates on ultra with this card, and yet i'm stuck with about 40 fps in most areas on lowest settings. And, in some areas, my gpu usage simply drops for looking at a certain object or building, causing lag. A good example of this is when i go to Bthardamz. If i stand in the nearby camp, and look towards the center of the map, my gpu usage is at about 50% and my frame-rate is around 50fps, whereas if i turn around and look in the direction of Bthardamz, my fps drops off to about 15fps, and my gpu usage drops to 20%. Any help would be really appreciated. :-)
  18. Hey guys, I came back to Skyrim 2 weeks ago and decided to just to uninstall the game and MO so that I had a clean install. I am not installing a ton of mods, but I'm trying to get it to look decent graphically. The issue I'm having is that it's like no matter what combination of texture mods I use (even performance versions), my Vram is always too high. 1900MB is non-intensive areas, and 2033+ in more intensive areas. I also get stutters when it's trying to swap out info in the ram. So it'll run fine for most areas but then crashes when having to load new areas or intensive areas. I have, of course, installed things like SSME for the memory patch. Reduced AA, tried a TON of different INI tweaks, etc.. The graphical mods I'm running (or have tried) Skyrim 2K HD SMIM Skyrim Flora Overhaul ELFX Water Two Vivid Landscapes ( regular and performance, no longer using) Tamriel Reloaded HD (no longer using) Unique Grasses and Groundcovers (no longer using) I'm also running: Immersive Armors aMidianBorn Book of Silence - Armors, Creatures, Weapons Jaysus Swords Better Males Better Females Quality World Map w/ Roads Ultimate HD Fire Effects Unofficial Legendary Skyrim Patch And that's pretty much it besides SKSE, Skyui, Archery Overhauil, RaceMenu, Inigo, Quickloot, iHUD, Better Dialogue, Imaginator, and all DLC's I am NOT using an ENB preset. I do not even have the ENB files in the Skyrim folder. So, as you can see, I'm not running a lot of mods here. To be honest, I remember modding it much much more heavily in the past with less issues. I know the issue is memory, it's easy to see that. I have the graphical horsepower, but lack the vram PC Specs: i5 2500k @ 4.5Ghz 16GB RAM 3 Samsung 256GB SSD's 2TB WD (2) GTX 660TI's in SLI (2gb) <------issue AX860i PSU CPU is also watercooled with custom 360 rad So it's not a bad PC. I know if I use an ENB, I can set my vram to like 2000 in enblocal (i think). but I'm not using an ENB. Can you use the ENB files without a preset and NOT add anymore vram/gpu usage to the game? Or is there anyway I can limit the amount of Vram the game can use? Like tell it that it only has 1900MB to use so that if it goes over slightly, it won't crash?? Any help would be greatly appreciated here guys. Thanks!
  19. So, My PC won't use my Nvidia Graphics card for games/The system in General. It uses the Intel ® Graphics instead which results in poor performance when I mod my game. I've tried Reinstalling the driver for my GPU, disabling the Intel Graphics. Changing the Skyrimprefs.ini file to my GTX GPU ( But it crashes as I launch the skyrim launcher). The thing is, I don't know if skyrim is using my Nvidia card or the Intel ®, since i've installed an ENB, and in the main menu of Skyrim it says that its using my Intel ® Graphics. But basically I want my system and Skyrim to use my Nvidia card, and yes, i've gone into the Nvidia Control Panel and set the 3D settings to use my High-Performance Nvidia Processor. PC SPECS AND MODEL MODEL: Asus ROG GR6 GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 960M RAM/Memory: 8GB/8192MB PROCESSOR: Intel ® Core i5-5200U CPU @2.20GHz (4 CPUs) ~2.2GHz OS: Windows 8.1 DirectX 11 [intel ® HD Graphics 5000]
  20. Hi everyone. I've a little question so gonna ask it through, not need for details. I've i7-4980HQ (Quad-Core, 6MB Cache, up to 4.0GHz w/ Turbo Boost) CPU and NVidia GTX980M GPU. I'm using that 2 mod; http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/44333/? (Auriels Bow - HD Retexture by Alana12) http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/51148/? (Auriels Shield - HD Retexture by Alana12) Both of them has 4k option. Obviously they're requiring a high-end pc. My pc is latest Alienware M17X with max high-end configuration options. But even this, while i'm equipping that auriel bow or aurield shield game freeze for a very short time (about 1,5 second) then continue on 60 fps. (Same problem exist for other 4k texture mods, not only theese 2 mods. They're just for referance). My question is should i upgrade my processor or graphic card to decrease this freeze time or completely get rid of it. Note: There is an option for new alienware laptops called graphics amplifier that allows you to use an external desktop graphic card. I can even buy nvidia titan x so don't hesitate for suggesting graphic cards (if this will solve with graphic card upgrade of course). But if only processor upgrade solve this, well then i must buy a desktop hehe :) Thank you very much
  21. So I am currently waiting on my new CPU and I am wondering if these specs would be able to run skyrim with heavy graphics mods and enbs. Specs: CPU - Intel Core i5-4590 GPU - AMD R9 270 RAM - 16GB DDR3 OS - Windows 8.1 64 bit
  22. ive got 2 spare graphics cards and i want to give one to my friend who just got fallout 4. his graphics card doesnt meet the minimum requirements so im wondering which of these would be better for fallout 4 since i dont have the game to test. gtx 550 ti http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130625 or gtx 650 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130831 i know the 550 ti is minimum requirements but between the two cards im not sure which would be better overall since one has more memory/core clock but the other has better bus speed and memory interface. any help would be appreciated! thank you!
  23. im upgrading my gpu from a r9 280 3gb to a rx570 8gb. does anyone know how good it can handle fallout 4 modded
  24. I am planning out a PC build for my first gaming PC(leaving consoles finally) and I am going to be playing a lot of skyrim with graphics mods and other mods. I have everything planned out except for my gpu and I would like some insight on which one to buy, I have a budget of $250 and it has to be under 11" due to my case(EDIT: I am looking at the r9 270x). I have a list of graphics mods I would like to run. Here it is: Textures(will be using texture combiner) Weapon Retexture Project - WRP Silly Level of Detail - Potions and Poisons -- SLOD PnP Skyrim HD - 2K Textures aMidianBorn Book of Silence Skyrim Realistic Texture Overhaul aMidianBorn Landscape Landscape and Lighting Ultimate Lighting Overhaul Skyrim Flora Overhaul(maybe) Real Clouds Realistic Water Two(maybe) Waves
  25. So I've been playing around with mods and generally my FPS is pretty decent, though at some points I drop, specifically in Whiterun with TAVA (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/19799/?) installed. When I check what my CPU and GPU is doing, I can't help but get a bit confused. As you can se by this http://imgur.com/RumQf3s screenshot, my GPU is only working at max 63%, while my CPU is barely using half of what it can give, yet fps is quite a bit below 60. How can this be?
