  1. Large colored polygons appear after playing the game for a while. Does anyone know what causes this? It always disappears when I quit Skyrim and start it back up. This only happens in my STEP 2.10.0 Mod Organizer profile. I've gone through the STEP guide twice trying to solve this. I have other heavily modded profiles I've played for over a hundred hours that have never had this problem. I've seen it in other colors like red and blue as well. This one happened to be black. It seems to happen more frequently near mountains and more frequently when I backtrack through an area I've visited in the last few minutes. I'm also using ENBoost without the ENB effects. These links both point to a possible incompatibility with enb and skyrim settings, so I'll be trying to tweak AA and anisotropic settings in the mean time. https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrimmods/comments/3bt5nm/help_polygons_of_various_colors_are_everywhere/ http://forum.step-project.com/topic/4084-crazy-flickering-and-polygons/?do=findComment&comment=65449 This Google Drive folder has load order, mod list, inis and a screenshot of Skyrim Performance Monitor for the whole session. The video starts around the 1800 samples mark in Skyrim Performance Monitor. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/10RB2p6ac_WT90Xfgp-_uwkZIOjNHtQac?usp=sharing My system specs are herehttp://wiki.step-project.com/User:Renketsu0/SystemSpecs
  2. NEWS: 1) THE LIST IS COMPLETED: 288 mods updated as today 13/11/16. Any update you know about any of the mods already included in the list, please leave a comment here or on the list itself in Google Spreasheets. Thanks a lot and good day! (Electronauta). 2) If someone want to help to keep updated the list, would be much appreciated, just need a Google account and we can chat privately a bit, so I can give admin permission over the list. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Skyrim Revisited: Legendary Edition (aka SR:LE) (by Neovalen): LIST OF MODS AND THEIR CURRENT STATUS REGARDING THE NEW ""SPECIAL EDITION"" OFFICIAL RELEASE: Just like I did in the STEP forums, I announce here that I'm building and keeping a list based on Neovalen's guide, which I'm playing right now, with their current situation regarding the port to the Special Edition, so you can easily check it. First, a link to the guide itself: http://wiki.step-project.com/User:Neovalen/Skyrim_Revisited_-_Legendary_Edition Why?, because Neovalen's Guide is a excellent one for those (like me) having a low perfomance computer, in my case a i3 socket 1156, with 4 gb ram and a 2 gb 7870 hd radeon video card, the only "fast" device is my SSD 120 gb, but that is, and the guide, along with a few mods from Legacy of the Dragonborn and some followers mods, has worked smoothly in my computer, so, I want to share for those willing to give a try to his guide, but starting with the Special Edition, so an overall view about the situation for most mods included in his guide. While I know there are 2 more updated guides for Skyrim at this moment in the Step Forums, I truly think many of us are following this one as a base, so, there we go: This is the link to the spreadsheet, in Google documents, because is way more easy to keep updated and get the comments from users willing to help: https://docs.google....dit?usp=sharing Please, if you know any update to the mod's situation, or any correction (grammar, technical explanation, errors, etc.), PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT in the spreadsheet, so I can update the list. I will complete it day by day, and also update it with the news I get so far, is someone else is willing to do the same for the others guides present in the STEP forums, feel free to paste and copy mine, and adapt for the right one you are updating. Kudos. Obs.: my english is far from good, so sorry for any grammar error you find it. Thanks.
  3. Hi everyone! I'm new here, and I have some compatibility questions that I'd like your help on! So, I've just recently gotten my first gaming PC specifically to play modded Skyrim. My friend is graciously installing all the mods for me, and he's using STEP. Now, STEP is great, but it doesn't include all the mods I want (most especially, Frostfall!). So now that we've finally got the game stable, my friend is going to install Frostfall, and I'd like him to install a few others too but he doesn't know their compatibility and asked me to find out for myself whether they are compatible. And like I said, I'm really new at this. Thus, after a good bit of time spent in confused research, getting increasingly frustrated, I decided to just ask the people who actually know their stuff. Do any of y'all happen to know whether any of the mods below are compatible with a game using STEP (and for that matter, with each other)? And also load order recommendations, if possible? Frostfall (I assume this one is compatible since my friend is already going to install it, but thought I'd put it anyway just in case)HunterbornReal ShelterRE - Real EstateHearthfire Multiple AdoptionsRealistic Needs and Diseases /OR/ iNeedLive Another LifeSo, help a clueless noob out? If anyone has installed STEP and any of these mods, any tips will be HUGELY appreciated!!! Thank you all so much, in advance!! :D ~literalmind
  4. I was wondering if their is a video showing the step by step guide following these steps (http://wiki.step-project.com/User:Neovalen/Skyrim_Revisited_-_Legendary_Edition). The reason I ask is because there are a few things I don't understand in this guide and I would like to clear out for myself.
  5. hello guys and girls the reason i want to know about this is that i am currently installing the STEP recommendation mods and as you know STEP is about improving and enhance the Skyrim game with keeping it in the vanilla state as possible i have ruined my game before by installing many conflicting mods and uninstalling mods during gameplay and many more things and thats why am starting a new fresh start from the beginning by following the STEP guide SO my question is can i install the Naruto overhaul mod (and maybe it`s related mods) without bugging or ruining the STEP guide ? do i have to do something before installing this mod ? can i install it during the STEP installation mods or should i complete the STEP guide first ? is this mod going to harm my game or is it safe to install ? ( you can also leave recommendations if you want to ) can i play the the side and the main quests in this mod active ? i mean is this mod going to change the main story of the game or replace some quests ? i hope you answer me about my all questions and i wish you the best :) if you have any ideas or suggestions please let me know and i would be glad to see them :)
  6. I recently went through the process of adding the S.T.E.P. core mods, including the creation of the bashed patch following STEPS instructions (http://wiki.step-project.com/Bashed_Patch). Then I added Frostfall, iNeed, and Campfire. At this point everything was working fine--I played through the Helgen sequence with no problem. Then I added Requiem and related patches. Now, I'm getting an error when I enter the keep and Requiem initializes. The error reads: "One of the SkyProc-generated leveled lists did not have the expected size. This most likely means that you created your bashed patch without adding the proper tags to Requiem for the indifferent. Please recreate your patch with proper tags. Also note that we advice [sic] to first create the bashed patch and then the Requiem for the Indifferent... Sincenthis issue has a major impact on Requiem if not resolved now, the game will be aborted at this point..." When I open Wrye Bash and click on Requiem for the Indifferent, I see the "bash Tags" box, but it is empty and read-only. Can anyone help me out? I have been looking online for 15 minutes now but can't find anything that will help out. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
  7. Hello everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle as you can see. It looks like missing textures if I'm not wrong, but I have no idea how to restore them. The last thing I did before this happened was remove STEP.
  8. Hello, after completing STEP installation guide (http://wiki.step-project.com/STEP:2.2.9.2) and starting a new game I encountered a big problem with tree LODs: Here's my load order Please don't mind DynDoLOD because at that moment I didn't generate LODs and Dyndolod wasn't active in game Also, as you see on screenshots, problem occurs for some specific trees, not for all of the. Others have this weird miltisampled texture on them. Here's my load order: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bz7uOe-Gn9fjUWV2QTNxUE5MclE/view?usp=sharing Here's my mod list: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bz7uOe-Gn9fjNkVRU0FWWjAyU0k/view?usp=sharing Here's my plugin list: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bz7uOe-Gn9fjekNDcFRfS0NlQlU/view?usp=sharing Here's my skyrim.ini: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bz7uOe-Gn9fjRmNzNzFESGF2RHc/view?usp=sharing Here's my skyrimprefs.ini: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bz7uOe-Gn9fjZktOeGdDZ2ZwdlE/view?usp=sharing Please help!
  9. Hi everyone. I'm about to finish my STEP 2.2.9.1 plus REGS 4.0.6 installation and so far everything looks pretty much stable. My Rig: i7 3930K @ Stock, GTX 680 Phantom 4GB @ Stock, 8GB DDR3 1333 @ Stock, Windows 10x64 & Skyrim on SSD Performance STEP with STEP Extended before REGS installation can be seen in the first graph (red/green) I've attached, in numbers: FPSmin 39, FPSmax 98, FPSavg 65, VRAMavg 2102 MB, GPUloadavg 86 %, GPUtempavg 65 °C, GPUpoweravg 111 W, CPUloadavg 18 %, RAMavg 298 MB, Pagefileavg 27 MB, SSDavg 10 MB/s Performance REGS (=current performance) with STEP Extended and REGS (a modular addon pack for STEP) can be seen in the second graph (yellow/blue), in numbers: FPSmin 37, FPSmax 100, FPSavg 65, VRAMavg 2090 MB, GPUloadavg 85%, GPUtempavg 63 °C, GPUpoweravg 109 W, CPUloadavg 17%, RAMavg 283 MB, Pagefileavg 28 MB, SSDavg 11 MB/s Performance unfriendly areas are currently: Cities due to JK's Major Cities, Villages due to Enhanced Cities and Towns Performance required: I have no problem with being as low as 25fps in average in cities. I also don't mind having tons of graphical upgrades for dungeons and the like as I got absurd framerates there. However, the game still needs to be playable in the wilds, this will be the biggest problem. I can live with smooth 30fps as long as I got no severe drops. This isn't a competitive online game so graphics go over maximum smoothness while fighting. I had to manually ensure compatibility of REGS as it was a bit outdated compared to STEP. Before starting to add further mods in addition to that I will go through every single STEP and REGS mod and look for patches and installation options I may have overlooked or I haven't had in mind regarding the mods yet to add. I regard this as a base setup I'd like to expand before starting my playthrough. What I like to add: Optics/Weather Vividian ENB Vivid Clouds and Fogs Vivid Snow Climates of Tamriel Expanded Snow Systems for CoT Supreme Storms for CoT RCRN anything important missing...? Environment Skyrim Bigger Trees Lite Verdant Grass anything important missing...? Gameplay PerMa + SkyRe modules OR SkyRe Perhaps a combat (Ultimate Combat?)/magic (Apocalypse Spell Package?) module/overhaul but if possible I'd like to go with the according SkyRe modules to ensure maximum stability/compatibility ASIS (probably not needed if using SkyRe modules?!) Alternate Start - Live another Life with addons like Legacy of the Dragonborn AutoSave Manager anything important missing...? Factions/NPCs/Encounters Civil War Overhaul (yes, I know, but I can live with having to use the console for a few times in exchange for that awesome experience) Immersive Patrols (or War Zones or whatever fits CWO best) OBIS (I can already smell heavy script overload) Perfect Legionnaire (caused naked NPCs and such in the past but I'm sure there's a solution) Immersive Creatures (I LOVE this and need to have it in) High Level Enemies Revenge of the Enemies Deadly Dragons Dovahkriid, Monster Mod, Strong Enemy Extreme (haven't used them before but they were recommended to me?!) Followers Extensive Follower Framework (still the best around?) All voiced (!) followers that fit the lore Player Homes All non overpowered player homes that are compatible with the mods above and don't increase instability, unfortunately I'm completely new to this area Armors, Weapons and Clothing A whole bunch of new lore friendly clothing that can be purchased and found at NPCs. cupboards and so on A whole bunch of new lore friendly armors that can be purchased and found at enemies, chests and so on A whole bunch of new lore friendly weapons that can be purchased and found at enemies, chests and so on Probably a tool to add all that stuff to leveled lists (Lootificator or whatever its called?!) Body/Physics UNP with HDT is what I would prefer but if there's something else realistic I'm open SexLab With a low priority. If it overloads scripts or decreases performance heavily its out. I've already had an immersive setup without all that over the top junk like most DD mods but as said, if everything else is running fine and I can add it safely its okay, if not then its out. Merging Mods I only tried this once and totally f***ed up but I will need to get rid of esps in order to achieve such a list! Now, if any of you is running a similar setup, I would love to get some advice on all or single areas of my dream setup. My last modlist was more basic and over a year old, so unfortunately I'm everything but up to date when it comes to Skyrim mods. Also, I see me having 20fps in average with the above so do you know what's the biggest performance hits? An ENB is MUST and I love Vividian and I know his weather mods aren't performance heavy. Probably more something like Bigger Trees or Verdant?! Thank you in advance!
  10. I did a brand new install for my new build (i7,GTX780,SSD etc) and followed the latest STEP instructions. Spent about 12 hours doing it. No CTDs, everything looks great (except some trees in the far distance look blocky, I'll work on that next), I also changed the load time for the papyrus as suggested to give it more time to load complex scripts as suggested. I have Realistic Needs and Diseases, Frostfall, Wet and Cold, Hunterborn and several other mods (that worked fine in my old build with MCM/SkyUI) but now the only mods showing in MCM are Lanterns, Complete Crafting and SkyUI. I have spent a few hours googling solutions and most of the threads on this subject just end with no real solution. I did the console reload command, nothing. I am currently trying to uninstall every mod that uses MCM, as I read that some have had success doing that, then adding them back one at a time, but I have no real easy way to find which mods use it as some of these are new to me. I am using ModManager (per STEP) and there is no listing in mods or plugins for Lanterns of Skyrim and thus I cannot uninstall it. I have a plugin for Complete Crafting Overhaul and I unchecked it, reloaded game, brand new, not a save and both Lanterns and CCO are still showing in MCM. This whole process is convoluted and way too complex for a game. If I ever get this game running perfectly I will upload my entire Skyrim folder to Dropbox so other people will not have to go through this mind numbing process. There is NO FILE SIZE LIMIT on Dropbox when using the desktop application. Why has someone not done this before? Just take a fully working 200 mod Skyrim folder and share it with people directly??
  11. Hi I have just changed pcs, and installed steam then skyrim on my new one. I had just started to look at mods, and for skyrim, but had not got very far. In other words I know very little, except to use Nexus as source of mod downloads? After an initial problem with playing skyrim on the new pc, I can see that I should learn some more. The mods I had installed have disappeared from the game but it hasn't affected where I had got to. However I don't want to run into problems. I think I need to follow the STEP projects guide, then other things like BOSS. Can I start where I am with my current game? Anything else I need to learn about? I see that other games are covered by these guides, I intend to play ESO when it arrives, will learning here help with the mods that will come for that?
  12. I have a problem. So far, on the nexus, nobody's a stranger to the infamous CTD. However, I've been very careful and I can safely say mine is likely not a load order issue. There's no CTD on startup, nor is there, according to Skyrim Performance Monitor, a 3.1gb limit breach. In fact, I never get over 1.78. But my issue is CTD upon opening inventory. I'm convinced it has something to do with loading cells, Climates of Tamriel, and SkyUI. What I don't know is if it's my system, a poor list of mods/mod order, something missing, or otherwise. I've verified the game integrity, cleaned the Masters, and then installed my mods one by one very carefully. So here's the more specific description of the problem. It happens when opening the Magic or Inventory Menu in certain areas. To name a few: *On the way to Bleak Falls Barrow, halway up the mountain just before the Bandit Watchtower. *The wheat fields outside Whiterun, approaching the Companions as they slay the Giant. *Approaching Falkreath for the first time, depending on the time of day. It happens more often than not, though, and sometimes when inside the town near the cemetary or the gates. *Occasionally in caves, but usually when discovering new locations. *In Markarth, at random times, throughout the city. Here's an example of the bug I get BEFORE the ctd happens, almost as a 'warning sign' : http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/Images/369396/? Again, these issues are mostly exacerbated by opening up the inventory or magic menu. And I'm pretty sure I don't need to tell anyone how immersion-breaking "well just don't open up your inventory" would be as a default solution. Lol. I'm sure there are more areas than that where there's the problem. But based on these locations, I'm of the opinion that these are loading zones where the game holds 2 or more different cells in memory. which can be taxing. But Skyrim Performance Monitor doesn't actually show that 3.1 gig limit ever getting hit. Or at least if it does, it spikes up faster than a record can be produced. Performance Monitor has me at an average of between 619MB and 900MB of memory. VRAM ranges from 287mb to 1710mb. CPU% ranges from 5-40%. GPU% ranges from 47%-87%, even in windowed mode. It gets quite hot too, from 38-90 degrees Farhenheit. There's a lot of lag in certain areas, which drives me crazy. I've had 2 different GPU's, so I can't say one is inherently better than the other. Both have had 6gb of VRAM. Currently, I'm running with 2 16gb RAM sticks, for a total of 32gb of RAM. PC is custom built. I have an NVIDIA GTX TITAN 6gb graphics card. Allegedly powerful. Noisy as hell though, and has no idea how to handle all of its own power lol. Theoretically, my system exceeds the requirements to run all of the mods I'm using plus ENB, let alone without them. The crash happens either way though. Has anyone ever heard of Climates of Tamriel being a problem with SkyUI? I've tested this very carefully by running the game without skse, and the issues never arose. I also used skse and uninstalled COT, and the problem was alleviated (but not totally removed. There was still lag, and an eventual CTD, just much later after a stress test in that area). I'm frustrated. There are plenty of people on the nexus, based on the endorsements that use both Climates of Tamriel and SkyUI, as well as the RealVision ENB mod to justify keeping it, and not abandoning it. I've got about 143 plugins installed, ranging from a few lands like Faalskar and Moonpath, SkyRE, Climates of Tamriel, Ehnanced Lights and FX, the RealVision ENB files that enhance those, and various mid-res texture packs. There are some mods I can live without. But the ENB I love so much (which by itself works fine and causes no bugs or CTD) depends on COT and Enhanced Lights and FX to function. And other people seem to have no problems when these are the mods they're using concurrently, separately, or otherwise. Please help, and thanks again guys! -Patman.
  13. Been running into a really weird texture glitch tonight... Am checking mods to see whats conflicting now and will edit the topic if I can find out which MODS are conflicting. Here is a screenshot of my issue: http://i.imgur.com/BQuGAYh.jpg I'm using Mod Organizer w/ WRYE Bash, TES5EDIT, and LOOT. These are all installed in my Skyrim directory Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\skyrim There is also a "Skyrim Mods" folder in the \common directory created by BASH These are the mods I'm using: http://wiki.step-project.com/STEP:2.2.9 I'm using STEP Core which includes all the mods with green beside them. (Includes Armors, Creatures, Dragonborn DLC, Unique Items, and Weapons.) EDIT: Creating a new save and finding the 3 Fighters killing the giant using "Steel" equipment. No dice. Looks exactly the same as the screenshot provided. Granted, I am loading the same saved game every time attempt to fix it. Also, whenever I do play Skyrim my VRAM is near maxed. I have to close chrome to get it to run without stuttering. Could it be that its not able to load any more textures? Although this issue does seem to be localized to "Steel" equipment. (As far as I've seen at least. Not far into game this time around to see other armors.) Any help is greatly appreciated! EDIT: AMidianBorn - Content Addon is the source of the issue. I've tried installing the AMidian Born Book of Silence mods multiple ways but to no avail... Still results in the messed up textures.
  14. Hey guys, At this point I only want to ask, if someone knows how the status of the project is. Are the authors still working on it? Because last state I know is 2.2.6. And this is present, like for months... I'm a bit confused because on the main page (http://wiki.step-project.com/STEP:2.2.6) stands, that it is on a biweekly release schedule. I'm quite excited to see the new design of the S.T.E.P. with the packages and stuff. It would be great if someone heard something about it or heard of someone, who heard of it. Merry gaming!
  15. Ok so I'm following the STEP guide and I get to overclocking...since I've never tried it before I thought I'd try to get advice from some of the smart peeps here on the Nexus who would be more experienced. I'm using a Nvidia 8400 GS card with 512 MB DDR2 RAM(A total of 3 Gigs roughly), with my GPU clock, Memory clock, and Shader Clock at 567 MHz, 266 MHz, and 1400 MHz at the default settings(P0 performance level) running at 68-71 degrees Celsius. The locked min-max are 142-1134, 67-1416, and 350-2800. I want to know what I could safely set these values to, and what I should change to get the best performance(while keeping temperature at a safe range). I've looked around for a while but I still can't find what I'm a good answer. STEP glances over overclocking, but also doesn't give me anything concrete to go on...
  16. what's up buddies i need your help i need to know if i want to make a new model/modification i need to make a 3D model first in program like 3DS max or blender etc?? or just open creation kit and make mod?? if i need to make 3D model first can you tell STEP BY STEP how to make it?? yea yea i know "google will help you try to make on youtube" blablabla...-.- write "how to make own armor to skyrim" and u will get results about only 3-2 videos... :/ i think it's to small to describe how to make armor/weapon etc.... so please help and i will be your debtor ^_^ PEACE
  17. new to modding skyrim. the ostensibly polished STEP mod system failed to list it's own dependencies (?!?) -- and after searching I found others were having trouble with them too, so I have spent some time ferreting them out with LOOT and google / nexus NOTE: you also need the unofficial patches, and Bring Out Your Dead (BOYD) to make this work weapons and armor fixes remade http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/34093/? smooth blade draw and sheathe for ADS (audio dynamic sneak) http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/1117/? audio overhaul for skyrim (AOS) this is a large installer that may incite you to set up your weather/lighting mods to go with it http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/43773/? diverse priests for the .esp http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/18180/? elemental staffs for the staves .esp (also there's an update to 1.10 as of this post) http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/15152/? amidianborn blah blah etc http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/34147/? consistent older ppl http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/19730/? realistic water two http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/41076/? and that should be it, maybe the STEP ppl can put these on their main page and save the next guy the hassle edit: this is for the core file, which also requires the unofficial patches I think, but those are easy to find edit2: apparently the 'consistent older ppl' dependency is a specific one starting with SPT, and this is no longer listed individually on nexus, but is bundled discretely with the version of consistent older ppl that is compatible with BOYD (bring out your dead). Guess how long it took me to figure this out? someone fix the STEP list, the installation process is user-hostile and I have only kept going out of sheer stubbornness. in fact if I don't find something vital in it I will likely throw it out and get rid of all these extraneous hidden dependencies. anyway this means that BOYD is also a dependency now. you can find it by searching bring out your dead on nexus.
  18. Edited -- Added loadorder, skyrim.ini, skyrimprefs.ini, and enblocal.ini I'm a Skyrim modder and have been modding TES games since Morrowind. I recently installed ENBoost and SSME to relieve CTD and infinite loading screen bugs... and they work perfectly. I've watched both both of Gopher's vids on these tools: I'm also using borderless window and allowing ENBoost to manage vsync. The only issue I'm having with my game is that loading screens can now take 30 seconds to a minute. I have most of the STEP mods installed and am using Mod Organizer to keep mods, well, organized. My rig is an i5 3570+, HD Radeon 7950, 8GB DDR3 -- so not a bad setup. Has anyone noticed any increase in loading screen time after installing ENBoost? I don't use an actual ENB, as the visuals really weren't for me. Plus, I try to keep my Skyrim directory as pristine as possible. On a side note, if anyone has an ENB they're recommend for ease of use / performance / visuals without pitch black nights, I'd love to hear them I was also wondering if SSME combined with ENBoost is a good idea. Could these two in conjunction be causing longer loading screens? Would love to hear feedback on how to reduce load screen time. Thanks, diznanl
  19. Cast your vote in the poll and talk about it. BTW: STEP is no longer supporting NMM. Mod Organizer is now the officially supported mod manager. I think MO is as revolutionary for Mods as Skyrim Memory Patch 3.0/SKSE 7.0/SSME is for stability! +1 for Mod Organizer!
  20. Is there any compilation? I've got not enough time to do it by myself.
  21. I'm getting many CTD, though it's kind of random... they can happend when I'm saving, looting, pressing ESC to get to the options menu, etc.. If someone with a better eye for what might be causing the problem can have a look, it would be much appreciated. EDIT: I'm cleaning the main Skyrim master files now. TES5Edit is our friend. 22. Hello! I come from the STEP <Skyrim Total Enhancement Project> forums. A couple months ago we did a detailed investigation into reports that Skyrim falls apart when it starts to use at or around 3.1 gigs of RAM, and what might contribute to that. After seeing some recent discussions on the Nexus forums, we figured that we hadn't adequately publicized those results, which are the following: Skyrim will crash at or around a reported 3.1 gigabytes of RAM usage, which is fairly widely known.Skyrim mirrors its active textures in memory, and since it is a 32-bit application with a 4GB memory limit, this constrains the total size of modded textures that are viably usable. The exact VRAM:RAM ratio is not known, but one metric reported was a texture pack taking up ~500MB VRAM would consume approximately 430MB physical RAM.The memory usage figures reported by Task Manager and Skyrim monitoring tools represents the "working set" RAM assigned to the Skyrim program. This is only a partial figure for the total amount of memory in use by Skyrim, and cannot be relied upon as an indicator of true memory usage, which cannot easily be determined. As the load of modded textures drives the memory use to the 4GB limit, the partial Working Set figure tends to report somewhere around 3.1GB, but this varies, and can only be used as a rough indicator. At this time, we have been unable to find any memory management solutions that can reliably mitigate this, and it is unlikely that any could be developed. When contacted, Bethesda indicated they had no intention of addressing the issue, which they described as a fundamental problem of 32-bit applications (though it is not necessarily clear if they were aware that we were inquiring about the mirroring issue rather than RAM overall). We present this information with the hope that modders/mod authors will keep these limitations in mind when using/creating mods, especially texture-heavy ones. Those mods that take up less space will likely get more exposure, given that most modders will be using a heavily-modded game. Without Skyrim's source code it is almost certain that neither the 3.1 gigabyte stability issue nor the RAM mirroring issues will ever be fixed.
  23. Every time I travel by horse, which means a lot,I get terribly upset hearing those 10 year old crappy sounds (even with the popular Improved horse step sounds, which is only a small improvement imo). It just makes the game sound horribly old, especially if you've played RDR 2 or Bannerlord. I would love if someone could replace these unimmersive and very poor quality horse step sounds into more realistic ones, that feel "heavier". I'm amazed, with the vast qty of mods out there, that no one tackled this issue. Pleeeaaase! Anyone?
  24. i think its time to reinstall skyrim again, were there any new guides similar to STEP?
  25. Yesterday I did a completely fresh install of Morrowind and went through the STEP BasicMW guide. Everything's working great as far as I can tell, but Vivec doesn't seem to be rendering properly. Specifically, the cantons are fading out much too early, while the banners, waterfalls, and some statues aren't. The effect is kind of irritating. I followed all the directions possible except for Westly's Pluginless Head and Hair Replacer; Fliggerty's downloads aren't working so I used a (presumably older) version I found on ModDB. I don't think that would cause the problem I'm having though. As best I can tell, the issue is that Vivec isn't rendering as far forward as it should be: I finally found a video of Vivec using MGE XE and you could see across three cantons while on mine you can barely see over one from the same position. Also, this might be unrelated, but you can see that some of the houses in Ebonheart appear to be floating a bit. I've been screwing around with the Distant Land settings since then but no luck. I haven't managed to find anyone through google with this exact problem, which is unusual for a Bethesda game. I've used both the most recent version of MGE as well as 9.10, as I heard 9.10 was more consistent at distant land stuff than the recent versions. Also I'm using Mod Organizer if that changes anything. My load order is: Morrowind.esm Bloodmoon.esm Tribunal.esm Patch for Purists.esm XE Sky Variations.esp A_Strange_Plant.esp Creeper and Mudcrab Merchant Balance.esp DB_Attack_Mod.esp Diseases Restored.esp entertainers.esp [DEACTIVATED] bcsounds.esp [DEACTIVATED] AreaEffectArrows.esp [DEACTIVATED] EBQ_Artifact.esp [DEACTIVATED] master_index.esp [DEACTIVATED] LeFemmArmor.esp [DEACTIVATED] adamantiumarmor.esp [DEACTIVATED] Siege at Firemoth.esp [DEACTIVATED] Holidays Across Tamriel - Vvardenfell.esp Holidays Across Tamriel - Vvardenfell.esp (I just now realized these two are in direct conflict, I'll disable one and see if that helps.) Clean_Mines & Caverns [Official]Adamantium Armor.esp [Official]Area Effect Arrows.esp [Official]Bitter Coast Sounds.esp [Official]Entertainers.esp (These are patches to the official plugins, hence why the originals are disabled.) [Official]Helm of Tohan.esp [Official]LeFemm Armor.esp [Official]Master Index.esp [Official]Siege at Firemoth.esp MovementFatigueHalved.esp Ozzy's Grass - Merged.esp [DEACTIVATED] Purist-friendly magicka regen.esp The Publicans.esp Yet Another Guard Diversity.espHopefully it's just an issue with the MGE settings. I'll start changing up the mods to see if that helps. UPDATE: Switching the mods around did nothing, the problem's still there on my vanilla profile. Even after regenerating distant lands. I've also noticed some more things: I checked out Ebonheart to see if it has the same problem and it does. The tops of the towers are visible but the bases of the towers only appear at the same distance that they do in vanilla Morrowind. The banners and whatnot appear very clearly in reflections, the buildings don't. Even the ones that are visible. The buildings in Vivec don't cast shadows. The banners do.So as far as I can tell the issue seems to be that some objects aren't being effected by MGE XE while others are. So the cantons in Vivec act like they do in vanilla Morrowind while the banners and smaller objects act as they should with MGE XE. Additionally, the setting for how many cells show up in Distant Lands doesn't seem to change anything with regards to Vivec.
