Cardiology Update

Today was our Cardiology appointment. It was quite an eventful visit. Peyton did awesome for his EKG and his measurements. Then it came time for the ECHO. They decided to do the full ECHO instead of the limited one. I brought the M&M's to bribe him but he cried and did not want to have it done. He picked Toy Story to watch and the tech had to get suckers for him. He whined through a lot of it but luckily Montana was there to hold his hand and comfort him. It took about 45 minutes by the time we were done. Tanner was fussy and Mason was upset because he wasn't allowed to have a lot of Peyton's M&M's. Then we went to talk with Dr. Etheridge. And to get the tentative PLAN! We were anticipating surgery this spring. And after today, we are know looking at a Heart Cath the beginning to middle of February with surgery following the end of February/beginning of March. He also will need to have a swallow study done in January to try to figure out his swallowing (or lack thereof). After he has the Fontan, he will most likely be fine for quite a few years. Eventually he will probably need a pacemaker inserted but hopefully that won't be for awhile. It could possibly be after surgery but they are not thinking that. There is really no leaking of his valves which is in his favor! He is definitely turning more blue with his sats in the high 70's right now. I kinda anticipated this being the direction we would take before we got to the appointment. The estimated time in the hospital following the Fontan should be about 7-10 days...but I'm planning on more since Peyton usually has his own schedule. That's pretty much it for now and we just get to keep loving on him!

Funny Story

Yesterday I went to pick Mason up from school. I was checking his backpack and his teacher came up to me. She said that she wanted to tell me a funny story if she saw me. The teacher was teaching the children about a new pattern and the following conversation happened:

Mrs. Unufe (talking to the entire class) - Come on, the pattern's not that hard.
Mason - Yep, it's not rocket science.
Mrs. Unufe - Mason, what's rocket science?
Mason - I don't know but it's not rocket science.

Enjoy! And hopefully I will get pictures up soon from our latest adventures!

What We've Been Up To...

I just realized that my camera has so many pictures on it so this is pretty much a picture post! Enjoy!

Mason received an award at school for academic achievement. He got two coupons with his award...one for a drink at Sonic and one for a free hamburger from Burger King! We are so proud of him!

Two days before Halloween, Mason's school let the kids dress up and than they did a parade. We even dyed his hair for the school dress up day!

Ashley ran in the Halloween Half Marathon down Provo Canyon on the 30th of October. Here's a picture of her crossing the finish line! She ran it in 2 hours and 9 minutes!

All of the boys have worn the pumpkin costume so we had to at least put it on Tanner. It was a little tight but we had to get a picture.
Image

Peyton went to the dentist for the first time. He was so excited to sit in the chair and have Dr. Dave count his teeth!
Image

Here's just a fun picture of Tanner. We tried the mohawk thing since his hair is getting pretty long.
Image

And as I finish this, I realized that I never took a picture of Tanner in his Bumblebee costume. Looks like I'll have to pull it out one more time and take a picture. (Is he the third child or what?!?)

I Love FREE Stuff!

So, I just have to post and say that Monday we picked up 76 12x12 tiles for our bathroom for FREE! It just made my day. Now we can do a little bit more with our bathroom...when Montana has some FREE time!

Also, I took Tanner in for his hearing test on Monday...and he PASSED in both ears. They said he is good unless we start to notice anything. And of course, he started to pay attention to my voice in the last couple of days! So, all is well with us!

6 Month Check-up

Tanner is now 6 months old! I can't believe how fast time has flown by! Here are his stats:

Weight: 14.33 lbs (2.71%)
Length: 26.2 in (32.13%)
Head: 16.5 in (~7%)

He is my little small fry. The percentage on his length continues to climb but his weight is staying about the same percentage. His communication is a little lower so we are having his hearing checked again to make sure he is hearing all the frequencies and sounds. He doesn't really follow my voice so we are just being cautious. Also cause my sister-in-law wears hearing aids. And we would rather be safe than sorry. So, he has that appointment on Monday and then I'll let you all know! He got four shots today and one oral immunization. He was NOT happy about those. It took a little bit to calm him down. Mason and Peyton both got their flu shots today and did very well...it helps when it's the flu mist that gets shot up their noses. Anyway, enjoy this shot that Mason took of Tanner last night!

Image

And Montana officially finished softball season last night! He played three games in a row (won 2, lost 1) while we sat on the bench, freezing!

One final picture...Peyton climbed onto the counter to get a new sippy cup for his Pediasure and this is how I found him.

(I got after him first and then told him to stay put so that I could grab the camera.)

Cornbelly's at Thanksgiving Point

When we went to the Heart Walk in September, we won tickets to Cornbelly's at Thanksgiving Point! Montana was so excited that we actually won something. So, for family night last night, we decided to use our tickets. We have never been to Cornbelly's cause it's the most expensive one around here and we have to drive to Lehi to go. We had such a good time except that we couldn't go into the huge cornmaze because you can't take strollers in it. People have ruined the mazes in years past and now they don't allow them. I didn't know this before hand so we had no way to carry our stuff and the kids. So, we just did the kiddie maze which was fun but not as big!

Sitting in the GINORMOUS rocking chair! (It would make a cute Christmas card picture if Tanner would have been looking!)

Our pumpkins and corn stalks in front of our house. Mason's pumpkins are the bigger orange one and the white one. Peyton's is the little orange one. They picked them out themselves.

Mason got to go on his 1st field trip last week. They went to PumpkinLand in Orem. He had so much fun! Too bad I couldn't go and take pictures...maybe next time. They went through a corn maze and they even got to pick out a pumpkin at the end. Mason's pumpkin got dropped by a little boy in our ward and it split the bottom of the pumpkin. Montana took the blame and we let Mason get another pumpkin when we were at Cornbelly's.

We are working (not very hard) on getting Peyton potty trained. He pretty much understands the whole pooping in the potty thing. When he has to go, he always runs over to me and tells me he has to go in the big potty. Whenever he is waiting for me to put the little seat on the big potty I always say, "Peyton, don't go" so that he waits until he is sitting down. So, the other day, I took him into the bathroom and while he was waiting for me, he said, "Peyton, don't go". It was so cute!!! I just hope that he can figure out the rest soon so I can stop buying him diapers!

One last thing...we went to the HopeKids movie for the month. We saw "Legends of the Guardians". It's the one about the owls. It was really good but a little scary for the kids. Mason didn't hardly touch his popcorn. Peyton kept leaning into me and saying he was scared and then he ended up wandering on our row for about half the movie. By the time we got home that day the boys were exhausted so we made a "bed" in the family room and turned on another movie.

Oh, and here are some pictures of the cousins...it's impossible to get a good one!
