i will run for nothing

Posted in Uncategorized on November 15, 2011 by Jonel C Mendoza

away from the hustle and bustle of nycm, in the hills of hart’s park, bakersfield, california, i did my first-ever foreign ultra. never have i enjoyed doing trails so much and in such a way i could only
dream of. i like the simplicity, the silence and peace away from the crowds and mad
drivers, especially as i struggle in my lonesome.this is what i have been looking for. walang kaartehan at walang inaasam kundi ang makasali, makatakbo at makatapos ng maayos. all that marked our way were orange ribbons and white paint on the ground. one look away and you get lost at your own risk. no marshalls, nothing to guide you except your senses.

how i wish our fellow runners would “grow” more in terms of appreciating running as it is and look beyond singlets, freebies, loots and for that matter learn to embrace the rules of the game to the letter without question and be honest even when no one is looking. always remember the reason why you joined and not what you are getting in return. the satisfaction of finishing is all that is there is to running. oh well, wishful thinking but i hope only for the best for the people of my kind.

sounding apologetic, rd andy noise said all he had was a water canteen as finisher’s reward. no problem, my friend.I WILL DO THIS FOR NOTHING, anytime. thank you for the memories.
