Inclusion is our core value.

Inclusive communities encourage acceptance. But creating societal change is no small feat and as families, we are at the forefront of this movement. When families believe in the importance of and advocate for inclusion, the world around us will begin to believe it, too.

Disability and Employment Through a Human Rights Lens

In 2006, the United Nations adopted the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). It recognized that although existing human rights are supposed to protect all persons, people with disabilities were being excluded. The CRPD states clear guidelines on what it means to be inclusive – including in the open labour market.

In 2010, Canada ratified the convention, thus making it a legally-bound document in all provinces and territories.

Our Free, Online Courses for Families

As part of our goal to help more families become critical thinkers around employment, we have created these free, online courses. When more families have the tools to advocate for employment outcomes for their family member with a disability, the demand for valuable support and opportunities will increase. We believe this is an important step towards creating change.
