boo ;)

More to come, don't move that dial!

Ugh... things must be pretty tough for the Nigerian scammers - they're
moving from spamming out via postal and electronic mail to now using
Instant Messenger.

I'm posting the log from the conversation but basically I got an IM on
Yahoo from someone asking me if I had been paid yet. I asked for what
and he said inheritance.

I think the saddest part of the whole deal was the fact that this was
a human being on the other end!

Here's the log:
ny5i (5:37:10 AM): Paid for what?
kolawole_chambers (5:37:41 AM): the sum of $10.5 million us dollars
ny5i (5:38:19 AM): for?
kolawole_chambers (5:38:53 AM): the inheritance
kolawole_chambers (5:39:12 AM): call the bank manager,Mr.Tony Elumelu
+234-8023168583
kolawole_chambers (5:40:38 AM): call him now without any delay sir

I'm also sending this to Yahoo... quite sad, really.

Okay, without any question I have to say that GMail (Google's new beta email client) is absolutely killer for handling the traffic that I get from all of my various unsundry email lists.  They have finally come up with a web based email client that I like and can use!

What does HMail (HotMail) do in response?  Up their storange and promise more features - kinda like a bad used car dealer trying to compete!

I think Illiad said it best in today's edition of UserFriendly:

It was everything it promised ot be and more!  No energy right now to post more than a quick WOW!

Well, today is my 6th wedding anniversary and this morning I got what has to be one of the more interesting gifts...

Our family is going to be adding a member in about January or February of next year!  It hasn't been "officially" tested (as in by a Dr's office) but she took two home tests and they both showed two lines.

Guess it's a good thing that I've just started paying for medical insurance again, looks like it's going to end up paying for itself sooner than I expected!

Well, just got back from the "local" (okay, it's an hour's drive, that's the closest one) Macromedia User's Group meeting for the 2nd Annual "WorldWide MMUG Meeting"

Pretty neat setup, they have a broadcast via Breeze and all of the MMUG's that want to participate in the chat.  We were one of 80 MMUG's online tonight.  There are some COOL things coming for ColdFusion (which I use) as well as Flash, Contribute and FlashPaper!  Wish I could say more but I can't :)

Oh, and the other cool thing - I was told that if I wanted to do any presentations to the group I could do so without any problem.

I have a rather weird thing that I do - I tend to overreact for some things and under react for others.  I'm beginning to wonder if this is what some people call "insensitivity".  I don't think that it's a problem but it has been brought to my attention that I need to, "work on my excited reactions."  Here's two examples:

First one - My wife announces to me that for my birthday and our anniversary we are going to go to the Toronto Zoo, stay overnight at a B&B and then go to the Royal Ontario Museum.  Two catches - first is that we're not going until June 7... it's the 16th of May and she's telling me about it.  Second, I'll admit that I'm rather spoiled when it comes to my birthday and the fact that the trip is for both birthday and anniversary is a little bit of a let-down to me.  I reply, rather sedately but still completely honestly that it sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun and that I think I'll enjoy it.  I see no need to get completely bubbling with joy over it, we're going to a zoo, a B&B and a museum in Toronto.

Second example - I come home tonight from my Amateur Radio club meeting and my mother-in-law is still at the house.  As I'm getting out of the car I notice something in the front yard and go investigate.  For some reason there are now two reflectors (the white plastic poles with the red round reflector head) at the end of my driveway and one leaning against a telephone pole.  I go inside and am asked, "did you see what's in the front yard?"  I said, "yeah, there are reflectors out there."  "So what do you think?"  I reply, "they're reflectors... they're nice.  What the hell else am I supposed to say??  It's 10:35 at night, I'm tired and have to be up and working at 6am the next day, I don't feel the need to get all gushy about a trio of plastic reflectors.

In the first example, I spent the rest of the day explaining to my wife that I was really thrilled about the idea of the trip and am looking forward to it.  I am... it's just that I didn't expect something like that for my birthday.  In the case of the second, my wife told me that I had hurt her mother's feelings about the reflectors, that she had stayed until I got home just so she could see my reaction.  I thought, 'my reaction... they're friggin pieces of plastic, what's she want, mother of the year award or some damn thing???'

Maybe my meds aren't working again, guess I need to call the doctor for an appointment anyway.

Well, some people share birthdays with their children, others share them with momentous occasions...

I get to share mine with the day that Gay Marriages became legal in Massechussets.

<churchlady voice>Well now isn't that special!</churchlady voice>

Heck, 30 doesn't feel so bad after all... not that I can really tell a difference at least.
