In 2026, COP31 will be jointly hosted by Australia and Türkiye, introducing a unique split presidency presidency model for the UN Climate Conference. Negotiations will be held in Antalya, with Australia presiding over negotiations. This edition is expected to place a strong emphasis on the Pacific, drawing attention to the climate vulnerabilities faced by Small Island Developing States and the urgent need to strengthen financing flows to the region. By elevating Pacific focused climate diplomacy and broadening developing country country representation, COP31 aims to advance a more inclusive and resilient global climate agenda.
