Oooohaaaaah.... shiny! You probably have an incredibly stable and well-maintained group of friends... that probably also don't get out much either. You're not one to get bogged down by a problem. Of course, I'm basing this upon Chromium's ultra-low water-exchange constant and its corrosion-resistant properties, and I wouldn't be too surprised if the analogy doesn't even apply.
My test tracked 4 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender:
While having a discussion in the pub about the phonetic alphabet (alpha-bravo-charlie-delta-echo-etc...), as you do, we got the idea of creating an anti-phonetic alphabet containing words that start with the letter but don't sound like they do. Examples are 'knife' for k or 'gnat' for g.
Here's the ones we got so far
a - aeon c - champagne g - gnat/gnome h - human j - jalapeno k - knife l - llewellyn p - pneumatic/physics q - qatar s - sherry w - whole x - xylophone y - yvonne
Anyone have any other suggestions? Pretty pointless I know, but most pub conversations are like that :).
Just thought I'd let people know, although it might not come as a complete surprise :).
I've started drawing again. I'm attempting to read this to help me along. I've been told it's quite good. One of the first exercises is to draw a self-portrait, a drawing of someone from memory and your own hand. I've done the first and did the last about a year ago. I tried the second, without much success. For some reason all I draw now ends up looking like manga (not necessarily bad, but annoying if you're going for realism). Aw, well...
I've also joined a gym. I'm hoping it'll strengthen my chest a bit more so I can breathe easier. I don't know if this actually works, but we'll see. It can't really harm much to get some exercise (except for it costing money, but that's life for you...).
I haven't updated in a while, mostly as my life's not been very interesting...
We got our new TV yesterday, which is now taking up half (okay, slight exaggeration) of our living room. I'm not entirely sure yet what we'll do with our old TV as it's a bit dodgy. I think the channel buttons need looking at as it will change channels in mid-air. Still, we may wish to keep it in the bedroom.
I celebrated yesterday by watching the Generator Gawl DVD that I'd bought ages ago and hadn't watched before. It looks quite good, the drawing style seems to be akin to NG Evangelion, but the characters are more mature. Add to this a very obvious shounen ai set-up and you may agree with me that it's worth watching :).
We watched the best british sitcom on BBC 2 last night as well. More a case of sitting through than watching, actually as it dragged on and on. There's only so many times that you can hear Jonathan Ross make bad jokes and hear David Dickinson say that Del Boy is such a lovable cheeky chappy (*gag*). They should've just had it over with in the first hour and then show episodes of the first three, I think it would've had more people watching.
I purchased two new albums today. First of all Room on Fire by The Strokes. I mainly bought this because Reptilia kept is one of the worst earworms I've encountered and I wanted to be able to play it at will. It's rather messy rock music with loads of nice guitar riffs, although it does seem the kind of music that I need to hear a few times before I actually like it.
The other album that I bought is Franz Ferdinand by Franz Ferdinand. I think their music is best described as camp rock. I knew a few of their songs, specifically Darts of Pleasure and Michael (which can only be described as homo-erotic). It is made more bizarre by the singer having a slight German accent (he grew up in Germany), although it fits quite well.
I'm feeling a bit wheezy today, I think it may be the cold trying to hit my lungs as they usually do. Hopefully an early night tonight and not too much stress over the next few days will help.
I haven't posted in a while, mainly as life has been rather boring. I've been ill at home today as I've got a bad cold. Luckily it's not hit my lungs this time, but it does make me feel tired/headachy/nauseous. I'm feeling a lot better tonight than this morning though.
I've recently discovered BBC 6 music, which actually occasionally plays music that i like. I find most of the stuff played on Radio 1 is rubbish with only the odd song being a bit better and although there are songs on there that I don't like, most of it is okay.
Anyway, I'm going to do some random web surfing again.
