About GForge

All-in-One DevOps & Project Management Platform

Our Mission.

At GForge, we believe software teams work best when their tools work together.

Our mission is simple: help teams plan, build, and deliver with clarity—without disconnected systems, integrations and fees.

We created GForge to unify DevOps and project management—so teams can focus on shipping better software, no stitching tools together.

What We Do

GForge is an all-in-one DevOps and project management platform that brings your team’s entire workflow into one secure environment. Out of the box, GForge includes:

  • Project Management: Agile boards, issue tracking, milestones, and reporting.
  • Source Code Management: Built-in Git and Subversion repositories.
  • Code Review & CI/CD: Streamlined collaboration and continuous integration.
  • Wiki & Document Management: Team knowledge sharing in one place.
  • Team Chat & Notifications: Real-time communication tied directly to your projects.

GForge helps you reduce tool sprawl—and the integration tax that comes with it—without sacrificing capability or control.

Why We’re Different

Most “DevOps platforms” promise integration. We deliver integration by design—and the human support to make it work.

  • Effortless Onboarding: Every new customer gets guided setup, free training sessions, and access to ready-made project templates. You’ll be up and running fast, with confidence that your team is using GForge effectively from day one.
  • Personal Consultation: Our onboarding includes a dedicated consultation to understand your workflow and tailor GForge to your team’s unique needs.
  • Agile Partnership: We’re a small, nimble team—so when customers ask for new features or enhancements, we listen. Many of our most popular features began as customer suggestions.
  • One Platform for Everything: Planning, code, collaboration, and documentation—all in one place, built to eliminate fragile integrations.
  • Deploy It Your Way: Run it in the cloud, on-premises, or in your private cloud—your data, your rules.
  • Save Money and Gain Clarity: Reduce tool sprawl, simplify workflows, and get a clearer view of every project.

Our Story

GForge has been around longer than most of today’s DevOps platforms — and that’s no accident.

We started as a fork of SourceForge, back when it was the home for open-source innovation. While the industry raced toward flashy new tools and buzzword-driven platforms, we kept doing what we’ve always done best: helping real teams build real software.

Over the years, we’ve adapted to every shift in technology—from on-prem servers to the cloud, from agile boards to continuous delivery. Longevity taught us something most vendors never learn: tools come and go, but trust, reliability, and service never go out of style.

We’re proud to be the opposite of our “big and distant” competitors. Working with GForge feels more like doing business in a small town—where people know your name, take your call, and genuinely care about your success. Our customers don’t need to open tickets just to get answers; they reach out directly to the people building the product.

In a world full of faceless platforms, we’ve built something different—a tool made by humans, for humans, with the kind of service you don’t get from billion-dollar software giants.

Who We Serve

  • Software development teams that need a unified DevOps workflow.
  • Enterprises that demand compliance, scalability, and cost control.
  • Government and defense organizations that require on-premise solutions.
  • PMOs and IT leaders looking for visibility across large project portfolios.

Wherever software is built, GForge keeps teams aligned.

Deployment Options

Most “DevOps platforms” promise integration. We deliver integration by design—and the human support to make it work.

  • GForge Next (SaaS): Fully managed, always up to date, hosted by us. Ideal for teams that want to focus on development, not infrastructure.
  • GForge Enterprise (On-Premise): Installed in your own environment, behind your firewall, with complete control over data, updates, and integrations.
  • Private Cloud Deployment:Want to host GForge in your own cloud environment? We’ll deploy and manage your dedicated instance in AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or the platform of your choice. Your organization controls the infrastructure, while we handle all GForge upgrades, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
No matter how you deploy, you get the same robust features, proactive support, and commitment to security, performance, and reliability.

The People Behind GForge

GForge is led by a small, experienced team who’ve spent decades building collaboration tools for developers.

President, Owner, The GForge Group

Tony Bibbs is the Owner and President of GForge, a veteran software platform born from open-source innovation and refined over more than two decades of real-world experience helping teams deliver better software.

  • Open-source leadership: Led the Geeklog CMS community (late 1990s–2009), mentored students through Google Summer of Code, and contributed to projects that informed GForge’s DNA.
  • Public-sector impact: At the State of Iowa, helped modernize critical systems (payments, authN/Z, sex-offender registry, disaster response), introducing PHP/MySQL/Linux and a culture of open-source contribution.
  • Deep engineering roots: Early career at Rockwell International programming embedded software for PLGR-II GPS receivers; later broadened into architecture, product management, and go-to-market.
  • Team builder: Scaled volunteer open-source teams and led paid, cross-functional product groups—aligning engineers, design, and DevOps around outcomes, not just output.
  • Customer-driven product: Many hallmark GForge features began as customer suggestions; the product ships cloud, on-prem, and private-cloud to meet security and compliance needs.
  • Global footprint: Serves customers in multiple countries with an international team that provides guided onboarding, training, and responsive support.
More About Tony

Tony’s path to GForge ran through consulting (Norstan), product and community work (Geeklog), entrepreneurship (Apteno L.C.; Iowa Outdoors—grown to 1M+ monthly page views and later acquired), and public service (State of Iowa—architecture, payments, identity, and emergency response systems). At Rockwell International he built real-time, embedded code for PLGR-II GPS units, including internationalization and ISO-aligned practices.

Since acquiring and leading GForge, Tony has focused on integration by design: one platform for planning, code, reviews, CI, docs, and artifacts—without brittle glue code. He pairs this with human support: guided setup, training, and workflow tailoring. He continues to advocate for practical DevOps, open-source governance, and sustainable delivery for enterprises, governments, and startups.

Tony holds a B.A. from the University of Northern Iowa and lives in the Des Moines Metro. Speaking topics include practical DevOps, open-source program leadership, change management in public-sector IT, and product strategy for lean teams.
