For 20 years now, The Gift of Giving Back has been inspiring youth to step up, give back, and make a difference. What started with a little red wagon and a dream has grown into one of Canada’s largest community food drives. Together with schools, sports teams, community groups, and generous donors, we’ve collected millions of pounds of food for local agencies, helping families right here at home.

This week is #NonprofitAppreciationWeek, a time to recognize the organizations and people who show up for our communities every single day ❤️
We’d like to acknowledge our incredible partners and beneficiaries we work alongside...these are organizations that are working hard to support our community 365 days a year. The Gift of Giving Back is proud to stand with organizations in Halton that are filled with dedicated, compassionate, and hard-working teams.
Across Halton, nonprofits are supporting people at every stage of life, from ensuring families have access to food and safe housing, to strengthening mental health supports, protecting our environment, mentoring youth, expanding access to opportunity, and so much more.
Much of this work happens quietly, but its impact shapes our community every single day.
To every nonprofit, volunteer, and staff member working behind the scenes and on the front lines, thank you. Our community is stronger because of you.

Valentine’s Day is about showing care, and in our community, care often looks like volunteers packing food, youth leading drives, and neighbours helping neighbours.
If The Gift of Giving Back made candy hearts, they might say things like “Give Back,” “Youth Lead,” and “Community Cares,” because compassion in action is what brings people together.
Together, small acts of kindness add up to real impact for families in our community.
Happy Valentine’s Day from all of us at The Gift of Giving Back.

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”
— Margaret Mead
Every day, we see this truth in action through our youth volunteers, families, schools, teams, and community partners who step up to lead food drives and support their neighbours.
To every volunteer who gives their time, energy, and heart, thank you. You are the reason this work continues.

For over a decade, Bryan and Melissa Uba have been part of The Gift of Giving Back family.
Inspired by their daughters’ involvement, they have shown what it means to lead by example. From donating Leafs tickets to encourage participation, to volunteering year after year, their commitment is always inspiring.
As Bryan taught his own daughters, "When you earn your own money, you save some, spend some, and make sure you give some back. Whether through money or time. Giving back is how we shape the leaders of tomorrow."
To Bryan and Melissa, thank you for your generosity and for believing in the power of youth-led change.
