Denver

ImageWe went to Denver a couple weeks ago so Sam could interview at a company there. The dental office would actually be in Fort Collins which is about an hour north of Denver. We don't know a lot of details yet but we are planning to leave here in the next couple weeks! Crazy!ImageMy sister, Cami and fam were there for the Summer while Juan did an internship. It was fun to be able to hang out with them for the week. Amelia is so adorable and I hadn't seen her since she was 1 month old and Sam hadn't seen her at all. We played lots of card games, Mario Party and Mario Kart and just did lots of hanging out. We didn't do much touring since we are probably moving out there soon but we did hit a couple must sees.ImageImageHere is a huge 2 story chair with a horse on top of it. We have no idea what the story is behind it but it was definitely picture worthy.ImageWe also drove past the very first Chipotle restaurant ever! It started back in 1993. Colorado is definitely the place for us now knowing that Chipotle started there.Image

Polo

ImageImageImageWe went to our first Polo match in Newport, Rhode Island a couple weekends ago with some friends. The only exposure I have had to Polo up to this point was from Pretty Woman. I just assumed it was for rich people to wear big hats and have an excuse to drink tons of wine. I was definitely right about the drinking tons of wine part (for other people, not for us). It was a lot of fun to bring our little picnics and cheer on the USA team against Scotland. We lost but put up a good fight. I think we did a lot more socializing than watching the match.ImageDuring "half-time" (or whatever they call it), we were able to go out on the field for the "divot stomp" where we put all the grass clumps back into the ground so the field looked nice and fresh again.ImageThese next pictures are my fav. It gave me the chance to use a fun setting on our new camera from Sam's mom. It has a setting on it where you can take multiple pictures in seconds. We love this feature. At the end of the game it is tradition for the players to ride by on their horse to give all the spectators a high five. Let's just say Sam was super excited about this.

Sam's Graduation

ImageA couple weeks ago Sam graduated from dental school. Yahoo!! He still has some requirements to finish up and is planning on being done at the end of the summer then it is off to who knows where. I am so proud of Sam and all he has accomplished so far. The whole time I have known Sam, he has always been in school so I can't wait until he is finally done!! It will be so weird with him going to a job instead of school. It was so nice for Sam's dad and step-mom and my mom and dad to come out for the special occasion. My sister & brother in law (Kelly & Kevin) were able to come to the graduation also. Sam refused to walk when he graduated at BYU so it was fun to see him at this graduation. It was also very nice not to have a ton of people graduating. There were about 200-250 graduates so it lasted about 2 1/2 hours, not too bad. Sam and I were talking about it last night and it really just doesn't seem real yet. Even the graduation is kind of a blur to both of us. I just remember when they called Sam's name before he got his diploma and called him Doctor, my eyes swelled up with tears. It was the first time I had really heard someone call him that. It is just so nice to see that his hard work is paying off.

Me, Sam and my mom & dadImageThis is my favorite pic so I had to add it in. I love how huge the diploma is, who knows why. I guess they didn't want to be same as the undergraduate's diplomas. I just love it.

As for where we are going next, we are not sure about that yet. We are pretty open to where ever there is a good opportunity for us. It may be a little easier to interview out East so we may end up staying out here for a few more years. That would be so much fun for us to be able to travel around a bit more. We have really liked it out here and the area we live in now so we would love to stay out here longer.

Life is Burritoful!

Okay so I don't have to explain our Chipotle obsession since most everyone knows and we are not ashamed. There have been many Chipotles sprouting up around Boston and we can't resist going to the openings. In the last 6 months we have gone to a few openings. They don't do the free burritos anymore but if you are within the first 100 people after 3 pm then you can get a free t-shirt and a free burrito card for a future visit. We have done this twice and did attempt to go this last Friday to another opening but we couldn't get there until 6 so we missed out on the free stuff. How dare Sam's school get in our way of being there at 3! What does he think is more important? We are now the proud owners of 4 free Chipotle shirts which Sam proudly wears. He is hoping to get one for every day of the week.Image

Quick Trip & Peg Bear

I took a quick trip to Utah this last week. My little sis, Cami just had her first little baby and I just couldn't stay away too long. I had to see her! Her name is Amelia Rose and she is absolutely adorable. It is so fun to see and hang out with them. I already want to go back to hold her again.ImageImageI have been wanting to start sewing again and after seeing this little bear on my friend, Laurie's blog, I just had to make it. I knew it would be a fun present to make for little Amelia. I am happy about how it turned out and excited to sew other things and maybe even a couple more of these peg bears. ImageI am sure Amelia just has to warm up to the bear a little more and she will love it.Image

Martha's Vineyard

ImageGinger watched her sister's kids a couple of weekends and so her sister and brother-in-law were really generous and paid for a night at Martha's Vineyard for us a few weeks back. This was the view from the ferry as we went out to the island.
ImageThis was at Sharkey's Cantina, a nice little Mexican restaurant. Ginger wanted me to show this picture so that you could get an idea of how big the nacho's were, I wanted to show this picture so that you could get an idea of how goofy I look when I'm eating, win-win.
ImageThe next day we drove around the island and this was at the tip of Gayhead.
Image There are something like 180 of these little houses with different bright colors all in one little village area that they call the gingerbread cottages . They were about the only thing unusual enough to visit, plus we really loved our previous pose so we thought we'd get as much mileage out of it as possible.

Cupcake Tins

ImageI know this is a dumb thing to complain about but I am going to anyway. I just hate washing cupcake tins! You have to put the brush in each one of the compartments and make sure each one is completely clean. It is just a pain. I made cupcakes last week for Groundhog's Day and I have gone through a few loads of dishes since then and have even washed some other items by hand but I just can't get myself to wash the cupcake tins. I just set them aside nicely on the counter. There I said it, now I feel a lot better. Now I think I am going to finally wash those tins or throw them away (just kidding, I would never do that now. I only did that in college).

****UPDATE (about 2 hours later)****

Sam is washing them as I type. Oh he is so wonderful! Hooray for no more dirty cupcake tins in the sink!!

I love Sunbeams!

I just was called as a Sunbeam teacher in my ward. I absolutely love it. They are just so sweet. It is so nice to be able to spend some time with these sweet little kids. Sam and I haven't been able to have children of our own yet so this is the perfect medicine that I get a little dose of every week.

One of the many reason I love the Sunbeams happened last week in class. The lesson was on prayer. We talked about Daniel in the Lion's Den. This was part of the discussion.

Me: Do you think the lions hurt Daniel after he prayed to Heavenly Father in the Lions Den?

Jonathan: Mario and Luigi could get those lions so they won't hurt Daniel.

Me: Yes, Jonathan. I am sure they probably could.

I just love these kids!

Power outage

Yesterday afternoon there was a notice on the wall of our building that the power was going to be out from 8-3 today. The electric company was going to "improve" their system and wiring. This wasn't a big deal. I figured I could work early in the morning and then again at 3:00. It helps that Utah is 2 hours behind us so it would only be 1:00 there when I could work again. That didn't happen at all. The power finally came on again at 6:00 tonight. Oops, guess they didn't figure in some extra hours for mistakes.

It wasn't a terrible day though. I just broke out our lantern and was able to relax. I got halfway through my book and took an afternoon nap. It is nice when I don't have to work all day. When I knew the power wasn't coming on again at 3, I was responsible and went to the library where I was able to log onto my work computer and get some work done. I would much rather have power off then water off for the day. That happened once and I went crazy.

We are not friends anymore!

Yesterday was a terrible day! As I said before, we have construction going on and have a couple more weeks. I hate the construction guys being in my apartment everyday but it will be worth it in the end. They are no longer my friends, I hate them! Every night when they leave I go and plug in my bath and body works air freshener. The scent is lemonade. I just love the fresh smell especially after all those smelly men being around all day. They just don't leave my apartment smelling like roses. Well yesterday morning I forgot to unplug it before they came in. It was in an outlet they were working by so they took the liberty to unplug it themselves while I wasn't in the room anymore. They placed it on my table on its side on top of the puzzle I had just finished so all of the liquid ran out of it. It totally ruined that part of the puzzle and went through the puzzle and took off the finish and ruined my table. I later came out and saw what happened and I just started bawling. My poor table! My baby! We barely even eat on the thing because I don't want anything to happen to it until at least after we have kids and they ruin it. Why couldn't they have put it anywhere else but on the table!!?ImageImageI am over it now. I realized that it wasn't the end of the world and I will survive. When I showed Sam, he didn't even think it was that bad. Oh but it is bad. Everytime I have seen the construction guys today, I just curse at them under my breath. It is kind of cool how the spot is shaped as puzzle pieces. I am just trying to find a way to get over it. At least now we will probably eat at the table more that I am not scared of scratching it anymore. Well that was my drama for the week.
ImageOn a happier note, yesterday was Groundhog's Day. We loved the cupcakes I made last year so I made them again and we celebrated by watching Groundhog's Day. We just love that movie and this is the perfect excuse to watch it every year.Image

Is the remodel worth it??

There has been some remodeling going on in my apartment complex for the last year or so and they are finally starting to work on my building which is so exciting. We are one of the last buildings. We have a big sliding glass door right now that we never use and they are going to put 2 windows there instead. The sliding glass door lets in so much air so it will be a lot warmer in here once we have the double paned windows.ImageThe last few days since I have been home from Utah, they have been starting to take off the siding and the rock and working on the roof. It has been so loud out there all day long. I can't exactly just leave all day since I work from home. The pounding is starting to become permanant in my head. I just have to keep telling myself that it will be all worth it in the end. Our apartment will be so cute. Oh but then we got a notice telling us the scheduled days that the construction workers will need access to our apartment. They had originally told us that it would just be a couple of days they would need to come in but not according to the schedule. They need access to my apartment starting next Tuesday and they pretty much will be coming in every day until February 16th. I guess I should just make the best of it and have Mormon rummy and picnic parties with them every day. They are going to practically be my roommate since I will still just be here working. It is going to be so wonderful. It will be all worth it in the end, right? I will have to give you an update on my new found friends.
