Settings

GiveWP’s Settings page controls the global configuration of how your forms interact with Gateways, send emails, and sets the defaults for the display of your forms.

The Settings page is organized according to the following tabs:

General — Includes configuration options for Currency settings, Access Control, Sequential Ordering, and GiveWP pages created on activation.

Payment Gateways — Enable and configure Payment Gateways, as well toggling Test Mode so you can test gateways without using real money.

Default Options — Allows you to configure site-wide or “global” default settings, some of which can be overridden on a per-form basis.

Emails — Customize the various emails that are sent automatically when donations are made. This includes emails to donors, site admins, and others.

Licenses — Add your license keys for add-ons or plans purchased. You can also download add-on plugin zip files to install and activate.

Advanced — Advanced settings intended primarily for advanced users and developers. These settings control:

  • Enable Legacy Settings
  • Manage Data on Plugin Deletion
  • Set the Default User Role
  • Choose Whether to Display the Setup Page
  • Enable Rerunning of Database Migrations
  • Locate Orphaned Donation Forms
  • Clear the GiveWP Cache

Use these settings with caution and only if you know exactly what to expect and how to reverse it.

Security — These settings help protect donation forms from spam and abuse.

  • Enable Honeypot Field – Enabled by default. Adds a hidden field to donation forms to catch spam bots. Real donors won’t see the field, but spam bots will. If a spam bot fills out the field, the donation is blocked automatically. This helps reduce spam without using a CAPTCHA.
