So, Jake likes movies. Jake likes a lot of movies. I'll only be using what is pictured here or what he may actually verbally reference to go by what he knows. If you are on this wall and you do NOT want me to fourth-wall you let me know and I will add you to a list!!

Also if you do not like the usual Homestuck font and colors that Jake likes to type with let me know here as well and I will not have him respond to you in text!

Thanks for reading!
goodboybestshot: (the colors were all wrong)
You've reached Thad Atterberry. Sorry I can't come to the phone right now! Leave a message and I'll get back to you as soon as I'm not knee deep in some musty tomb! [Beep.]

Name: Current: Thaddeus "Thad" Barnaby Atterberry (Original: Jake English)
Age: 16
Appearance: link
Occupation: Part time TV Star

Full Application: Linked here.

Echoes Received:
1st Echo- Running and hiding from Lusii on his island. (Gave him a healthy fear of the dark)
2nd Echo- A vague recollection of this conversation after getting into an argument with some asshole.
3rd Echo-

Notes: Thad is the son of Alexander Atterberry, star of Alexander Atterberry's Adventures, a popular show on travel channel about exploring ruins and lost civilizations. The show, thanks to the energetic star, is climbing to Steve Irwin levels of infamy. Thad is also often on the show along side his dad and was recently on the cover of trashy teen magazine, K-15.

Canon and medium: Homestuck | Webcomic
Age: 16
Preincarnation Species: Human
Preincarnation Appearance: Doop.

Any differences:

Have a drawing!

He doesn't wear glasses and his eyes aren't quite the bright striking green they are in canon, but rather a more greyish hazel. His hair is also on the lighter side and he lacks that telltale overbite that the Prospit humans are known for.

His shorts are also never that short. Like. Ever.

Preincarnated History:

Okay, so, let's get this out of the way.

Homestuck is a Clusterfuck. Summing this canon up in a few concise paragraphs is going to be a pain in the ass. Luckily you will be getting a link with most of the pertinent information and I will try to focus on summing up Jake's involvement. (This is the link!) Luckily he has considerably less screen time than the original four main characters. Here's the important thing to know off the bat. Homestuck revolves around a game called Sburb. This game initiates the end of the world, tasking players to survive in what is essentially a very real, very deadly, video game. Beating the game results in the creation of a brand new universe, with the promise of godhood to the ones who win.

Jake's whole universe exists as a reset. In another time, in another universe, four other kids played the deadly game to survive. Having found that their whole struggle was doomed from the beginning, they found a way to initiate a hard reset on their game, with the hope of creating a more favorable outcome. There was a catch, however. The four original heroes would not be the ones to complete the game, rather they would trade places with their guardians.

This is Jake's universe, which is coined as the Alpha verse. He, Jane, Dirk, and Roxy all existed as guardians of the heroes from the original session. Though the hope was that their universe would be more successful, it appeared early on that their session was even more doomed than the original. Bummer.

Actually, the problem was that it was missing something. A whole lot of something, but we will get to that. Let's talk about Jake.

Jake English, known as Jake Harley in his previous life (Yes this is like the third time he's been "reset"), was a precocious boy stranded on an island full of murderous monsters out in the middle of the pacific ocean. Thanks to a lot of bullshit that came with his universe, he was stranded there since he was pretty little. See, a megalomaniac alien empress had wormed her way into their universe, seizing control of the world, starting just around the time that Jake and his friends would start playing the game. This empress had lived incognito as the baroness of a baking corporation, raising two kids. One would go on to be a rebellious mad scientist and Jake's grandmother. The other would become an actor, comedian, and Jane's poppop. Jake's grandmother would be one of the first to strike a silent rebellion against the baroness. She would also be assassinated.

Jake managed to survive, regardless. He lived in what remained of his house after the baroness blew it up. The good news is that he had internet. How? We just don't know. It doesn't matter, it simply is. This is how he made friends and basically kept from going nuts. This is how he met Jane, the heiress of the company that was owned by the baroness, Roxy, his slightly inebriated friend from four hundred years in the future, and Dirk, his aggressive love interest also from four hundred years in the future.

When they were all nearing sixteen, Sburb made itself known. Of course it wouldn't be as easy as just starting the game up and playing, no the game itself was already aiming to sabotage them before they could even begin. Despite all these near death defying (and Dirk smooching a bunch of corpses and then Jake having to kiss Dirk's severed head) shenanigans, they were finally able to enter the game.

You would think that after all of that, the game would pose an even greater adventure. Not really. Their session was meant to be a void session. The four of them spent five months toiling around in a session that would literally produce nothing. At first it didn't really seem all that bad. They were all together (which was a huge deal on its own), Roxy eventually overcame her alcoholism, and Jake and Dirk started dating.

By the time five months rolled around, however, tensions were running high. Jake wasn't feeling as awesome about this relationship business as he thought, and then he went and forgot Jane's birthday, on top of whining about his problems to her when she had liked him from the get go. Let's just say none of that ended well.

After the trickster mode disaster where all of them (but Dirk) went on some crazy sugar-induced trance where they were all screaming about having babies to solve their problems, Dirk broke up with him. All four of them woke up on their sacrificial slabs (like a quest bed but not) feeling like they'd come off of a bad trip. Awkwardness was had, as were talks of feelings, and some amount of growing happened, and then they all died.

But sacrificial slabs are great because when you die on them you actually resurrect as a God Tier player. Yay immortality!

Right after that, everything went to hell (again).

That's about the extent of Jake's involvement so far. Homestuck is still in progress, and the last thing we saw happen to him was that he got dragged into some sketchy tower after Jane (being viciously mind controlled by the baroness) socked him in the gut and carried his dazed ass off.

Reincarnated History:

Thaddeus Atterberry was born to one Alexander Atterberry, of England. His mother was never around, but that wasn't something that ever bothered Thad.

Despite being from across the pond, he and his father had a house in Locke City since he was very small. His father worked as an archeologist and researcher and would often go off on digs and expeditions. Because there was never anyone at home to leave Thad with, he was often taken along. From an early age, Thad got to experience all sorts of multicultural wonders. The Nazca lines? Check. Mayan Temples? Check. The great Pyramids of Egypt? Like, a hundred times.

It was kind of fun, though. Sure, Thad was mostly homeschooled and he missed out on a lot of normal stuff kids his age got to do, but he had his Dad and that was just fine with him.

That all changed when his dad got discovered. Apparently during one of his expeditions, one of the members of his team wrote in to a travell channel, enamored with the bright, energetic personality that was Alexander Atterberry. Who could blame them? He was sharp, adventurous, leaked a charisma that no one could quite place, and he had an astounding sense of humor to pull it all together. Throw in the British accent and what more could you ask for?

The show kicked off with a bang and soon the Atterberrys were approaching celebrity status.

It was all but incredibly overwhelming to a twelve year old.

Suddenly his Dad was even more busy than before. There were always camera crews and producers and gawkers on their expeditions, Thad always had a camera jammed in his face it seemed, and as their notoriety grew, the more often he was spotted in public. Thad, lacking normal socialization, didn't take to it as well as his dad had.

After an incident with a tabloid reporter and a diagnosis of social anxiety, Alexander decided it was time for a break. They headed back to Locke City while their current season finished up and they had an appropriate lull in between the next. Thad remained homeschooled, but it seemed like the media was content to back off after the first week of fanfare. It was then that Thad received his first echo.

Shortly after that incident and a great deal of tabloid dodging, the Atterberrys were called to start the next season and off they flew to South America.

This routine kept up for the next three years. His father would do a season, they would take a break in Locke, and then they would fly out for the next adventure shortly after. The show only continued to pull in ratings and it's one of the most popular shows on the travel channel. Unsurprisingly it only got harder to stay out of the spotlight. Puberty was cruel.

That five page, teen magazine spread that he got coerced into doing sure didn't make it any better.

With the closing of the show's current season, the Atterberrys made their routine trip back to Locke City, only now things are starting to get weird- and that strange string of numbers that Thad thought he'd long sense forgotten, suddenly pushed its way to the forefront of his mind.

First Echo:

Around the time Thad was thirteen, during one of the frequent visits back to Locke where their actual house was, Thad got lost. Now, that might sound hilarious from someone whose Dad was basically Indiana Jones, but his sense of direction has always been awful and he's pretty forgetful.

His wandering brought him to a side of town he'd never visited. Something barely inhabited with lots of overgrown empty lots, dying trees and signs of incomplete construction. To make matters worse the sun had gone down.

Something about that feeling of fear and displacement triggered something in his mind. That this had happened before. He was in a jungle, hiding from ...monsters?

He spent that whole night huddled in a half ruined, abandoned construction site, muttering a string of numbers until someone actually found him.

Preincarnation Personality:

Jake's about the definition of quirky. Which, to be honest, is expected when you've lived alone on an island you're whole life with little outside contact save for the internet and your dead grandma from another universe. Jake's the sort of kid that when he realized he had no one to play with, he made due with an over active imagination and delusions of grandeur. What we have is an awkward nerd with a heart of gold and a penchant for adventure who never actually leaves his room much.

Jake loves every movie. All of them. He has never found a movie that he has disliked. Which is a lot of movies, by the way. You can't even see the walls of his room anymore because they are so covered in posters. His favorite movies, however, seem to be thrilling and dangerous action movies, which is likely where he got his utter infatuation with adventuring and tomb raiding. Luckily for him his island is home to a few ruins that he's made a habit of turning upside down. Unsurprisingly he has a fondness for FISTICUFFS and wrestling and anything really involving getting rough and dirty.

The only problem with that would, of course, be the fact that he's the only one on his island. And despite how well he's lived on his own this whole time, its pretty obvious that he's a bit lonely. The only outside contact he gets are his best friends that he talks to over the internet, and his penpal from another universe. Before that he only had his eccentric grandmother that died when he was still really young. So his friends? Are dear as dickens to him. It's a notable difference between him and his beta-universe self. Jake Harley went out and traveled the world, seeing and doing everything that Jake English has only been able to dream about. He's isolated and its really obvious.

He's also a little bit overly trusting and gullible. While this is sometimes a very good thing. (Since he's always unconditionally believed his friends when they have asked him to and thus also acts as a very supportive shoulder.) It's also something that will likely get him in over his head. Dirk pointed this out to Jane saying he needed to be less receiving of everything that's told to him or else he's going to get in major trouble one day.

It's also something to note that one of the reasons he is so ready to believe in everything said to him, is that by believing, it's already become slightly less fake by that principle alone. Jake is clearly a very optimistic individual. This further hits home in the way that he's completely aware of what the CrockerCorp has done to his grandma in the past (crushing her enterprise and exiling her and Jake to the island while he was an infant) and still, despite that, holds no grudge over Jane for being the heir to the evil conglomerate and rather is sure that once she takes over things will finally be as they should.

But he is not without his own temper. If he's aggravated enough he will explode. It doesn't usually last for long, but this kid can go into a near Karkat level of wing winded rant wherein he causes a scene and typically embarrasses himself and anyone else around him. He can also be very stubborn and reckless. He doesn't always think before he shoots. It's also reasonable to say that he's not terribly socially adept given his background and probably comes off awkward around others. His old fashion vernacular and excitability certainly doesn't do him any favors in this regard. And the funny thing? Being around people is such a foreign concept to him that its likely he'll suffer some mild kind of social anxiety for it. He just has no idea how to react aside from what Hollywood's taught him. As such, a lot of the way he reacts is likely overblown or dramatic as he doesn't have much concept of social cues. This is proven with his conversation with Aranea.

Aside from his somewhat explosive temper and his inability to really think before he puts a bullet between the eyes of a defenseless tinkerbull, Jake is just really incredibly dense overall. Whether its his fault or not is kind of up for debate. Sometimes he comes off pretty ignorant, missing important but obvious cues, sometimes it really seems like he does it on purpose because wow, it takes a lot to be that dumb.

It was brought up in his subconscious that he had some idea that Jane was lying when she said she didn't like him, and regardless chose to dismiss the subject in favor of talking to her about his own problems. He's self-centered, but he doesn't do it knowingly. He's lived on his own and never really had anyone point this out to him, or tell him that acting that way wasn't okay. Even the thing about Jane lying to him had to be point blank shoved into his face and even then he couldn't acknowledge it.

It seems a lot like Jake just has an issue seeing past himself to empathize with others when it comes to problems. Or when he's really set on unloading about something, nothing will stand in his way until he's written an incoherent wall of text that makes the receiver want to bash their head into a wall.

Any differences:

Thad is a lot more reserved than Jake. He's a lot less likely to go brashly charging into something fists and guns ablaze. Because he began off in relative isolation only to have a bunch of unwanted social interaction practically shoved in his face, not to mention much of his private life being broadcasted on TV, Thad as a whole is a lot more toned down and just a wee bit shy. He's easily anxious and social interaction makes him nervous. He has a terrible time in large crowds, and if they're all crowds trying to get his statement or picture its about a hundred times worse.

He has been known to have a few legitimate panic attacks, and he does have medication, he just very rarely takes it. He's stubborn, despite himself. Along that vein, thanks to the relatively horrifying echo he received at thirteen, Thad is extremely wary of dark places when he's in the city. It isn't so much as he keeps having recollections of the echo that frightens him as he's terrified he will have them and then his imagination does the work for him. This paranoia is considerably lessened out on expeditions for some strange reason. (hint, it's because he forgets all about it. His normal anxiety remains, however.)

Another big difference in Thaddeus and Jake is the way Thad talks. While his speech can be considered pretty formal on its own, it does not take on the ridiculous quality of Jake's speech. Unlike Jake, Thad has grown up around other people that have influenced the way he speaks, as opposed to Jake, who's speech was influenced only by two things: Hollywood and the Internet. This will be something he gets back in an echo and honestly it will be fucking hilarious.

The final huge difference in the two would be the presence of a responsible, if eccentric family member. Thad loves his Dad to death and the two have a very close relationship despite them being worlds different from each other. The problem with spotlight is that there is an unseen amount of expectation that the public expects out of you. Failing to meet that is stressful, and that's a lot how Thad feels about living in his father's shadow. He gets this feeling that the public expects him to be every bit as sharp, funny, and charismatic as Alexander Atterberry, and he just isn't. While whether that is actually the case is yet to be seen, but its hard to not make things in your head seem bigger than they actually are.

Sometimes he will vent this frustration by complaining about his Dad and what he does, but its all empty venting. He loves the adventure gig, he just really wishes he didn't have to be filmed for it anymore. Even so, he knows his father loves having the show so he never has the heart to speak up about his grievances. That said, Thad is a bastion of history trivia. The kid can give the entire history on any ruined civilization without thinking about it. However, ask him to find his way around a city he's technically lived in since he was ten? Haha, you won't be seeing him for a few days. Math? Good lord no.

Abilities:

Jake's Sburb title is the Page of Hope. So far we don't have much on that besides a few hints. One of which was that the Page class is only really one thing and it is Potential. Releasing that potential is the key. Coupled in with the Hope aspect and apparently we have a badass over here. But right now none of that is really relevant. Canon has told us jack shit about it so maybe later on down the road it can be used.

He is God Tier, which essentially means he's been granted conditional immortality. He can only be killed through just or heroic means. He can also fly.

He is also pretty sweet with guns. His Grandma left him a whole armory and one of the things he does to pass the time is polish and take care of all his guns. Given his island, he's also put them to good use and he's not a bad shot. He's just a little impulsive with the trigger.

Possession wise, he has a Sylladex which is crammed full of all kinds of dumb and random shit. He seems to be kind of a pack rat and just picks up whatever he thinks he might need for later. He's got anything in it from computers to live ammunition.

Roleplay Sample - Third Person: A musebox post for Thaddeus. I have a few threads on there, but if you read the one Dirk-mun and I did, we sort of ran away with some of the setting rules so uh, don't take that seriously, it was just us having fun.

Roleplay Sample - Network: A post of preincarnated!Jake! In fact have two!
Any Questions? NO I think I am good. Hopefully Thad isn't too ridiculous to be accepted into the game AHAHA.

RELATIONSHIPS // WHISPERING ROCK PSYCHIC SUMMER CAMP。

( DIRK STRIDER. )
DIRK STRIDER.
Dirk Strider is Jake's best friend. Though they differ astronomically, the two have been mostly inseparable through Jake's Whispering Rock term. That began to shift when Dirk attained his eighth badge before Jake and Jake began to struggle relentlessly for his badge in Clairvoyance. Things are a little tense right now as Jake is starting to rethink this particular skill.

Image
( Jack Frost. )
JACK FROST
One of his beloved cabin-mates. Jack has a hell of a mischievous streak and while its great to see in action, Jake really wishes he could avoid the crossfire. Either way, Jake considers Jack a good friend and would take a psi-blast for him. He wonders what's up with him and Bunny, though.

Image
( MARSHALL LEE. )
MARSHALL LEE
Another one of Jake's cabin-mates. The three of them make an impenetrable force of stupid that is the bane of all counselors alike. Marshall is definitely the coolest of them, though. Jake really likes how chill and laid back Marshall is and enjoys talking with him. Though, sometimes, the guy can be a little unsettling.

Image
( EDWIN ASTER BUNNYMUND. )
EDWIN ASTER BUNNYMUND
HOPE BRO. No, Bun is one of Jake's Marksmanship bros and the two get along surprisingly well. They seem to share a healthy rivalry with their skills and for the most part, Jake respects Bun as his Jr. Counselor.

CHARACTER INFO
Character Name: Jake English
Series: Homestuck
Canon Point: Just after Jake and Dirk decide to try investigating Genosha.

AU/OC History: (ALTHOUGH HE IS ESSENTIALLY THE SAME JAKE THAT WAS APPED AT AN AU GAME CALLED GENOSHA I am tweaking his history a bit so its less of a convoluted comic book character backstory clusterfuck. His home world is a Marvel Universe of some kind, with a heavy emphasis on X-men and mutants. Here is a bulk of that info. If you need me to write something out, let me know.)

From the time that he was very little, Jake only knew his island. His island was a part of a small cluster of outer islands in the small African nation of Seychelles and was remote at best. It was quiet, quaint and isolated from the outside world.

Not that island life had been bad to him. Sure, he lost his beloved grandma when he was six to an adventurous expedition outside his island, but if anything Jake was a kid who could bounce back and make do on his own. His grandma had taught him plenty about survival and it ensured that he didn't go and get himself killed after the first week of being on his own.

He was lucky that the house his grandmother built was large and well cared for. The basement was stuffed to the brim with emergency rations and fire arms all but littered the place as much as her eclectic inventions. Because of this, Jake barely had a reason to leave his home.

He had food, shelter, weapons, and of course the most important: Internet.

So on the internet, Jake spent most of his days. From downloading movies to chatting up on forums, he had a mostly happy and uneventful childhood. It was on such forums that he actually met one of his best friends, Dirk Strider, who then introduced him to his other two most precious friends, Jane and Roxy. The four of them were a set and never missed a chance to talk to each other. Despite them all being miles and miles apart, they were as close as could be.

Of course, it was surprising when Dirk came to him one day and confessed that he was a mutant. The notion really made him think. Despite Jake's home country being one of the nations the most open about being anti-mutant, he himself had never harbored such sentiments. Especially knowing that he was pretty damn sure his grandma was a mutant herself. He told Dirk as much and it seemed to have lifted a great weight from his shoulders. Jake was just glad that his friend was now happy and honest around him!

Three years later he would understand everything Dirk and gone through with the manifestation of his own x-gene. Only unlike Dirks telepathic based ability, Jake's was entirely physical. He spent the entire afternoon cooped up in his bathroom while a pair of obtrusive wings sprouted from his back.

Revealing them to Dirk lead to the conversation that had them investigating Genosha, an entirely mutant country that boasted freedom, safety, and equality. It was essentially the world's only safe haven for mutants. See, the boys had a very similar, if bizarre situation. They were both isolated in their environment. Jake, had the jungle, while Dirk was stranded on an abandoned navy warship in the middle of the ocean.

Jake was of the opinion that they ought to relocate. Luckily Dirk's powers allowed him to leave his body as an astral projection in order to snoop where snooping was necessary.

Meanwhile, Jake confessed his secret to their other close friends in hopes of gathering them all together. If Dirk could bring good news, then they could all relocate and live happily in Genosha! No one would ever have to worry about being scared to leave their house or be seen in public, again.

Game Import: HE KIND OF IS? I'm not sure if he counts. We're taking both Jake and Dirk from before the game started, we're just keeping their au histories intact with some minor edits.

Personality: Jake's about the definition of quirky. Which, to be honest, is expected when you've lived alone on an island you're whole life with little outside contact save for the internet and your dead grandma. The only outside contact he gets are his best friends that he talks to over the internet, and the locals when he makes occasional visits to the main island. Before that he only had his eccentric grandmother that died when he was still really young. So his friends? Are dear as dickens to him.

Regardless, Jake's a good kid. Even before he was aware of his own mutant status, Jake was receptive and open minded about Dirk confessing to him, despite the questionable influence of his home country, being that Seychelles was openly anti-mutant. But Jake couldn't have cared less about all that. His friends were his friends to him.

Powers: Jake's mutation takes the form of a pair of short but strong wings. They don't grant him full flight, but he's able to use them to boost a number of things such as running speed and jumping height. He's also able to use them to soften his descent speed from a high vantage point and he can use them to glide and hover for a short time.

Because he has wings he also possesses an avian physiology to support them. His bones are mostly hollow to make gliding and hovering easier, and he carries very little body fat as well as suffers from a very quick metabolism. The boy can eat.

He also possess a latent regenerative healing factor, though its still laying dormant as of right now.

Other Details: I don't think I mentioned it much in the history, but in the setting of the game he was originally from, Seychelles was an actively anti-mutant country. In case you were all wondering where that came from.

Also I guess its notable that Jake speaks like three languages: English, French, and Seychellois Creole.

It's also something to note that one of the reasons he is so ready to believe in everything said to him, is that by believing, it's already become slightly less fake by that principle alone. Jake is clearly a very optimistic individual.

But he is not without his own temper. If he's aggravated enough he will explode. It doesn't usually last for long, but this kid can go into a near Karkat level of long winded rant wherein he causes a scene and typically embarrasses himself and anyone else around him. He can also be very stubborn and reckless. He doesn't always think before he shoots. It's also reasonable to say that he's not terribly socially adept given his background and probably comes off awkward around others at first. His old fashion vernacular and excitability certainly doesn't do him any favors in this regard. While he does have experience around people in this world, he's still taken a lot of cues from Hollywood on how to act. As such, a lot of the way he reacts is likely overblown or dramatic. Given all of that, Jake does still have moments where he needs to be alone. He's prone to sometimes just disappearing off to go do his own thing, and then reappearing much later like its no big deal. He can only deal so much of being out huge groups of people at one time, and needs to be able to recharge. Usually he does this by getting lost in the woods.

He's also pretty dense, and sometimes doesn't quite understand when he does something ignorant or insensitive. He's not doing it on purpose, but a lot of stuff goes right over his head and it usually helps to have someone tell his ass he's out of line. He's still a good kid, though, just a little dumb.

AU History: Born to illustrious Psychonaut parents Jake had an interesting destiny ahead of him. Unfortunately a mission went sour when he was still very young, and he was sent to live with his grandmother in the island country of Seychelles. The island which she lived was pretty remote, and few people bothered them that far out. Jake grew up mostly in isolation from the rest of the world.

He did have a few windows into the outside world. His grandmother had television and internet, and he spent plenty of time on both, mostly watching movies. She also made a habit of bringing him home comic books from the main island. One of his favorite, being True Psychic Tales. The romanticized adventures of psychic secret agents saving the world from terrorism and certain doom fueled an adventurous spirit from a wee age. Jake would often spend what time he wasn't watching movies and reading comics, outside in the woods pretending to be one of the illustrious Psychonauts, saving the world and rescuing damsels.

Which was just as well when he discovered his psychic potential. See, what with his parents being Psychonauts it made a pretty strong case for Jake inheriting psychic powers himself. His grandmother knew as much, and at least did her subtle best at preparing him for it.

It only took so many times of him pretending to shoot things with mind powers for it to actually happen. When he came home excitedly babbling about the way he blew that tree apart, his Grandmother knew that the best thing she could do for him was send him off to Whispering Rock. Being Psychonauts may have been what took away his parents, but she knew that no other institution would give him better understanding of his powers than the psychic summer camp.

After a little finagling with getting him over to the states and a good bit of saving up, he was able to attend. He started later compared to most of the others at the age of 12, but he all but threw himself into it. Starting off was a little rough though, he really had never been around so many people before in his life and if it hadn't been for making a few very important friends, he probably would not have done well.

However, now that he's 16 he's all but adjusted to camp life and to his abilities. He's still short a few badges to make Jr. Counselor, but with his best friend's promotion, he's working his butt off to catch up. It's just unfortunate that all the stuff he has to learn is all the stuff he's really not good at. Like subtlety and stealth. Sigh.

Mental World: Jake is every bit about adventure and excitement. He constantly entertains delusions of grandeur and spends most of his time with his head in the clouds. As such, his mental world resembles very much like a giant, Indiana Jones maze-like tomb with trap doors and secret passages a plenty. His censors look like mummies and they will stamp the shit out of you if you let them. He has surprisingly strong defenses against unwanted thoughts.

Though the tomb looks to be intimidating and endless fun, it really doesn't take a whole lot to get through. A few simple deductions and the maze will have you finding the exit. Once you do everything shifts into another place entirely.

A small island with a structure in the middle that makes up his bedroom back home. Its covered in comics and books and movies. Unlike the tomb which was riddled with mental cobwebs, the bedroom looks to be perfect order. The only thing that seems really strange is that there seems to be a huge shadow casting over everything. Once outside of the little building that makes up Jake's room, you'll see a large structure in the distance. A towering monument of two people, a couple, casting a dark shadow over Jake's mental happy place.

Because the truth of it is, Jake loves his adventures but he's much more okay with reading about them than doing them. While he entertains these fantastic ideas of being a Psychonaut the notion actually kind of scares him. He feels he's at a point now, where his life is simply being driven in a particular direction without him being allowed to take the wheel. Everyone is expecting all these great things of him, but really, he's not so sure he wants anything to do with it. He's certain his parents were great Psychonauts, but he isn't his parents.

Then again- how can he let anyone down?

SAMPLES
Sample 1: Here

Sample 2: Summer vacation. It was odd to think that the concept alone had once filled him to the brim with an unimaginable excitement, but for some reason this year he couldn't help but feel a little bit of dread as he board the plane.

Of course he was still going to go, there was no question about that. It wasn't even that his Grandmother had to ask- Going to camp was just apart of his life. He'd been doing it since he was small. He wasn't about to let a little case of the blues get him down enough that he couldn't visit with everyone he knew over the summer. He had friends who were waiting for him, after all. That alone made it worth coming.

It was just everything else that made him unsure. He was still a senior camper this year. He tried and failed three time the previous year to attain the badge that would get him into the counselor position. He knew Dirk was going to be on his ass, hell everyone was probably going to be on his ass about that. He was just awful as sin at Clairvoyance. What could he do? Apparently not enough.

At the very least, there were a few people he knew didn't care as much about that kind of thing, and that's really what he come to realize he was looking the most forward to. With his cabin-mates there's an untold potential of trouble to get into, adventure to be had, and just fun all around. That's what he really wanted. He was tired of worrying himself sick over this Psychonauts business. This year? He was going to have fun.

[Well the job had been off from the start. Jake English, accomplished and experienced hired hitman, was usually pretty good about gut feelings and right now this job wasn't giving him good ones. Of course he was far too into the job to stop. He already vowed to carry it out with the utmost of his ability, there was no backing down. He might not have taken crime jobs very often, but that didn't mean he wanted to cross his beneficiaries.

It wasn't good for business.

So either way he'd infiltrated the warehouse with little trouble, which wasn't really all that telling one way or another. Sometimes he had good days, sometimes bad. Sometimes security put up a fight, sometimes they were slacking on the job. He had a silencer for a reason.

Making his way into the biggest, most central room of the warehouse he stumbled upon a scene he wasn't really expecting and had to pause a moment to try and figure out what was going on. This wasn't anything he was briefed on. ]
