I started making this scarf for my mother last December. It was to be her Christmas present, but I never finished it. Now that she is coming up to visit me for graduation, I thought I better finish it before she arrived. Last night I finished the knitting. It is now drying after I washed it and I will need to weave in the end threads and it will be awesome.

Look at the super cool photos below!

Just back from the Mountain Goats show. Ah it was really really fun. Imagebluejayway, Imagediffuse and I were at the front right by Peter Peter Hughes microphone. Imagebluejayway and Imagediffuse came up with this crazy idea to go buy a bottle of whiskey and give it to John as he started the set. It turned out to be a great idea. They passed it around up stage. The set was pretty Heretic Pride, Sunset Tree heavy. One song from I think Full Force Galesburg and the rest Tallahassee forward. The See American Right was really really rocking.

They played this song called Exiting Portland, Oregon or something like that. It was an amazing song, something about how "Leaving Portland, you tried to kill me" it was really great.

Met Peter Peter after the show. Both him and John were wearing really great suits tonight.

I really want them to play Going to Scotland, anything from We Shall All Be Healed, Commandante, anything from Coroner's Gambit, California Song, The Recognition Song, or anything from All Hail West Texas.

The annoying girl that was there last year that kept saying "love you love you love you" was at this one as well. Less drunk so less annoying.

My pictures came out terrible. I am not even going to try and bring my camera tomorrow and just listen to the music.

Looking forward to tomorrow!

When I saw the sign on the door yesterday, I was so disappointed. I stood across the street waiting for the bus and loved watching everyone's reaction to the note on the door.

So a homeless guy might or might not have died on the bus today.

I got on the number six at 10th and Columbia and the bus driver wasn't sitting in his seat waiting to check my monthly pass, instead I find him leaning over a guy in one of the front handicapped rows who is laying down. The driver is yelling "Can you hear me? Are you okay? You are not okay. You need help." We then continued for TWO stops until we arrived at 5th and Columbia where we stayed until an ambulance and fire truck came. They tried to get him respond, he could not sit up, his eyes remained closed, the medical people leisurely walked around getting things in place for getting him to the hospital. So yeah, he might or might not be dead. We got kicked off the bus right before they carried him off to the stretcher.

Weird and scary.

Everyone should tell all your friends living in Portland to buy my loft bed. I don't want to drag it to my next apartment. I might end up giving it to Janice and Richard to use as firewood.

Well I found a new place to live. I'll be out of my studio downtown by next weekend and I'll be in a place about three miles away on the other side of the river. It's a basement apartment with a gas stove (!). It is essentially a big studio, but it is easily divisible into a bedroom, living room, and dining room. I get to use the washer and dryer there as well. No more paying quarters for laundry! I think I still have a roll of quarters left over. The people that own the house and live up stairs are exceedingly nice and I think I got picked for the apartment out of the many applicants based on my winning personality and Imagemorpuddypond. Thanks.

I bought a new bike. It's a Specialized Langster. It's this cool bike where it can be a single speed, or you can take off the wheel, turn the hub around, and it's a fixed gear bike. I'm pretty excited about it. I rode it home from Imagebluejayway's and it is way easier to get up the hill on my side of the river now with a much, much lighter bike then my mountain bike.

I'm without internet at my place right now, so I'll post a picture of my bike later.

I start school again at the end of the month. I'm going to be taking 16 hours, with 4 hours being an online woman's studies class (Women as it relates to the Environment and Activism). I'm also taking Experimental Physics, Modern Physics, and Mathematical Methods for Physicists.

How do you stave off your mother's questions of when you are going to get married?

I called my mom yesterday because it was her birthday and her second question after how's your job was "how's church, have you been on any dates lately? Are you going to go on a mission? Your cousin Amanda met her husband on her mission or you could just meet your husband at church like Kirsten did."

Mom, I'm fine. I'll get married when I am ready, I am 22 years old and even though you got married when you were 19 and I almost did when I was 21, I'm happy with where I am, I do not need to get married (or marred, heh Doreen) to make my life complete.

Travis: I mean what is the point of an anti virus if it is worse than actually getting a virus.

So I went and saw Derby tonight at the Doug Fir. My friend Megan, that I work with, is dating the drummer. It was such an awesome show. It fulfilled my indie rock need. Oh! The opening bands were awesome as well! The first one had a song where everyone had tambourines. I was dancing and having such a great time. It was a super great show.

Also I'm going to make waffles tonight! I have some blue berries from my produce box and I bought a waffle iron, so we'll see how my first attempt at vegan waffles goes.

Oh I made a cooking journal. There isn't anything on there yet, but I have plans, oh plans, for it. So if you want to add it the name is Imagecouscouscarol.

Off to make waffles!

So I met George Duran, pictured above, yesterday. We hung out, talked about how great Portland was, his new hosting duties on The Secret Life of... on the Food Network, and how much we love Alton Brown.

And by met, I mean I saw him at the place I went to brunch yesterday. He was filming a segment for The Secret Life of.. at the greasy, delicious coffee shop Rachel and I went to. Maybe we'll be in a background shot?

This morning I decided to go running. I wanted to run as far as I could without stopping so I ran as far as I could until I thought my legs would break apart from me in protest. It turns out that point is about 1.5 miles with the hills in NW. I walked for a bit then ran some more, all in all my loop was 2.5 miles. Nothing too bad, Rachel and I went out longer this week. I came back, had intense cramps (not too weird, it is my dreaded girly week), and I felt light headed. I sat on my futon with my head between my legs and cried from the pain of my cramps. I finally decided to get up and started walking to my bathroom when I reached out to steady my hand and slowly darkening head on my built in nook. The next thing I remember is being curled up in the fetal position on the floor. My arm hurt, so I think I landed on it when I feel down, but I don't really know. I was really scared and didn't know what to do. My hands were shaking, I couldn't focus on anything, I was hot, then cold, then hot again. I'm fine now, but my mom told me that since I have very little fat on my body, when I exercise there is no reserves to pull from. Remind me to eat more than a piece of toast and a glass of water before I go out running.

I watched two movies today, cooked a ton, received a chair so I can sit at my desk, and generally stayed inside to keep out of the cold and rain today.

I saw The Goonies for the first time. Very '80s and very fun.

I also saw a streaming video version of Sicko. I have to say it was pretty shocking. The US is screwed up and I feel helpless in trying to change it as I feel I have little effect on anything that happens. I might just move to Canada though. I do like the cold weather..

My favorite parts:

“Considering that Wal-Mart is like a second home to us, we’re excited to have our wedding there,” said Kymberlie.

Jarrod says he’s loved Genny ever since he first saw her working in Wal-Mart’s layaway department, years ago. After both stopped working at the store, their friends from Wal-Mart decided that they were meant to be together and helped them reconnect. Two and a half years later, the couple couldn’t be happier to marry at the place where they first met.

Couples will receive a wedding package with an estimated value of more than $5,000. This package not only includes the decorated wedding venue in Wal-Mart’s colorful lawn and garden area surrounded by the season’s bright foliage, but also an adjacent tent for the reception area, wedding cake and party food. The package also includes 14kt gold and diamond wedding bands, wedding invitations, wedding and groom’s cakes, fresh floral bouquets, digital cameras and digital photo frame, a portable GPS device, reception food and a $1,000 Wal-Mart gift card.

I wander if Wal-Mart will be open to being a wedding venue every other day of the year as well!

I bought a bike today for $100. My friend Julie bought it for her step daughter and then she never rode it, so she sold it to me. Yay! Why would I need a bike in my awesome city? Funny you should ask, it's because I'm going to train for a sprint triathlon for 1 Sept 2007. I'm actually pretty excited about it. I'm going to be training with two other girls from Imagedamnportlanders.

Today was the start of the Rose Festival and Julie and I went to the Star Light Parade.  My apartment was actually located at the terminus of the course so it made it easy to come home when everything was done.
