So, at the beginning of this year I thought out family's biggest milestones would be 1) Kyle getting the Priesthood and going to Middle School, and 2) Mia, my baby, going to Kindergarten. Today we got a new one. Greg was just made the Bishop of our ward. I guess I'm not too surprised. He loved being the second councilor for 5 years, and even told me how much he's missed it this last year as he served as the Stake Young Men's first councilor. He loves working with the youth and is a very laid back and patient man. I'll miss him. I knew I picked a great husband, it's just nice to have this confirmed every once in a while. :) Here's to our new grand adventure!

Harsh
Greg: Look at what I have to read for work.
Me: (glancing at the title) Execution?! Sounds pretty intense.
Greg: Um, there's a subtitle.
Me: 'The Discipline of Getting Things Done' ohhhh. That makes more sense. :)

Have you ever...

had the snot scared out of you by your children? This morning when I came in from my walk it was barely getting light outside and I still had my music on. I walked over to the counter and set down my ipod and Ben came up behind me and touched my arm. I let out a very girly squeal (I'm sorry to admit) and almost backhanded the poor kid. Yikes! Anyone else have a story to share??

Me: (reading worksheet instructions) Color in the sun and add more sunbeams.
Mia: (draws little stick figures under her yellow sun) Mom, look at my Sunbeams!

Greg: I really need to change the air filters.
Kyle: And by "I" you mean "one of us"?

Major Arts and Crafts
Every year our town has The Children's Festival of the Arts. It's become one of our favorite family events. The kids get to wander around Main Street coloring, painting, gluing and drawing to their heart's content. (The boys were still in Utah, so I just had Kendra and Mia. It was kind of nice...)
I'm forever immortalized in chalk on Main St.
Sculpting..
Coloring..
Showing off their painted faces and pictures.

Fall Festival
Kyle and Ben were lucky enough to take a road trip with their Grandparents and cousins up to Utah! Our nephew Sean was getting baptized and we sent the boys as our representatives. They rented a minivan and had a so much fun! They played hard the whole time and didn't want to come home. The boys brought freshly picked apples, and carrots, squash and raspberries from Aunt Mary-Lou's garden, so I was really excited to see them when they got back!
While they were vacationing, I took the girls to the school's annual evening of booths and prizes. They wanted to wear their costumes again so here they are:
Pretty face paint!
Hay ride!
It was a pretty fun evening.
