As the firm expands its capabilities and scales project delivery, Groom continues to invest inexperienced leadership to support future growth, client service, and operational excellence.
Groom Construction has delivered ground-up, expansion, and renovation projects for commercial clients throughout New England. The firm’s team-driven approach emphasizes transparency, collaboration, and accountability – ensuring clients understand project milestones, cost-saving opportunities, risk mitigation strategies, and schedule performance. This consistent focus has helped Groom earn a reputation for integrity and delivering projects on time and within budget.
To support this continued growth, Groom recently announced two strategic hires – strengthening both executive operations and field leadership.

Built for Banking: Groom Construction Delivers Branches That Perform
February 5, 2026
Banks demand more from a construction partner than a typical retail or office project. Every branch must balance security, customer experience, accessibility, and operational uptime – often on tight schedules and within active, occupied environments. Groom Construction is built for that challenge. As a general contractor specializing in high-volume, repeat banking programs, Groom delivers reliable, consistent execution for national, regional, and local financial institutions across the country – with a strong and growing presence in Florida.
Groom, a national general contractor with offices in Salem, Massachusetts, and Naples, Florida, is supported by a team of 200+ employees nationwide and is licensed in all but five states. Our principal leadership team brings more than 40 years of experience, guiding a diverse organization with specialized professional staff and the capability to self-perform key scopes where it adds value. Safety is always the foundation of how we build – because in banking, precision and compliance are essential.
A Banking-First Approach to Success
Our approach is simple and disciplined: budget, safety, knowledge, schedule, and communication. From day one, we focus on clear expectations and proactive coordination – aligning stakeholders, maintaining schedule integrity, and protecting business continuity. We know that a bank’s experience is shaped by both the visible and the technical: creating the right atmosphere in the lobby is just as important as meeting overhead clearance and code requirements at a drive-through lane. That’s why we take the time to understand each branch’s unique needs and deliver with accountability from start to finish.
What We Build for Banks
Groom supports banking clients from preconstruction through closeout, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, and procurement. Our banking portfolio spans:
- Ground-up construction and new branch delivery
- Corporate office build-outs
- Renovations and remodels of existing branches
- Full-service drive-through lanes and site upgrades
- ATM rollouts and replacements
- ADA accessibility improvements and compliance upgrades
Whether it’s a targeted refresh or a full interior and exterior transformation, Groom provides the systems, staffing, and processes needed to execute consistently across multiple locations – while maintaining the highest quality.
Proven Program Experience: TD Bank and Beyond
Groom has completed 100+ TD Bank projects across the United States, with each branch tailored to local requirements and operational needs. Typical interior renovation scopes include updated finishes such as paint, flooring, millwork, furnishings, electrical, and lighting. Exterior scopes often include new asphalt, striping, ADA ramps and accessibility upgrades. For branches receiving both interior and exterior renovations, projects may also include exterior painting, seal coating, and additional ADA modifications.
In Florida, Groom has delivered TD Bank work in markets including Naples, Miami, Poinciana, Boca Raton, Miami Shores, Land O’ Lakes, and Lutz. We’ve also recently completed work for Seacoast Bank in Bradenton, Florida, with work at their Jacksonville location scheduled to begin soon. We continue to support banking construction across the state as new needs emerge.
Beyond Florida, Groom partners with a wide range of financial institutions nationwide, including Institution for Savings, St. Jeans Credit Union, and Navy Federal Credit Union locations across the country. This depth of experience makes Groom an industry leader in executing high-volume renovations, remodels, resets, and rollouts – the kind of repeatable work where consistency, speed, and communication define success.
Client-First – Always
At Groom, “client first” isn’t a slogan – it’s how we operate every day. We provide a single point of contact, create customized solutions for each bank’s brand and operational requirements, and take full responsibility for every aspect of the work. From preconstruction planning to final punch, our teams deliver dependable results that help branches open on time, operate efficiently, and serve customers with confidence.
When it comes to construction management for the banking industry, Groom delivers. If you’re planning a branch refresh, a multi-site program, or a new build in Florida, you can bank on Groom.

The plumbing system was completely rebuilt to accommodate upgraded restrooms, a new breakroom, and additional utility needs. Safety and technology enhancements were major components of the project. Groom Construction installed a brand-new fire sprinkler system meeting all NFPA and local code requirements. A new telecommunications system and audio system were integrated to support store operations, internal communications, and customer engagement.
The interior build-out also featured significant program elements, including the construction of five new golf simulation centers. Each simulator bay was built with dedicated framing, electrical and data infrastructure, acoustic treatments, flooring, and coordinated installation of vendor-supplied equipment. The team additionally constructed a fully outfitted employee breakroom with cabinetry, appliances, and complete utility hookups. Interior improvements across the sales floor and back-of-house areas included new flooring, ceiling systems, lighting, paint, and finishes.
The completed Golf Galaxy store now reflects a modern, operationally efficient, and customer-focused retail environment aligned with the brand’s national standards. A Night of Gratitude and Community: Groom Construction Proudly Supports Marblehead’s Wreaths Across America Event
November 17, 2025
On November 12th, Groom Construction had the honor of sponsoring and attending a deeply meaningful evening hosted by the Marblehead Wreaths Across America team at The Beacon Restaurant & Bar. The event brought together neighbors, veterans, families, and local businesses in a heartfelt celebration of community, remembrance, and gratitude – and we were proud to play a part in it.
The gathering served as a powerful reminder of Wreaths Across America’s mission: to remember our fallen heroes, honor those who serve, and teach future generations the value of freedom. Throughout the night, the room was filled with warmth and unity as Marblehead came together to support this important cause.
The evening featured moving remarks from distinguished guests whose service and reflections inspired everyone in attendance:
-
Peter Merry, Captain, United States Marine Corps (1967–1971)
-
Dr. Ron Plotka, Captain, United States Air Force Dental Corps (1968–1971)
-
Owen Dulac, Marblehead High School student-athlete and proud West Point applicant
Their words served as a heartfelt reminder of the sacrifices made by so many in service to our country.
A special thank-you to Julie Groom for her leadership and vision in organizing such a meaningful event. We also recognize Carrie McGovern, Tammi Baer, and Kim Furnald for their tremendous work behind the scenes.
The Marblehead 4th graders added a special touch with their beautiful handmade banners, and the dedication of the Wreaths Across America volunteers – Edgar, Johnny, Erica, Tim, Dee, Izzy, Otto, and Cher – helped make the evening truly exceptional.
The success of this event wasn’t measured by attendance alone but by the profound sense of unity that filled the room. Together, we are helping ensure that every veteran in Marblehead is honored this December with a wreath placed upon their grave.
If you were unable to attend but would still like to contribute, donations can be made here: www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/MA0153

Groom Construction Plays Key Role in Gateway Plaza Redevelopment in Fort Pierce, FL
June 10, 2025
Groom Construction is proud to be a key partner in the full-scale redevelopment of Gateway Plaza in Fort Pierce, Florida. As one of the general contractors involved in the transformation of this 90,000 sq. ft. shopping center, Groom is overseeing several critical phases of the project in collaboration with the property owner, Time Equities Inc. Our scope has included tenant shell work and interior fit outs contributing to the overall revitalization. The project marks a significant investment in the Fort Pierce community, breathing new life into a key retail corridor and laying the groundwork for a revitalized shopping experience.
As part of the redevelopment, Groom Construction has overseen major structural and aesthetic updates to multiple spaces within the plaza. For the Bravo supermarket shell—previously a former Kmart location—our team completed a full demolition of the existing structure, followed by the construction of new demising walls to separate incoming tenants. We installed all-new electrical service, rooftop HVAC units, and built a completely new façade featuring a mix of CMU, EIFS, wood siding, and expansive storefront glass. A full exterior repaint completed the transformation of this anchor space.
In another section of the plaza, Groom handled the complete demolition of a former Winn-Dixie to make way for new tenants Burlington and Planet Fitness. This phase included the construction of a demising wall to separate the two tenants and the addition of a new 20-foot expansion to the front of the building, including new structural elements and concrete slab work. We completed the shell space for Planet Fitness, while also managing the full interior fit-out for Burlington. The Burlington buildout included new offices, a finished sales floor, full mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, and all interior finishes. Our team is also completing the final fixturing for Burlington, with the store scheduled to open this summer.
For America’s Best, Groom conducted interior demolition, installed new storefront glass, and delivered updated electrical service. The space is now prepped and ready for tenant fit-out, bringing another nationally recognized brand into the plaza.
As a leader in national retail construction, Groom Construction’s Retail Division specializes in ground-up builds, high-volume remodels, resets, and roll-outs. We partner with national and global brands to deliver consistent execution across markets, offering a single point of contact and custom-built solutions for each client’s unique program. Our team has deep expertise in all aspects of retail construction—from new developments and conversions to pre-construction planning and procurement—always with a focus on safety and minimizing disruption to daily operations. Whether it’s one location or one hundred, Groom delivers quality, speed, and reliability that our retail clients count on.
The Gateway Plaza project is a showcase of Groom Construction’s ability to manage complex redevelopment efforts across multiple scopes—shell work, structural additions, full build-outs, and tenant coordination—while maintaining quality and efficiency. We’re proud to help reshape this vital retail hub and look forward to welcoming new tenants and customers to Gateway Plaza in the months ahead.

The project incorporates life safety systems, including fire extinguishers and smoke detectors in the mechanical return air ducts. Energy systems include lighting controls, occupancy sensors and low-flow plumbing fixtures. Additionally, the building’s tight thermal envelope contributes to overall energy savings.
As a LEED-certified project, this TD Bank branch meets rigorous sustainability standards, demonstrating Groom’s commitment to delivering high-performance, eco-friendly commercial spaces.
Golf Galaxy: Ocala, FL
The Golf Galaxy project in Ocala, Florida, was successfully completed over a 22-week schedule, transforming a 20,000 square foot open box space into a fully modernized retail environment. The project was delivered on time and under budget, with a final cost of $1.3M.
Scope of work included a complete storefront renovation and major system upgrades, such as the installation of five new rooftop units (RTUs) with all-new HVAC, new plumbing and electrical systems, a new sprinkler system, and updated telecom and audio systems throughout. Interior highlights feature five state-of-the-art golf simulation centers and a standard breakroom, all designed to enhance the customer experience and operational functionality of the space. This project demonstrates a strong commitment to quality execution, budget management, and client satisfaction.
Gateway Plaza: Fort Pierce, FL
Groom Construction is leading the full redevelopment of a 90,000-square-foot shopping center in Fort Pierce, Florida, serving as the General Contractor responsible for managing all phases of construction. This includes overseeing site work, shell construction, and tenant fit-outs to ensure timely and coordinated project delivery. The Bravo Shell portion of the project has been successfully completed, marking a key milestone in the overall redevelopment effort.
The Burlington tenant fit-out is almost complete, with only fixture installation remaining. This final phase is scheduled for completion in June.
Marshalls: Pompano, FL
Marshall’s is currently in the permitting phase, with construction anticipated to begin in early June. Groom Construction is actively coordinating pre-construction activities to ensure a seamless project launch once approvals are secured, positioning the team for an efficient and timely buildout.
Four Winds Condominiums: Naples, FL
Groom Construction recently completed balcony repairs at the Four Winds Condominiums, addressing structural concerns identified by the project’s structural engineer. In addition, proposals for both plumbing and electrical repairs have been approved by ownership. Plumbing work is scheduled to begin shortly, while the electrical work is currently in the permitting process.
The Pool House and Pool Deck renovation is progressing as planned. Groom is working closely with the design team and ownership to finalize plans and maintain the targeted completion date ahead of the upcoming season in November.
As we continue to grow our presence across Florida, Groom Construction remains committed to delivering exceptional quality, responsive service, and lasting value to every project we undertake. With an experienced team, a client-first approach, and a deep understanding of the region’s unique market needs, we’re proud to be building strong partnerships and even stronger communities throughout Florida.
Groom Construction and Soldier On Celebrate Ribbon Cutting of the Gordon H. Mansfield Veterans Community in Tewksbury
May 2, 2025
On Thursday, May 1, Groom Construction proudly joined Soldier On, elected officials, community partners, and supporters to celebrate the ribbon cutting of the Gordon H. Mansfield Veterans Community in Tewksbury, Massachusetts. This milestone marks the official completion of a transformative development that will provide permanent supportive housing for veterans who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
Located at 1660 Main Street, adjacent to Heatherwood Gracious Retirement Living, the new four-story, 18,565-square-foot building includes 21 fully furnished residential units—18 one-bedroom and 3 studio apartments. All units are designed to be visitable, with three meeting full accessibility standards. The community offers wraparound services including transportation, case management, internet, cable, utilities, one meal per day, and a telehealth kiosk through “Let’s Talk Interactive.” These integrated supports help ensure that each veteran not only has a place to live, but also the stability and care needed to thrive.
The project stands as Soldier On’s eighth permanent supportive housing facility since the organization was founded in 1994. Headquartered in Pittsfield, MA, Soldier On is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending veteran homelessness by delivering housing and supportive services directly to veterans where they live. Their mission is to ensure that formerly homeless and at-risk veterans achieve sustainable, independent lives in safe, affordable homes.
The Gordon H. Mansfield Veterans Community is named in honor of the late Gordon H. Mansfield, a highly decorated Vietnam War veteran who served as Deputy Secretary of Veterans Affairs and as Assistant Secretary for Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity at the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development. During his military service, Mansfield earned the Distinguished Service Cross, Bronze Star, three Purple Hearts, Combat Infantryman Badge, and Presidential Unit Citation. His legacy of advocacy for veterans’ rights and housing equity lives on through this community.
The excitement and gratitude among the veterans moving in speaks volumes. These twenty-one men and women are eager to become part of the Tewksbury community, where they will find not just shelter, but dignity, support, and connection.
At Groom Construction, we are honored to have played a role in building this life-changing facility. We look forward to witnessing the positive impact it will have—not just for the veterans who will call it home, but for the entire Tewksbury community.
Together, we continue the mission of ending veteran homelessness—one home, one community at a time.

Groom Construction Nearing Completion on a New Residential Facility for Foster Care Youth
January 13, 2025
Groom Construction Co., Inc. recently celebrated the one-year anniversary of groundbreaking construction for a new residential facility for foster care youth at Plummer Youth Promise in Salem, MA. This project represents a transformative step forward for the organization and the youth it serves.
The current residential facility on Winter Island, built in 1867, has continuously housed young people for over 150 years—a testament to Plummer’s tremendous legacy. However, the building has long shown its age, with challenges such as a temperamental heating system, cramped double-occupancy bedrooms, and outdated locker room-style bathrooms that offer little privacy for residents.
The new residential facility will provide dignified, trauma-informed living spaces for youth and families, aligning with Plummer’s standard of excellence in care. It will feature apartment-style kitchens and appliances, allowing youth to cook and do laundry in a comfortable, welcoming environment. Ample personal storage will ensure their belongings are safely secured. New single-occupancy restrooms and bedrooms will provide privacy for youth to study, connect with loved ones, and rest without disruptions.
Once the new residential building is completed, we will begin renovations on the historic structure. Preserving this building will honor its important legacy while adapting it to meet modern needs. Included in this space will be administrative offices and culturally welcoming indoor spaces that will support family visits and gatherings. A fully appointed family-visiting apartment will also be available, offering overnight accommodations and a space for families to cook meals together, fostering deeper connections and a sense of home.
The new facility will be heated and cooled via a solar-powered geothermal system. This feature will significantly decrease the operational costs of the facilities over time and reduce the carbon footprint. We’ve installed geothermal heating and cooling by drilling nearly 50 geothermal wells over 300 feet into the earth. This system captures the earth’s constant temperature to efficiently exchange warm and cool air.
Significant milestones have been reached in the project’s development. All exterior flatwork, hardscaping, and paving have been completed, giving the facility a polished and welcoming appearance. Landscaping is now 90% complete, adding natural beauty and functionality to the outdoor spaces.
The building’s exterior is 100% finished, with a weather-tight façade featuring high-quality materials such as Hardi clapboard siding, Hardi trim, PVC water table, and red cedar shingles. These elements ensure durability while complementing the facility’s aesthetic design.
Inside the building, we are currently in the finishing stages. Wall preparations, priming, and finish coats are in progress, while flooring has been installed in 75% of the facility. Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) finishes are well underway, reflecting our attention to detail in creating a fully functional space. Casework and cabinetry installation is ongoing, with countertops scheduled to be installed by the end of the month. We are on track to begin the punch list process for the entire second floor this month, with completion expected by the beginning of next month.
This milestone brings us closer to delivering a space designed to provide a safe, comfortable, and inspiring environment for foster care youth. Stay tuned for further updates as we finalize this transformative project!
