Name: Jacuzzi Splot
Age: 19
AU/PG/CANON/OC: Baccano! STE!Reincarnation AU

Key Points:
  • Jacuzzi lived one life as a prohibition-era bootlegger and leader of a gang. He did a lot of really illegal shit and had severe anxiety.

  • He died at some point and was reborn as the son of a Locke City police officer.

  • Reborn Jacuzzi struggled with anxiety and health problems at a young age, along with having abusive families and generally just struggling to exist.

  • When he was 19, he began getting "echoes," along with many Locke City residents, memories of his 1930s gangster life.

  • After meeting a few people from his past life reincarnated, Jacuzzi couldn't bear to lie to his parents anymore and told them about his echoes. His parents immediately kicked him out.

  • He moved in with Isaac and Miria Dian, reincarnated from his past life, as well as another girl the pair had "adopted."

  • For the first time, Jacuzzi was actually happy, and he accidentally drank the elixir of life that happened.

  • However, when aliens invaded and things got even more dangerous, Jacuzzi's anxiety became painful to the point that he could no longer function and he had to move away.

  • Unfortunately, after a time, clones of the Dians (created in Locke in an event) found Jacuzzi, and in order to torment the original Dians, murdered him just before the world pretty much ended thanks to aliens.

History:
Jacuzzi Splot has lived two lives. The first during the early 1900s, during the Great Depression, the Prohibition and the chaos that surrounded them. During that life, he was a bootlegging gang leader who chose his life in order to do what he felt was right. He surrounded himself with society's untouchables and unwanted. His friends were immigrants, minorities, and/or physically intimidating. These friendships helped him to overcome impossible odds, fighting when he was outclassed and surviving what a man never should.

Until, you know, he died and everything.

That's where this Jacuzzi's life picks up. Jacuzzi was born to parents who never particularly wanted him. They expected certain things out of a child and he could never provide these things. Developing anxiety and asthma at a young age, Jacuzzi could never reach their standards. His father in particular, a corrupt Locke City cop, absolutely hated him and made it well known. Through nearly two decades of emotional abuse, Jacuzzi came to believe no one could love him like his parents did--no one else would ever put up with him. Combined with his anxiety, Jacuzzi could never succeed. He could barely pass his classes to begin with, and when he began to get echoes, he nearly failed completely for not showing up to class. How could he, with a giant tattoo covering half his face?

Things only went from bad to worse for Jacuzzi. At first, it was little memories of his last life. Then it was crimes. Then it was murder. His echoes weighed heavily on his shoulders, and even more as he knew his father was a member of the police force that had executed the Numbered--the people with echoes--for the crime of having these memories. After the city was attacked by a giant snake, Jacuzzi felt he had no choice but to be honest. His parents immediately kicked him out of their home.

With no one to turn to, Jacuzzi asked the network of Numbered for help. Isaac and Miria Dian, with whom he shared a past life, took him in. And for the first time in his life, Jacuzzi was really happy. Isaac and Miria became the unconditionally loving parents he had never had. He gained someone he saw as a sister. He began dating a girl who he'd loved in his last life and loved again now. At a party, he and his girlfriend were accidentally served the elixir of life and became effectively immortal. Everything was great.

Until aliens began to attack in earnest. The elixir of life didn't stop your body from dying. It put it back together afterward. Jacuzzi's anxiety returned, and began to physically destroy him. After asthma attacks that should have killed him and chest contractions that made doctors wary of heart attacks, Jacuzzi had to leave Locke City and the danger behind. With the danger, he also left the only family he ever knew.

Things were going well with Nice when they moved. Really well. Except for the imminent threat of alien invasion. But with the burden off his shoulders, Jacuzzi could at least survive. In a sense, then, it was merciful that clones of Isaac and Miria that had been created in Locke City in his absence came for him before the final invasion. Unknowing that the clones were very literally the antithesis of the couple that had taken him in (or that they were clones at all), Jacuzzi allowed them in, only to be murdered in his own home for no reason more than to taunt the original Isaac and Miria.

Personality:
In his original life (canon), Jacuzzi was defined by pretty much three things: crying, getting scared, and mustering reckless valor. There's a whole episode about it. Jacuzzi was the king of fears, being able to instantly fall apart at the suggestion of something bad happening. His tears were a constant source of mockery, as well. But when the going got tough riders of the train were being massacred, Jacuzzi stepped up and faced the Rail Tracer without a single tear. Most of that bravery came from the absurd loyalty Jacuzzi felt toward the people he loved. Constantly surrounded by outcasts like himself, Jacuzzi found himself able to survive by being their leader. He gave himself purpose caring for others.

Reborn in Locke City, Jacuzzi had no one else to care for. For the first nineteen years of his life, he was literally alone. This caused him to become a closed-off stuttering mess who could barely handle interaction with other humans. In his desires to earn the love of his parents, he focused on the one thing he could really live up to--morally just. Jacuzzi struggled much more than his preincarnation with the idea of lying, fighting and breaking the law. With his father as a police officer, he also grew a strong fear of breaking the law, as he spent much of his childhood being told if he messed up he'd face worse punishment than anyone else. In that way, his fears were even more crippling than the original Jacuzzi's. His fear of his parents, his father in particular, caused him to be an isolated outcast, with emptiness where the loyalty and love his gang gave him once was.

And prior to meeting the Dians, Jacuzzi's self-confidence was completely shot. After meeting them and coming to live with them, it became absolutely apparent that his timid inability to speak up only mattered when he had to defend himself. A little part of his original self came to exist again when he had to defend Isaac and Miria from Miria's emotionally abusive mother, and it only grew from there. By the time he left Locke City, Jacuzzi would have done anything for the couple, along with any number of his friends, whether it meant death or murder.

Out of the oppressive covering of his parents, Jacuzzi was able to actually function in society. Not as well as a normal person, but better than he ever had before. When he lived with Isaac and Miria, he grew confident and happy and offered a helping hand whenever he could. His fear and illness took backseat to his Dian-inspired helpfulness and good cheer. With their inspiration, Jacuzzi never quite entered the same space of absolute rage as he had in his prohibition life--he never killed anyone, and even knowing he had in his past life weighed on his shoulders.

In reality the biggest differences between Jacuzzi and his last life were a) the fact he grew up alone and thus became someone who was shyer than before. Just as easily attached to people, but shyer. and b) the fact that he had a stronger sense of morality than his prohibition counterpart ever did. This has left him closer to a normal human being than his preincarnation, but also less capable of surviving in an insane world like the world Locke City was a part of. It left him defenseless when Isaac and Miria's doppelgangers showed up. And it left him, at the moment of his death, glad that he no longer had to survive in a world when he'd been betrayed by the first and only people he'd ever really trusted. His change was both good and bad, but upon being given a second chance HE'LL AT LEAST BE EASIER TO PLAY THAN CANON JACUZZI.

Gem Considerations: Sunstone. The stone is focused around helping with fears, leadership, and turning negative energy into positive energy. This absolutely suits his transformation after living with the Dians. He knew no fear, was able to muster the ability to function, and saw all the negative things about him as maybe not so negative after all.

Power considerations:
List Three Powers You Would Like Your Character To Have:
  • STRENGTH INCREASING TEARS wherein the more Jacuzzi cries, the stronger he gets.

  • Forcefields

  • Shapeshifting

Summarize how would they be affected by the powercap present in Cosmographia, and how they would react to gaining power.

Sample: IT'S THE PROPER AU THIS TIME.

AU/PG/CANON/OC: Baccano! Anime Canon

Key Points:

... Oh jesus I'm sorry. A short list of bullet points to go over anything Baccano!. It's either gonna make no sense or it's gonna be wordy I am so sorry it's the best I can do.

- This isn't history, but it is something you need to keep in mind when thinking about Jacuzzi: He's really, really anxious. He has a serious problem and will burst into tears at the slightest provocation.

- His best friend accidentally blew herself up when they were kids leaving serious scarring and taking out one of her eyes, and Jacuzzi got a tattoo on his face so she wouldn't feel alone and so that she'd always be able to find him even with her remaining damaged eye.

- At some point he started a gang of bootleggers because he thought the prohibition was bullshit. You go Jacuzzi. Stick it to the man.

- His gang wound up on Russo turf in Chicago and the Russos would have none of this and so they killed Kenny. Jacuzzi retaliated by taking out eighteen Russo speakeasies in one night.

- ... Time to leave town! Jacuzzi, his girlfriend Nice (the scarred one I mentioned earlier), and two members of their gang, Nick and Donnie, book a ride on this super fancy train called the Flying Pussyfoot to New York. There's bombs on it and they're gonna steal them for various reasons I promise Jacuzzi is the good guy of this story.

- The conductor's dead and the train gets hijacked, by three separate groups. One of them is Nick. He immediately un-hijacks the train because the other groups brought guns. Jacuzzi steps in and essentially fights off one group!

- They make it to New York alive but uh. Jacuzzi is pretty badly injured.

- ... Baccano!

History:
WHY DO YOU ASK THIS OF ME.

When Jacuzzi was a kid, his best friend blew half her face off and he got a tattoo on his own face to make her feel less alone. Then he and Nice ran off to start their own gang. It attracted all sorts of "unwanted" people who weren't "welcome" in the idea of mainstream America. This gang bootlegged alcohol during the Prohibition Era, which got them in trouble with a legit mafia family--the Russos. After a member of their gang is killed, Jacuzzi retaliates personally by attacking eighteen of their speakeasies in one night and he, Nice, and a couple of their friends flee Chicago traveling to New York on the Flying Pussyfoot, which is a luxury train.

On board the train, they plan to steal a large shipment of explosives traveling toward New York and resell them. Nice and Jacuzzi meet Isaac Dian and Miria Harvent, who tell Jacuzzi the story of the Rail Tracer, an urban legend that explains said monster will come and kill everyone on the train. The pair don't remember how to stop the monster and say the conductor told them how. Jacuzzi, in a panic, flees the car to find the conductor. His friends follow. While they're gone the train is hijacked by the Lemures and a group of goons led by Ladd Russo.

Jacuzzi finds the conductor dead and after finding out the train has been hijacked, he panics more! With the support and help of Isaac, Miria and his gang, he however eventually confronts the leader of the Lemures and battles him on the roof of the train. After he survives that encounter, he faces off with what he believes is the Rail Tracer (but is really Claire Stanfield, the young conductor of the train who killed a man coming to kill him and left his body, which Jacuzzi mistook for the actual conductor's body). His plan is to blow both himself and the Rail Tracer sky high with one of Nice's bombs. However, the Rail Tracer ends things calmly and disappears.

When they make it into New York City, Jacuzzi is badly injured and rests in the care of the Genoards, another crime family. Along with the members of his gang, he has also taken in a mute woman from the Lemures, Chane, who Claire Stanfield fell in love with during that whole train hijacking. Mistaken for the daughter of the Genoards on a walk, Chane is kidnapped by Graham Specter, who demands ransom. Jacuzzi turns himself in to be turned in to the Russos for the bounty on his head. However, Claire Stanfield comes in and there is eventually a peaceful resolution.

Personality:
It is impossible for me to start this application with anything other than "Jacuzzi is the kind of boy to cry, get scared and muster reckless valor." Which is directly from the show and the entire title of an episode. The boy is a terrible coward, surrounded by brave, smart and strong individuals who likely flank to him just because he's an idiot with bold ideas who can't get them done alone. Jacuzzi is a ballsy individual, at his core. He's defiant, too, with strong ideals and beliefs and is afraid of nothing, just as he is afraid of everything. All it depends on is what he's approaching the situation for.

When it comes to his friends, Jacuzzi is loyal and determined, compassionate to a fault, and ruthless and unforgiving toward anyone who wishes them harm. The deaths of his friends in Chicago pushed him into facing against an incredibly powerful mob family--robbing and shooting out something like eighteen of their speakeasies--completely alone. And this is only one of many similar occurrences in his story. He risks his life for his friends, his girlfriend, just met friends, and a train full of strangers on a regular basis. Maybe this is what draws people to him. Maybe not. He's a terrible leader at most points, but when the going gets tough, Jacuzzi stands his ground and really proves himself as the leader of his gang of delinquents--and the ballsiest kid around. Jacuzzi is the sort to really appreciate those around him. He seems to feel for the most part worthless, nothing special, so he understands the value of the friends he's acquired. Maybe that's also the reason he's willing to give anyone a chance. Chane, for instance, was a member of the group in the Flying Pussyfoot that nearly killed Jacuzzi. He is well aware of this, but he gives Chane a chance as a friend--and more than that, when he hears she's been kidnapped for ransom his first act is to turn himself in to the kidnapper so they can turn him in for a cash reward on his head. He's compassionate and caring and really and honestly wants to help others, even if he has to do a lot of illegal things on the way there. He's selfless in that way--he'll throw himself under a bus in the name of making things a little better. Jacuzzi never thinks of himself first. He is willing to take even an enemy and consider them a loyal friend. He has unshakable faith in everyone around him once he has decided they're wort his time. If from no one else, this inspires insane levels of loyalty from Nice, and if nothing else, the rest of the gang follows her completely. Their response to Jacuzzi's kidnapping and "don't follow me" are, of course, to follow him and blow a hole in a wall to save him.

The bravery and compassion and selflessness at Jacuzzi's core is of course offset by his extreme levels of cowardice. Pretty much everything terrifies him, from silly urban legends to a pair of strangers on a train. And when I say terrifies, I do mean to tears. He cringes at the slightest provocation and even his smiles make him look like a puppy that's been kicked one to many times. He apologizes for every move and cries at every scare. He tells Nice late in the series that his reason for never stopping himself for crying is that when the time came that he would face something really terrible, he'd be all out of tears. And that seemed very true, as he faced possibly the biggest bad in the anime and his own untimely neardeath without flinching.

In a show about special people and immortals, Jacuzzi Splot shines as the most normal of them all, and on several occasions, he outbadasses them all. Jacuzzi is sincere and honest and his kindness might leave him with a lot of losses, as Nice points out, but he gains a lot of friends from it. Nice is his other half and the calm to his anxious. She seems like she's in control, and maybe she is, but Jacuzzi is the one who she looks to. But she's also his anchor--the person who keeps him firmly on his feet, while he keeps her from causing too much damage.

Of course, despite his badass and his crying and his loyalty, there is one very important factor about Jacuzzi Splot: He's a goddamn moron. He's been with Nice for ten years and didn't kiss her until the incident on the train. He lives by incredibly flawed logic. He ignores his own injuries to be a Big Damn Hero. He's comic relief fairly often throughout the series, falling into slapstick gags and his gullibility is pathetic.

In the end, though, the most important part of Jacuzzi is the fact that in the story of Baccano!, he's a hero. Is that when shown alongside immortals, the mafia, the camorra, the Rail Tracer and even unnatural beings (like demons and homunculi), Jacuzzi still shines, despite being completely normal. He doesn't need those advantages to play his part. He does it all with a good heart, that's all.

Gem Considerations:
I think Tiger's Eye suits him the best of the ones I saw? While the site you guys us doesn't list it as a primary quality, courage is something I see in every site about Tiger's Eye, and that's probably Jacuzzi's best and most important feature. The proper use of power, will, and integrity are all important parts of his personality and story as well, both in his failures and his successes. Since they're all important traits he has, but none that he's perfected, I think the gem will suit him well, as it's supposed to assist in said traits.

The stone would be round and in the center of his chest, at the location of the heart chakra. The heart chakra is all about our usefulness to others, which is how Jacuzzi functions. He doesn't see himself, but he sees everyone around him as amazing people who are all worthy of care, respect and protection.

Power considerations:
List Three Powers You Would Like Your Character To Have:
  • So I am interested in him being able to summon a weapon, specifically a gun? Mostly because I think it would be funny because at one point Isaac told him that he had a gun in his heart.

  • Shapeshifting

  • Some kind of shield wouldn't be awful

Don't give Jacuzzi powers. (Please don't listen to me.) He has none in canon for a reason. No matter what he gets he's going to panic and think long and hard about the implications. This will lead to more panic and then determination to be useful to others with it???

Sample: I understand if this can't be used because it's old

I understand if this can't be used because it's an AU

I understand if this can't be used because it's too short

But I'm hoping that maybe the three of them together can prove that I can play Jacuzzi Splot decently well and that I have a handle on his motivations and voice.

Because I suck at writing samples but if you really want I also have this which is set in a different game. But is a third person sample that I used to get into said game.

Name: Jacuzzi Splot
Info: Entering his second year of college, Jacuzzi has been kicked out of his home. He lived with Isaac and Miria for a few months, but now lives with Nice Holystone. Jacuzzi has a severe anxiety disorder and cries often from it, panicking all the time. Since his tattoo arrived, Jacuzzi has lived a life of complete confusion, struggling to deal with the fact that in his last life he was most definitely a delinquent, gang leader and bootlegger.

Echoes:
→ While traveling on a train in the dining compartment, Jacuzzi is bumped by a small child who stares at his tattoo in awe, causing him to choke on his food and apologize for pretty much no reason.
→ This causes Jacuzzi's sword tattoo on his face to reappear. (Initial)
→ The ugly-as-sin brownish orange vest he is constantly wearing. (Christmas)
→ The memory of being beaten up by Russo goons in a back alley in Chicago, 1931. This includes finding out he ransacked 18 mafia speakeasies in one night in revenge for the Russo family killing some of his friends, that he's the leader of a small gang that bootlegs alcohol, and the gang rescuing him from getting totally murdered. It is also apparent his past life's girlfriend was sexually attracted to explosives. No. Really. (Being mugged)
→ The memory of turning himself in to Graham Specter in exchange for letting Chane go free. (Isaac and Miria giving him a speech in a dingy warehouse.)
→ The memory of Isaac and Miria's, uh, inspiring speech. (Isaac and Miria giving him a speech in a dingy warehouse.)
→ The memory of the night he got his tattoo--knocking on a severely injured Nice's window, saying he got it so that she wouldn't be alone, and making her cry with happiness (and apologizing for making her cry at all). (Making people he cares about [Isaac and Miria] cry accidentally)
→ The memory of Czeslaw Meyer's introduction. (Talking with Ben.)
→ His obnoxious accent. (Vegas lights)
→ The memory of Nice and the gang showing up when he turned himself in to Graham. (Isaac and Miria putting themselves in harm's way for him)
→ The Tommy Gun he used to shoot up the Russo speakeasies. (Item monster)
→ The memory of the story of the Rail Tracer as told by Isaac and Miria. (Alien broadcast)
→ Ten thousand USD, from his gang selling bombs. (Rampaging car)
→ Nice and Jacuzzi's first kiss on the Flying Pussyfoot. (Kissing Nice)
→ The memory of the final showdown against the Rail Tracer. (Aurora)
→ Jacuzzi's resolve--to cry whenever he feels like it so at the hardest times, when he wants to cry the most, he'll be all out of tears. (Vermini)
→ The memory of the night he shot up 18 speakeasies. (Mafia)

IC Information:
Name: Jacuzzi Splot, which I am keeping because he is the most unfortunate soul
Canon and medium: Baccano! (Anime)
Age: 16 or 19 depending on where you get your information [reincarnated age: 19]
Preincarnation Species: Human
Preincarnation Appearance: Average in every way. Messy brown hair, kind of short, brown eyes. Sword tattoo. wow. such gifs. very jacuzzi
Any differences: No sword tattoo, and his hair is a little (little being the keyword) more presentable.
Preincarnated History: What didn't happen to Jacuzzi Splot in canon? That is to say there is no real spot to start when it comes to telling his story. No, seriously, this is the point of canon: the story can start wherever the hell it wants to. What's important? What isn't? What background is necessary? Who is the main character?

Starting chronologically is best I suppose because otherwise there will be a ton of tangents.

>Jacuzzi is an anxious motherfucker and appears to have been an anxious motherfucker his entire life. He cries at the slightest provocation. Also any time he enters a scene.
>Jacuzzi's girlfriend blows up her face when they're children in a chemical accident because she is a bomb freak. She remains a bomb freak, except now with one eye and a bunch of awful scars all over her torso, arms and face. This is only 40% important to his story. Because of this, Jacuzzi tattoos a sword on his face. This is important because he has a giant, very visible, easily recognizable sword tattoo on his face. (He does it because a) it makes it easier for girlfriend-san (Nice, which is pronounced niece. Narita get your shit together) to recognize him and 2) because she wouldn't be the only one standing out then.)
>The prohibition was a thing. Because he doesn't like it and thinks it's stupid he starts bootlegging alcohol. This is a fabulous plan because it's not like the fucking mob had a hold on alcohol production or anything that totally isn't a thing.
>Somehow Jacuzzi despite being a crybaby gets himself a gang???????????? How it happened, we just don't know. (Well we sort of do but Jesus, it's unlikely.)
>So remember how I said the mob totally isn't cornering the market on booze? Yeah that was a huge lie. Because of it, the Russo family targets Jacuzzi's little gang and kills some of his dear friends. (They killed Kenny, by the way, and that never ceases to make me laugh.)
>In return, Jacuzzi gets himself a gun and robs a cubic shit ton of the Russo's speakeasies. Like almost 20. In one day. Thanks to that, the Russos are really super mega after Jacuzzi. So it's time for him to bow out of Chicago for a little bit.
>At some point they found out about some explosives on a train. So they're like YEAH LET'S STEAL THE BOMBS. LET'S GET ON THE TRAIN, STEAL THE BOMBS AND OLLIE OUT. By they I do mean his explosives otaku gf.
(TANGENT 1: The bombs are being transported by a two hundred year old ten year old.)
(TANGENT 2: Oh by the way some of the characters in this series are immortal. It's a thing. Jacuzzi isn't one.)
>SO THEY'RE LIKE YEAH LET'S GO GET INFORMATION and I also forgot to mention members of his gang are working the kitchen to help him out ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
>And they meet up with these two dumbasses named Isaac and Miria and shit happens like seriously when doesn't shit happen around Isaac and Miria.
>NO THEY HAVE TO GIVE HIM PANIC ATTACKS OVER THE LEGEND OF THE RAIL TRACER SO HE RUNS OFF AND THEN THE FUCKING DINING COMPARTMENT GETS TRIPLE HIJACKED
>TRIPLE
>HIJACKED
>The third one was accidentally by Jacuzzi's gang oops ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Nick is a fuck up.
>SO JACUZZI'S LIKE OH MAN GOTTA STOP THE RAIL TRACER. THE CONDUCTOR KNOWS HOW TO STOP IT.
(TANGENT 3: THE RAIL TRACER IS A MONSTER THAT KILLS EVERYONE ON THE TRAINS IT HIJACKS. SPOILERS: THE RAIL TRACER IS CLAIRE.)
(TANGENT 4: CLAIRE IS A SUPER MEGA ASSASSIN WHO'S BFFS WITH FIRO AND THE GANDORS. HE IS ALSO ASSISTANT TO THE CONDUCTOR OR W/E)
(TANGENT 5: FIRO IS A DUDE WHO EXISTS IN BACCANO. HE'S SUPER IMPORTANT, BUT NOT TO JACUZZI. THE GANDORS ARE MOB, THEY'RE SUPER IMPORTANT, BUT NOT TO JACUZZI.)
>WHUPS THE CONDUCTOR IS DEAD WHUPS. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
>A wild series of mishaps appears! Jacuzzi finds out the train has been hijacked! He decides to unhijack it (starting with Nick what the fuck man stop hijacking trains who told you to do that.)
>This all pushes forward to... somehow crying anxiety-ridden Jacuzzi Splot faces off against one of the parties that hijacked the train. There's a flamethrower involved! He is pretty sure he's gonna die but he doesn't. Sweet. Mostly because his girlfriend stashes a bomb in her empty eyesocket THAT'S NOT GROSS OR UNSANITARY OR ANYTHING. And she gave it to him earlier. But he gets shot and stabbed and stuff.
>So then he's like WELP TIME TO GO FACE THE RAIL TRACER. And he's about to sacrifice himself to take the monster out, and he gives this whole speech about crying.
>But the Claire's like "naw, dawg. ur good."
>And then they get to Manhattan!
>BUT THE OVA'S A THING. And Jacuzzi's tending to his injuries and shit and hanging with the Genoards who are another crime family w/e, w/e. And he's chillin' with one of the hijackers named Chane or w/e who they fished out of the river with the bombs.
>And Chane got kidnapped because of misunderstanding ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
>And Jacuzzi came to turn himself in in trade and his gang is a bunch of loyal morons.
>Yeah basically Jacuzzi is a fucking moron who does too much for being a whiny crybaby.
>So he turns himself in but in the end everything comes to a mostly-peaceful resolution after his gf blows her way into a warehouse literally five feet from a wide-open door.
> ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ is the best way to describe Jacuzzi's gang js.

Reincarnated History: Jacuzzi Splot is a poor unfortunate soul. An asthmatic with Generalized Anxiety Disorder, pushy parents and no real talent or smarts to speak of, his life is the perfect mixture of "oh god please help" to mentally tax a kid to tears. Which it did, back in high school. He seems emotionally fragile, mostly because he is. He didn't do too well because of the pressure, and his lack of skills in sports or extracurriculars didn't score him any points with universities. The only bright spot in his life is that the bigger, stronger, smarter kids just felt too bad for him to make his life hell. Still, poor grades and poor everything else landed him in community college.

College is doing no better for him. He lives in a little student housing place that he barely manages to stop from setting on fire, mostly because he can't cook and his roommate's friends don't know how to put out a cigarette. His luck is atrocious. His first semester algebra class was taught by someone with such a thick accent he couldn't understand, leading to severe failure. His student ID was stolen and the thief used his entire meal plan for the week. His laundry was stolen from the machines and never returned. His room was under the loudest, most sexually active couple in the dorm. Also his window leaked. And wifi never worked in his room so he had to do his homework in the common room which was always packed. Crowds give him panic attacks. He can never find his inhaler. His roommate is a stoner and once put his anxiety medication in a cereal box and they didn't find it for two weeks. Poor kid is so boned.

First Echo: While eating lunch mostly unassumingly, by himself, Jacuzzi will take a bite from his sandwich! All goes as planned as the sandwich is the normal quality of a sandwich and does not have anything weird in it. That is, until he is bumped in the back by a kid rushing to class, causing him to choke mid-swallow, struggling to get it down and answer the kid asking him if he's okay.

This will cause an echo of an incredibly similar memory--except instead of being alone at a cafeteria table, he's with a group of friends (a strangely dressed man and woman, and a girl covered in burn scars), at the bar of an incredibly fancy train. And instead of a college freshman on the way to a finals cram session, he's been bumped by a ten-year-old kid, who stares at him and the girl with the scars for a moment, shocked by his features--which in this memory, are marred by a sword-shaped tattoo.

A tattoo that reincarnated!Jacuzzi now totally has as a result of this echo, and he will notice the next time he gets a glimpse of himself in a mirror.

Preincarnation Personality: It is impossible for me to start this application with anything other than "Jacuzzi is the kind of boy to cry, get scared and muster reckless valor." Which is directly from the show and the entire title of an episode.

Any differences: Jacuzzi's real deviations from his canon counterpart are going to lie in his ability to connect with others. In canon he is fantastic at it, probably because everyone just gives up and realizes that if they don't side with him this kid is gon' die. There is also the fact that in canon, Jacuzzi has a lot of chances to prove himself and his devotion to those around him. Whether it is being by standing up for his gang against, you know, the fucking mafia, or turning himself in for a reward in exchange for a new friend, Jacuzzi has had limitless opportunity to prove himself.

There is also the fact that here and now, Jacuzzi does not have Nice. This changes a lot about him, but mostly his self-confidence. It's even lower than before. That isn't to say his confidence in others is any lower--he's pretty sure everything will turn out well, and he has unwavering faith in his classmates and others. He just doesn't see himself as someone of any worth, mostly due to his suffocating, disappointed parents. The lack of Nice in his life also robs him of the grounding necessary for him to really put his best foot forward and be brave as hell. With no one to muster reckless valor for in the first place, Jacuzzi is far more complacent reincarnated.

Abilities: Um.

Jacuzzi has pretty much literally nothing.

I want to believe I'm exaggerating but he seriously has nothing.

Except maybe rock hard determination? Is that an ability?

Roleplay Sample - Third Person: Jacuzzi taps his fingers on the desk, chewing on the top of his pen absent-mindedly. He stares at the screen of his battered old laptop, trying not to catch a glimpse of his reflection. This paper is due tomorrow and he can't afford any distractions. It is finals week. If he bombs this, he will fail the entire course. He can't let this bother him, he can't. Even though it's already very visibly bothering him.

He hasn't been to class in a week. His parents have called and asked him how it's been and he's had to lie every time, but it's really not because he's lazy or anything. He just can't handle more questions. He has no idea how to answer them, anyway. It isn't like he changed his look on purpose. It just happened! He glances at the time at the bottom corner and he's only got half an hour left to finish two more pages. He's doomed. Absolutely doomed. Maybe if he emails the professor that he's sick, he can get an extension.

He wonders if, when he goes home for break next week, he can pass it off as a rebellious streak. But he wonders, then, if anyone would buy him having a rebellious bone in his body for something so dumb and permanent. He over-thought everything. That's why he was the way he was, right? He could test out excuses on his roommate, but he has a feeling the kid would buy anything anyone told him if he was high enough. That's not much of a feat.

Dropping the pen and any guise of working, he lowers his head into his hands, rubbing his hair with frustration. This is useless and hopeless and as he glances at his phone, he gets a good look at his reflection. The tattoo--the crudely designed sword--is still there and he bites his tongue but he can't help it, the nerves and anxiety welling up in his chest, and the tears in his eyes and he covers his face with his hands and sobs.

Name: Jacuzzi Splot
Age: Late teens
Fandom: Baccano! (Anime)
Appearance:
Jacuzzi mostly looks like a rather unremarkable American teenager. He's got messy brown hair, and brown eyes and light skin. His posture is generally lacking, and he slouches often. Sure, he's got a weird taste in fashion (boy, what are you wearing, is that a plaid vest and a cummerbund???) but it's the 1930s. We can't all run around in fancy suits, especially when you're a criminal and all. And he makes some weird faces, too. He's perfectly unremarkable.

Oh except for that sword tattoo on the left side of his face. But, yeah, that's it.

look at this cutie isn't he adorable

History: His tiny itty bitty section in the characters wiki ; Baccano! wiki
Canon Point: After hearing the story of the Rail Tracer and dashing off.
Personality:
Jacuzzi Splot is a crybaby. No way around it, he cries sometimes. A lot. Almost always. This is a kid you can't expect much from. Or so a lot of people would think.

Jacuzzi Splot is the bravest coward in the world. Almost everything terrifies him, and when I say terrifies, I mean it's enough to make the poor kid cry. He cringes at the slightest provocation, and even his smiles look like he's afraid someone's going to hit him. It's almost pathetic, really. The kid's got some severe anxiety issues, leaving him apologizing for every move and crying at every scare.

It's hard to believe he's co-leader of a gang of bootleggers during the prohibition that took down 18 mafia speakeasies in one night. Or that he's got a small army of people who will come and beat the shit out of you if you fuck with him. Or that Jacuzzi--with no delusions like Claire, no immortality like Czes, no training like Chane, no guns like half the goddamn train, no... whatever you want to call it that Isaac and Miria have--manages to out badass every single person in the series.

Jacuzzi is nothing if not sincere. It's obvious how he feels, more so than any character I've ever seen. When he's upset, he cries. When he's happy, he smiles. And when he's worried, he voices it. There's something about a sincerity like that that has to be based in goodness. Jacuzzi is always full of the best of intentions. He might get scared, but he always does his best to do what he thinks is right. If it means getting a tattoo on his face for his scarred girlfriend, he'll do it. If it means trying to protect someone actively hurting him, he'll do it. If it means taking out mafia territory in revenge for his dead eight friends, he will fucking do it.

If it means turning himself in for a ransom, he'll do that too. And that's where the draw to the kid comes from. Jacuzzi's sincerity extends to how much he cares about people. When he believes someone is good, there's no changing his mind. He'll care about that person, and do so with more honesty than you'd think someone so easily scared could manage. When it comes to matters of friendship, Jacuzzi never thinks about himself. Nice says it always leaves him at a loss, but it also leaves him with a lot of friends to back him up.

And it's true. Jacuzzi's gang really cares about him. Later in the series, when Chane is held for ransom and Jacuzzi goes to turn himself in, the members of the gang who are in New York with him all show up after him, despite the note saying that he should come alone and his insistence that he has to. When reminded of this fact, they all respond without blinking that they came alone, too. In a show of the closeness of the group, Jacuzzi notices that one of their number is not a normal member of the gang just by his voice. Jacuzzi's gang of bootleggers? Yeah, they're close.

Jacuzzi's balanced out by his partner and co-leader of the gang, Nice Holystone. Where he's timid and scared, she's more outgoing and adventurous, with a fondness of things that could blow things sky high even after her accident that left her covered in scars. No matter how incompatible the pair might seem, they work better together than apart. She keeps him on his feet and he keeps her from getting arrested.

In all his timid nature and easily scared life, Jacuzzi still has the potential in him to be a brave motherfucker. In a show with a full cast of badasses, there are moments when Jacuzzi out badasses them all. He fights a man with a flame thrower on top of a train yielding only a single cherry bomb that comes out of his girlfriend's eye socket Nice why oh god why. He faces the Rail Tracer only moments later, severely injured, sure the monster was going to kill him, without batting an eyelash. And he turns himself over to be given to the Russo family, who wants him not only dead, but painfully dead, in order to save Chane Laforet, who he's barely known a few days. He can summon more courage in him in a second than most people can summon in their whole lives.

Courage and cowardice aside, there's one thing that's constant about Jacuzzi Splot: He's a complete and total derp. He and Nice have been a thing for ten years and he still hasn't kissed her. His philosophy on crying is something most people could never understand: he cries whenever he feels like crying so when he faces a day he needs to be brave, he'll have run out of tears and he can face it head on. When he realizes he's cried too much, he says he's cried for Nice as well, so she won't have to cry when she's sad. He ignores injuries trying to be a Big Damn Hero in the OVA but even then still shakes with fear. He's a comic relief more often than he's not. When Claire reveals himself as the Rail Tracer, Jacuzzi is so startled he falls over. The kid's a dork, plain and simple. But despite being powerless in a world full of immortals, being afraid of everything, and being a bootlegging criminal, Jacuzzi manages pretty well to play the part of a hero.

Game Specific

Suitability:
Poor kid might seem weak as hell, emotionally and physically, but Jacuzzi's resilient. More than that, he can be pretty damn ballsy when he tries. When the Russo family killed his friends, Jacuzzi busted up eighteen of their speakeasies. In one night. And though he's from before this point in canon, he faces a man with a flamethrower trying to kill him on the roof of a train with nothing more than a cherrybomb. And right after that? He faces the Rail Tracer without any sign of fear.
Jacuzzi's a brave little fucker. As TV Tropes once said, he manages to out badass everyone in a show full of badasses. Don't mess with him.

Weapon:
Matching the design of the tattoo on his face, Jacuzzi will be equipped with a Flamberge (blah blah blah proper terminology one of these things). To make sure he's actually able to use it, it's only going to be a rapier. It's a formidable weapon when used properly.

Too bad he doesn't know how.

But that's okay, because Jacuzzi doesn't need weapons. He's got a gun in his heart.

... No, that's a lie, he needs this thing. The cool thing about a Flamberge is that when used properly, it can send vibrations through an opponent's weapon. According to wikipedia anyway. Jacuzzi's got two features that comes with his sword. The more afraid he is, the stronger these vibrations are, so when he strikes someone or something, the blow can possibly send what it connects with shaking like a cartoon character that's just been trapped in a giant, ringing bell.

Samples

Log/Third Person Sample:
Santa Destroy was terrifying enough just by existing. Even without the ranked fights, the UAA and the fact someone was always watching them, the place set Jacuzzi on edge. Why? Well, to start with, it wasn't home. Jacuzzi didn't so much miss any specific place.... but he missed his friends, definitely. He missed waking up to a house full of people he could trust and who'd tease him about his anxiety. He missed the familiarity of the 1930s. Technology had never been this advanced back home. Most of it floored him--this place. He didn't care so much that he was living in an abandoned house, he didn't care at all that every day was a struggle and any guy on the street could be a mugger. He was used to that. It barely passed as a thought in his head, aside from a brief worry if he was out alone at night. He minded that the house was mostly empty.

The dangers of the city itself, people aside, didn't bother him. Walking across the beach was like walking around any room where Nice had set up shop. All he had to do was be careful where he stepped, or he'd have more identifying markings than his tattoo. He'd gotten used to explosives everywhere in the last ten years. Maybe it was strange to be afraid of everything except for the stuff that shanks you or blows you up.

The idea of betraying anybody he met made the place ten times worse. Jacuzzi wasn't the kind of guy who that kind of thing would sit well with. You didn't just turn on people. The idea of turning on anybody made him sick to his stomach. The idea of being betrayed--something that he did his best to avoid, that most people wouldn't even think of just because it was Jacuzzi--left him shaking. (Then again, what didn't?)

He didn't like this place. He didn't like it's rules. He didn't like having to hurt anyone that hadn't hurt him or his friends first. All he knew was that he had to stop it. If it meant getting to the top, if it meant waiting at the bottom, if it meant seeking the UAA out of his own accord, he'd do it.

... Even if it scared him to tears.
