Welcome to GunnHaX!

GunnHaX is the tenth iteration of Gunn High School’s annual, student-run hackathon, running from January 27th to January 28th, 2024. Due to district guidelines, only PAUSD students are eligible to attend.

We emphasize learning through doing, and welcome students regardless of programming experience. Mentors, workshops, activities, and swag will be provided!

Requirements

Hackers must submit a public link to their code (ie. GitHub/GitLab/Replit). Hackers will then give a roughly 3 minute presentation to a panel of judges.

Judges

Judging Criteria

  • Technical Difficulty
Is the hack technically interesting or difficult? Is it just some lipstick on an API, or were there real technical challenges to surmount? This is the most important criterion that your hack will be judged upon for the general prizes.
  • Practicality
Is the hack practical? Is it something people would actually use? Does it fulfill a real need people have?
  • Creativity
Is the hack more than just another generic social/mobile/local app? Does it do something entirely novel, or at least take a fresh approach to an old problem?
  • User Experience
Is the hack polished? Is it free of bugs, easy and straightforward to use, and/or aesthetically pleasing? Was there effort put into the hack dedicated to improving the end-user experience?
