We are thrilled to announce the winners of both tracks:

Business Innovation Track:

  • Winner: S.L.A.P. - Taking home the grand prize of $2,000! This team wowed the judges with their Student Local Adaptation Program, designed to connect skilled students with local businesses for mentorship in essential digital skills.

  • 1st Runner-Up (Tie):

    • BizElevate - Awarded $1,250 for their AI-powered mentorship platform that provides personalized guidance and support to business owners.
    • SentriBiz - Also receiving $1,250 for their innovative AI-powered security advisor that delivers customized cybersecurity recommendations to small businesses.
  • 3rd Runner-Up: Horizon - Earning $500 for their student-driven mentorship model aimed at empowering small businesses in digital adoption.

Sustainability Track:

  • Winner: Eco-scan - Awarded $2,000 for their innovative approach to PPE recycling, combining technology and behavioral prompts to encourage proper disposal.

  • 1st Runner-Up: Blockchain for Plastics - Taking home $1,500 for their system that uses computer vision and blockchain technology to improve traceability and trust within the plastic recycling industry.

  • 2nd Runner-Up: Waste Classification - Earning $1,000 for their machine learning and computer vision solution that automates the sorting of used PPE for recycling.

  • 3rd Runner-Up: RePlastify - Awarded $500 for their subscription-based recycling system focused on PPE and plastic-based packaging.

  • 500+ project drafts started
  • 70 completed projects submitted before official due date!
  • 20 projects advanced to the qualifier and semi-finals where they recieved mentoring and written feedbacks!
  • 8 teams competing in the live global finals!
  • 35+ TiE mentors across 7 countries dedicating on average up to 4 hours in provide critical project feedback.
  • 18 Industry judges from 4 global time zones rated the live presentations and scoring the top teams!

This season has truly exemplified the power of student innovation and global collaboration.

TiE U Hackathon is essentially a hackathon, with a twist! 

Student Innovation Showcase: Celebrate Ingenuity

A gathering of college students & teams organized to address specifically defined global challenges!

Students using a fast-paced ‘hackathon” methodology will be introduced to a global issue by subject matter experts. Students will choose a challenge to address, receive mentoring and feedback in generating an app showcase and integrated solutions, and present their app ideas to a set of judges for cash awards and recognition!

After students work together brainstorming, planning, and prototyping an app showcase, they will create a presentation that they’ll pitch to a panel of judges during the showcase. The event concludes with the recognition of students and a celebration of all participants!

So at the TiE U Hack@thon, you can do anything from design an app and showcase your ingenuity by making something uniquely creative based on a given theme of Sustainability Innovation and Business Innovation.  Teams can consist of 2-4 members, and you have till 30-Oct at 9:30am EDT / 7pm IST to create something amazingly unique!

Hackathons, like the TiE U Hack@thon, are a can’t-miss experience! You can learn something new, make something that the world has never seen before, and win some fantastic cash prizes!
