Challenge Statement
Navigating the demands of college life as an undergraduate student in a city presents numerous challenges, often accompanied by stress and the desire for solutions that can significantly enhance our daily experiences. In response to this, we challenge you to create a website or application tailored to improve and elevate various facets of the college experience. Possible areas of focus are transportation, food security, time management, and many more. Your innovative solution should not only address these challenges but strive to make a lasting impact, offering tangible improvements that resonate with the unique needs of urban-dwelling undergraduates.

Automate my life. Find a creative and novel way to fully automate something in my (or your) daily life, so that it will save time and effort throughout the week.
There's just never enough time in the week, right? So I want to throw off the shackles of having to do something manually, to save me some much needed time.
You may automate pretty much anything, so long as you can justify the time savings in my day/week. Come by our table or catch us walking around and we can discuss your ideas!
Amandus UI/UX
Individuals diagnosed with Lupus often face added stress due to the seriousness of their health condition. This heightened stress can result in occasional lapses in their daily medication regimen, which is a vital aspect of maintaining their health.
Keeping this in mind, envision a gamified mobile app with progressive achievement levels aimed at motivating and supporting those diagnosed with Lupus to adhere to their daily medication regimen. In this creative endeavor, prioritize the visual design above the technical intricacies required for app development. Our focus is on a compassionate, user-centric design that is aesthetically pleasing and memorable. You have full creative freedom with this challenge but draw inspiration from the Lupus Foundation's existing identity system (such as the color purple and butterflies) and the captivating elements of mobile apps and games is encouraged.
Although not mandatory, incorporating prototyping and animations could enhance the presentation of interaction within your design. This app could be constructed using cross-platform tools like Figma, Flutter, React Native, or other similar applications.

Best Use of AI in Education
Artificial Intelligence (AI) models, such as large language models (LLMs), are transforming how we interact with computers. During this weekend's hackathon, we want you to apply AI towards improving education to produce tools that support the quality, accessibility, and equitability of learning in today's classrooms. You can use AI to address any challenge teachers and students face, such as curriculum planning, question selection, teacher training, content generation, personalized feedback, automated grading and more.
For this challenge, we encourage you to draw on your own educational experiences and propose technical solutions to problems you've regularly encountered as students — after all, you are the best to know where our education system needs improvement. Design impactful and effective AI tools for education for a chance to win a TickTime Pomodoro Timer!
To give you some inspiration, we're sharing some educational and technical resources:
This list of the most pressing issues educational leaders have around AI
An introduction to the emerging field of Learning Engineering
A map of AI in education
A recent competition series using LLMs for automated essay evaluation
WIN: TickTime Pomodoro Timer
