Everyone knows that, in days of ol’, Pembroke Welsh Corgis were the steeds of Faeries, as evidenced by the pale “saddle marks” across their shoulders. The pairs would cavort about the Welsh countryside, shaking their heads at the crude efforts of humans and chasing after Red Dragons, which were then plentiful and nuisance-y.

But it is a little-known fact that Cardigan Welsh Corgis were the chosen familiars of the Faerie Elite.  The elite favored Cardigans because their flavor of magic, whimsical and potent, enhanced their own abilities.  In addition the Dragons, fearing the worst, asked Cardigans if they could hide in their shadows if need be, and sleep a long sleep until humans tamed themselves.

The Dragons are alseep. The Fae Folk are mostly gone. The dogs remain, partly because they took a sidelong glace at people and their machines and decided to hitch their wagons to the more invasive species.  Sorry, Faeries.
