Santa Clause Came to Town!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! Around the Nelson home we had a great holiday weekend and a fantastic Christmas surrounded by those we love. We spent Christmas Eve seeing a movie (We bought a Zoo) with my family and then headed off to the annual Nelson Family Christmas Eve Party and had a great time. Like usual Grandma Terry buys the best gifts and the gift exchange was a lot of fun. Blakely came away with a ride on car which she loves. I am fond of it because we needed a more boy looking toy around here with all the pink and dolls.

After the party we headed home so we could start our Christmas Prep. We opened up our Christmas Jammies, started taking pictures, got cookies set out for Santa and that is when little B lost it! I hope to have the video posted this week because it is too good not to post. Blakely put two and two together that tonight was the night that the man whom we call Santa, that she does not care for, would be coming to her house! She started balling and say, "No Santa my house, Santa Bye bye, I'm Scared satnta, no cookies for Santa". It was both the saddest and cutest thing that you have ever seen. At that point we had to pretend to call Santa and tell him not to come, stop all Santa prep and cuddle up in bed. Needless to say she slept between the two of us that night. I was shocked that at such a young age she really understood what was happening and she was not ok with it. ha ha

Santa still came! We figured she would get over it when she saw the goods!

Needless to say she was excited when she woke up and saw her kitchen and baby doll! She has not stopped playing with her toys since and is beyond thrilled. We had a fabulous Christmas day with going to church and spending the day with our little family!! My parents stopped by in the morning to join in on the fun.

That evening we headed down to my sister Adrien's for our annual Weggleland Family Christmas Party. This year we decided to switch things up and went Ugly Christmas Sweater style and had a dance party to boot. Let's just say people did not disspoint in their outfits. I am still so mad I didnt get a picture of everyone because it was hilarious.
Check out that hair...

I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and enjoy this most wonderful time of year! This year has been filled with a lot of changes for our little family and we have been blessed beyond measure. We know that the choices we have made for our family were the right ones and our adventures are only beginning. Thank you to all of you who love and support us from close and from a far. We are grateful for all our friendships, they mean the world to us!

Love,
The Nelson's

O Christmas Tree

Just wanted to give you all an update that our tree is still standing straight up!!! I may be cursing myself by writing this post but I think we may have picked a winner. Although my mom called our tree hideous (ok she said that prior to seeing it so beautifully decorated) we love our little tree and are so excited to celebrate our first Christmas as a family waking up in our own home!

Early Christmas...Modern Family Style

If you watch Modern Family you will think my title is funny...if you don't than move on with the post! ha ha
Since my brother is in residency he gets little to no time off! So that meant we had to take the week off he got and celebrate Christmas early! We tried to fit in some of our Christmas traditions and had a blast with our big, loud, crazy family!

First up: Annual Family Ski Day! Since people still had busy schedules with work and school we did two different ski days. It was so fun to spend the day on the mountain with a smaller group and just relax!

Next up: Christmas Dinner/Chris' Birthday Party!
My mom held a dinner at her house and like always it was delicous and we ate a lot of food. Allen's know how to eat. The dinner was followed by a birthday celebration for my nephew Chris who turned 7! He wanted to have a dance party and boy did we dance. Imgaine all 17 grandchildren and all adults going crazy. Lights out, strobe light going, music blasting. I would have to say it was probably the higlight of my year. Hank has some video on his phone I have to upload. Imgaine Blakely doing a pony step for a straight hour. EPIC!

Ski Day Take 2! The rest of the crew headed up Saturday for another round of ski day. I sat this one out with Blakely but Hank got in on this action and they had a great day.

Thanksgiving California Style

For thanksgiving this year we decided to head to sunny California to spend the weekend with 2 of Hank's sisters that live there. The weekend was filled with all my favorite things....running, eating, shopping, sunshine, a newborn baby girl, and the beach! We couldn't have asked for a better weekend. Thank you Greta for hosting us and thank you Ingrid for bringing beautiful baby Grace into the world so we could snuggle her! Blakely put a kibosh on a lot of my cuddle time with baby Grace, she still holds strong in wanting to be an only child! :)

*my veritcal pictures won't turn so just tilt your head to get the full affect :)
