Transforming industrial emissions into drop-in, carbon-neutral feedstocks for heavy industry

What is the Helix Carbon electrochemical reformer?

It’s more than an electrolyzer.

The Helix Carbon electrochemical reformer is a self contained system that upcycles industrial waste streams back into valuable chemical feedstocks.

The modular, footprint-light system is designed to be installed and operated at industrial facilities wherever a reformer exists today.

By producing a gas mix tunable to match any existing reformer, the Helix Carbon system requires minimal retrofits and no operational disruptions.

The Helix Carbon electrochemical reforming system can produce the exact same syngas as any industrial reformer - but by using industrial waste gases in place of fossil fuels.

Helix Carbon delivers a drop-in system for low-carbon feedstocks

Direct Utilization

The Helix Carbon electrochemical reformer system is robust enough to take in waste streams in their entirety. No carbon capture or pre-separation required.

Intermittent Operation

Helix Carbon’s electrochemical reformer is engineered to follow renewable energy cycles to ensure the lowest cost of delivered gas and the highest abatement potential.

Works with Fossil Fuels

Precise control of syngas ratio means output gasses are chemically identical to fossil fuel reformers, allowing our systems to work in tandem with existing infrastructure.

Image

Scalable

Helix Carbon’s modular design allows integration to start small, adding capacity as demand for zero-carbon products grows and interconnection becomes available.

On-site feedstock production for the most critical industries

Iron and Steel

Helix Carbon’s electrochemical reformer can utilize shaft and blast furnace waste gas directly to create syngas for ore reduction. No carbon capture needed.

Polymers

Helix Carbon reformers recycle carbon dioxide into high purity carbon monoxide for carbon-negative polycarbonate and polyurethane.

Industrial Chemicals

Helix Carbon systems can be placed alongside steam methane reformers to reduce emissions in methanol, urea, and acetic acid production.
