Generation of Simulation Data
Can TOP Server be used to generate simulated data?
The TOP Server Simulator Driver can be used to generate simulated device data. For an example project, open the simdemo.opf file that installs with the TOP Server. This project can be found at C:\Program Files (x86)\Software Toolbox\TOP Server 7\Projects
Please note that the Simulator Driver is intended for testing only and is not suggested for production use.
As an alternative, we offer the the Advanced Simulator Driver and the Memory Based Driver as a part of the Simulator Suite.
The Advanced Simulator Driver can be used to simulate live data from an ODBC source by traversing through all the records in a selected table at a rate set by the user.
The Memory Based Driver can be used to simulate live data and enables users to retain tag values between server runs using an Item Persistence Data File.
