2025-2026 Competitive Event Guidelines
These guidelines are written for ILC. States may have different event processes and deadlines, including upload deadlines! Be sure you check with your local/state advisors (or state websites) to determine what content is required to be uploaded to the HOSA Digital Upload System for all regional and state conferences, and for all processes that may be unique to your state.

2.21.26 CERT Skills Skill I has been clarified.
1.26.26 Mental Health Promotion The subtotal score for the presentation has been updated.
1.16.26 Veterinary Science and Foundations of Veterinary Science have been updated due to a spelling error.
12.27.2025 HOSA History Exam has been added to the Middle School Recognition Events.
12.925 Clinical Specialty and Health Career Photography have a note added about new career listing from NHSCE.
12.2.25 Respiratory Therapy guidelines have been updated to require a manual watch to be provided by competitors.
11.6.25 The guidelines for Hilarity for Charity Recognitions (A & B) have been added.
11.4.25 CERT Skills – Skill III scoring total has been updated.
10.27.25 The link to the ACI AAMI Credential Institute Certification Candidate link has been updated in the Biomedical Equipment Technician Guidelines.
10.23.25 The changes released by AHA will not be reflected in Emergency Events until the 26-27 guidelines.
10.23.25 Biomedical Debate has been updated. 8A was duplicated on the rubric.
10.8.25 Health Career Display has been updated to clarify that a picture of the display board is included in the upload.
10.7.25 MRC Partnership – New requirement for social media posts has been added to the guidelines.
10.7.25 Phlebotomy Skill VIII time has been updated on the rubric.
10.4.25 Points have been added to Skill III step 6j for CERT Skills.
9.30.25 The link for Organizational Behavior has been added to Creative Problem Solving.
9.18.25 Veterinary Science Skill V has been updated due to a repeated skill step.
9.8.25 Health Career Preparation has been reposted with rubric reflecting Statement of Interest being pre-judged.
HOSA Handbook Section B – The Competitive Event Program Consists of the Following:
- General Rules and Regulations – rules pertaining to all competitors in all events
- Competitive Event Appendices – additional forms and processes used as part of the CE Program
- Supplies and Equipment: For all events (especially skill events) a list of equipment to be provided for the competitor by HOSA conference staff are found in Appendix I.
- Specific Competitive Event Guideline files (found below) which include competency based performance rating sheetsth
NGL / Cengage Academic Testing Center
(Secondary, Postsecondary/Collegiate and Alumni)
Competitors may:
1. Participate in as many NGL| Cengage -ATC events at ILC as they wish, if the tests are paid for, and if the competitor can logistically sit to test in events for which they are registered.
2. Enter only ONE regular competitive event at the ILC.
3. Participate in as many Recognition Category Events as they wish.
