HRIDAY engages in multi-disciplinary research, capacity building and undertakes campaigns linked to the prevention and control of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs). It focuses primarily upon addressing NCDs from a health and development perspective, particularly in the context of Goal 3.4 under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Research to inform health promotion strategies and community-based interventions.

Meaningfully involve young persons to be “Youth Health Ambassadors” for improving the health of society.

Embed needs and priorities of People Living with NCDs in policies and programmes.

Advocate and support healthy behaviours and foster an enabling environment for health promoting norms and policies.

Forge partnerships and build networks among multiple stakeholders for sustained health promoting initiatives.

Build capacities of diverse stakeholders to effectively address national health priorities through government programmes and policies.

Convene multi-stakeholder consultations and dialogues with a focus on prevention and control of NCDs.

HRIDAY hosted the First GYM in 2006 with an aim to unify efforts from different sectors and organisations for youth inclusion on various health themes. The successful outcome of the conclave paved the way for the Second GYM in 2009, which was held as a pre-conference workshop to the 14th World Conference on Tobacco OR Health (WCTOH) at Mumbai, India to deliberate and debate on tobacco control issues.  Read More

Students Parliament ON HEALTH

HRIDAY’s Students Parliament is an innovative advocacy tool on health. The education process involves emulating eminent adult role models (Parliamentarians). Individual students were assigned specific roles of Parliamentarians and Ministers. The ‘No More Tobacco in the 21st Century’ (NMT21C) campaign was launched in September 2013 at the International Conference on Public Health Priorities in the 21st Century: The Endgame for Tobacco’ to mobilize youth and young adults to advocate for systemic and policy direction that promote tobacco-free social norms.  Read More
