Mar. 28th, 2010 01:23 pmShaynin and I are almost done watching Dr. No for some couple time together. Or partner time, whatever is appropriate. Our relationship is still more based on professional bonding than anything else and we're both happy with that.
At any rate, the disc rolled over dead just before Bond and Honey meet Dr. No and we're trying to resurrect it, thus far with no success.
I like the idea of the Bond movies, especially the low-tech ones, but Bond himself makes me roll my eyes. Our low opinion of Connery's sex appeal is subjective; that, we can set aside. But so often, he simply seems to be lucky - that whole trope of the antagonists having horrible aim but the protagonists virtually being sharpshooters. Nor am I a fan of the way that he walks straight into traps, forewarned but deliberately leaving himself more vulnerable. I'd almost watch it again to keep count of the near misses and stupid decisions.
We'll surely watch the rest of them for entertainment value but I've quite definitely decided that my favorite secret agent is Miles Vorkosigan.
