I can hear the crickets chirping in here.
I don't use livejournal much anymore. And beyond that, I don't have personal webspace as I did when I started htmlwhores back in 1962. It could have been '61, but I can't remember that far back. So if anyone wants to take over here, let me know.
bye!

Is there a free/cheap web calendar software that allows users to login and see events/appointments etc that have been assigned to them? ...and perhaps allows users to post events/appointments to other users given the right roles? Thanks! x-posted

htmlwhores is closed to new members. I have no time to monitor the community or organize it. Once upon a time, it was going to be a great place for people to exchange ideas, but it never became that.
Thank you to all of you who have posted and kept the community alive. Existing members can still post, if you like. If you would like to take over, tell me your ideas in the comments section of this post. Thanks!

So my office recently asked me have our web page show clsoing notices on our web site. And It had to flash, they wanted it to stand out and be bold. So I made a animated gif in image ready that flashed a Closed sign. But now I'm having problems with browsers caching the notice. We were closed friday, and then today people were still seeing the closed sign. Even if I set IE to check for a new version of the page every visit it wasn't updating, and it's a public site, so I can't control all of the browsers. So how can I post some kind of big flashing text with out being cached? And I added this to the page head
META HTTP-EQUIV="Pragma" content="no-cache"
and it didn't seem to help
thanks

NEED HELP WITH:
- I want the menu to be positioned more to the left.
- I'd like all the menu sections open on startup if possible.
- Contect of the site to go to the right side of the menu and below it. (Should I use a frame for that?)
- A code that keeps people from using CTRL-C.
- Code that takes away the toolbars in a window so people can't select 'View Source'.
Thank you for your help!

My livejournal imagemap links wont align properly, and they're positioned different on each of my pages (calendar, friends, etc.) I have a paid account, so yes, it deals with html instead of overrides. Thanks!

+curiosity+
Hi there! I don't know too much about how to fix up the myspace account I have. I know a little bit about html, but...what I've tried isn't working the way I was intending it to, of course. Though my computer at home is so slow, that could be a good part of it.
Anyone out there think they could help me? I know what I would like (even have some other profiles to use for reference), I just need someone with the patience to help me out.
Thanks so much :)

| Hello all! Newbie soliciting advice... |
[01 Jul 2004|10:09am] |
Cross posted to techgirls, and webdesign...
Let me start by saying I'm a 26 year-old stay at home mom persuing a career in web design. *waves at fellow tech-moms*
I just wanted to ask all of you professional web designers for advice. I'm learning HTML, reading the Dreamweaver Bible and doing various Dreamweaver tutorials--we have our first family website, but hubby did that--and learning Flash. I'm very comfortable with, and enjoy working with, photoshop as well.
There are classes at my local college, basically a course that can be completed in a year to get a WebMaster Certificate. Unfortunately, I'm not sure we can budget for the full course at this point. I would love more than anything to do the course, but as time and money are both issues I'm not sure I can go for the full course.
My question for you web designers is, how did you learn web design? Did you take courses or get a degree? Also, are you enjoying your jobs? I need all the advice I can get! Especially from any other women in my position.
I'm wondering, if I took at least a class or two--not the full schedule--would that suffice? Is it possible to take a web design course to "jump start" the learning process, then maybe teach myself the rest?
Sorry this post is one big question, but I've really been looking for advice. I very much appreciate any advice or guidance anyone might have!
Thanks in advance.
