Protecting the Truth as Filipinos fall for fake history
The battle with disinformation, and how susceptible Filipinos are to propaganda. Much has changed ever since the upsurge in technology, including how news is delivered. Unlike the old times, our grandparents relied only upon the information from newspapers, books, and the television. With various online platforms now accessible to every Filipino, it is apparent that an immense amount of them fail to discern what is and what’s not legitimate news. It is a problem because it’s starting to rewrite our history. A latest report stated that 76 million out of 110 million Filipinos consume media and that 97% of them, as of today, use Facebook, that includes adults, teens, and even children. Most users who spread fake news are even Millenials, that share links on the platform for everyone to see.
