Ακαδημία Τεχνολογίας, Πληροφορικής και Επικοινωνιών (ICT ACADEMY)

📍 Πραγματοποιήθηκε πρόσφατα η ημερίδα «From Awareness to Operations: Building Trustworthy and Accessible Cybersecurity for Europe», που διοργάνωσε το Γραφείο του Επιτρόπου Επικοινωνιών – Αρχή Ψηφιακής Ασφάλειας, στο πλαίσιο του ευρωπαϊκού έργου CY-TRUST.

Η εκδήλωση φιλοξενήθηκε στην Ακαδημία ICT του Γραφείου του Επιτρόπου Επικοινωνιών και συγκέντρωσε περισσότερους από 60 επαγγελματίες, ακαδημαϊκούς και εκπροσώπους οργανισμών που δραστηριοποιούνται στον τομέα της κυβερνοασφάλειας.

Κατά τη διάρκεια της ημερίδας παρουσιάστηκαν σύγχρονες προσεγγίσεις, εργαλεία και πρακτικά διδάγματα από ευρωπαϊκά έργα, με στόχο την ενίσχυση της επιχειρησιακής κυβερνοασφάλειας. Συγκεκριμένα, αναδείχθηκαν εμπειρίες και καλές πρακτικές από τα ακόλουθα έργα:

✔️CY-TRUST, με έμφαση στον σχεδιασμό και τη συντονισμένη λειτουργία διασυνδεδεμένων τομεακών Κέντρων Επιχειρήσεων Ασφάλειας (ΚΕΠ) στην Κύπρο.

✔️SOC4SME, παρουσιάζοντας πώς οι τομεακές υπηρεσίες SOC μπορούν να ενισχύσουν την πρόβλεψη, ανίχνευση και απόκριση κυβερνοαπειλών για τις μικρομεσαίες επιχειρήσεις.

✔️NG-SOC, αναδεικνύοντας τον ρόλο της Τεχνητής Νοημοσύνης στα SOCs νέας γενιάς για ανίχνευση, ανάλυση και αυτοματοποιημένη απόκριση.

✔️SecAwarenessTruss, υπογραμμίζοντας τη σημασία της στοχευμένης εκπαίδευσης και ανάπτυξης δεξιοτήτων για την ενίσχυση της ανθεκτικότητας κρίσιμων υποδομών.

👉 Η ημερίδα επιβεβαίωσε τη σημασία της ανταλλαγής τεχνογνωσίας και της διακρατικής συνεργασίας, καθώς και τη συνεχή επένδυση του Γραφείου σε ευρωπαϊκές συμπράξεις που ενισχύουν την ψηφιακή ασφάλεια σε επιχειρησιακό επίπεδο.

On Tuesday, 27 January 2026, the Office of the Commissioner of Communications hosted the event “Driving Trustworthy AI through Design and Regulation”, dedicated to the implementation of the EU Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act), in cooperation with the Cyprus Organisation for Standardisation (CYS).

The event brought together European and national stakeholders to explore key dimensions of Artificial Intelligence governance — from EU policy and regulatory frameworks to risk-based supervision, conformity assessment, technical documentation, and the critical role of standards in supporting compliance. Participants also had the opportunity to engage with a national AI use case.

A clear message emerged throughout the discussions: successful implementation of the AI Act will depend on strong coordination and continuous dialogue between authorities and the market.

As the National Competent Authority, we remain committed to providing clarity, supporting the market, and strengthening cooperation as implementation of the AI Act progresses.

The Office of the Commissioner of Communications – Digital Security Authority (DSA), in collaboration with the Israel National Cyber Directorate (INCD) and the National Cyber Security Authority (NCSA) of Greece, and in partnership with organizations from the sectors of Energy, Civil Protection, Defense, and Foreign Affairs, organized the large-scale national and regional trilateral cyber exercise “Cy-Quake 2026”. The exercise took place on January 20 and 21, 2026, at the facilities of the ICT Academy of the Commissioner of Communications in Nicosia with the participation of over 80 executives.

The Cy-Quake 2026 exercise is a strategic initiative for developing knowledge and practices for managing national-scale cyber crises. It focused on strengthening the resilience of the energy sector, which serves as a critical pillar for the operation of national infrastructure.

Opening Remarks

Opening remarks were delivered by:
▪️Mr. George Michaelides, Commissioner of Communications.
▪️Mr. Oren Anolik, Ambassador of the State of Israel to the Republic of Cyprus.

In their speeches, they emphasized the critical importance of regional cooperation and the need for collective preparedness against hybrid threats targeting the stability of the Eastern Mediterranean.
Structure of Exercise

▪️Day 1 – Seminar: Analyzed the challenges of the energy sector and national crisis management strategies of the three participating states. Special emphasis was placed on the role of Civil Protection and the management of incidents that exceed routine operational capacities.

▪️Day 2 – Operational Exercise: Focused on an information streaming exercise, where participants managed a dynamic scenario of an escalating crisis.

Cy-Quake 2026 highlighted the value of trilateral cooperation and coordination between various sectors to ensure cyber resilience and public safety in the wider region.

The Digital Security Authority (DSA) announces the successful completion of the in-person phase of the international programme “Cyber Security Operation Defender”, which took place in Nicosia from 12 to 15 January 2026.

The programme, with a total duration of 250 hours, is jointly organised by Israel’s National Cyber Directorate (INCD) and the Israeli Ministry of Labour, the Office of the Commissioner of Communications – Digital Security Authority of the Republic of Cyprus, as well as the National Cybersecurity Authority of Greece. The programme brings together 21 professionals, with seven (7) participants from each country.

The visit to Cyprus was included as an additional educational and cultural experience, offering participants advanced knowledge and specialised skills in the field of cybersecurity, focusing on:
▪️Strategic risk management and implementation of the NIS2 Directive
▪️Simulations and hands-on training in a Cyber Range environment
▪️Development of key soft skills required in today’s modern workplace

As part of the programme, participants visited the CYENS Centre of Excellence, while the activities concluded with an official reception hosted at the residence of the Ambassador of Israel to Cyprus.

A highlight of the visit was the signing of a Declaration of Intent on Thursday, 15 January 2026, in the presence of the Ambassador of Israel, formalising the parties’ intention to maintain and further strengthen trilateral cooperation in the field of cybersecurity.

The Declaration of Intent was signed on behalf of the Commissioner of Communications by Mr Antonis Antoniadis, Director of the Office, alongside Mr Giannis Alexakis, Director General of the National Cybersecurity Authority of Greece, and Mr Gilad Shadmon, Director General of the Ministry of Regional Cooperation of the State of Israel.

The Digital Security Authority extends its best wishes to all participants for the successful completion of the programme and reaffirms its commitment to launching further initiatives and actions that enhance cybersecurity at both national and international level.

Στις 18 Δεκεμβρίου 2025, Κύπρος 🇨🇾 και Μάλτα 🇲🇹 συναντήθηκαν στην Ακαδημία του Γραφείου Επιτρόπου Επικοινωνιών, για να ανταλλάξουν γνώσεις και εμπειρίες γύρω από την κυβερνοασφάλεια, με έμφαση στην υλοποίηση της Οδηγίας NIS2 και τις ευρωπαϊκές ευκαιρίες χρηματοδότησης.

Στις 17 Δεκεμβρίου 2025, στην Ακαδημία του Γραφείου Επιτρόπου Επικοινωνιών, πραγματοποιήθηκε η Συνάντηση Ενδιαφερόμενων Φορέων και Αρχών στον Τομέα της Κυβερνοασφάλειας.

Στη συνάντηση συμμετείχαν άνω των 120 συμμετεχόντων, μεταξύ των οποίων εκπρόσωποι αρμόδιων Υπουργείων, οργανισμών, βασικών και σημαντικών οντοτήτων, ακαδημαϊκών ιδρυμάτων και εμπειρογνώμονες, με στόχο την ανταλλαγή απόψεων και την ενίσχυση της συνεργασίας μεταξύ των εμπλεκόμενων φορέων.

Κατά την έναρξη της συνάντησης, χαιρετισμούς απηύθυναν ο Υφυπουργός Έρευνας, Καινοτομίας και Ψηφιακής Πολιτικής, κ. Nicodemos Damianou, PhD και ο Επίτροπος Επικοινωνιών, κ. George Michaelides.

Η εκδήλωση περιλάμβανε επίσης, παρουσίαση από τον κ. Guido Lobrano με θέμα «Challenges and Opportunities in the EU Tech Rulebook – An Industry Perspective», προσφέροντας μια αναλυτική ματιά στις ευκαιρίες και τις προκλήσεις που προκύπτουν από τις νέες ευρωπαϊκές νομοθεσίες και την εξέλιξη της τεχνολογίας.

Στη συνέχεια, ο Επίτροπος Επικοινωνιών παρουσίασε μια αναλυτική ανασκόπηση των σημαντικών έργων και των βασικών ορόσημων που καθόρισαν την πορεία της Αρχής Ψηφιακής Ασφάλειας κατά την περίοδο 2017–2025, επισημαίνοντας τα κύρια επιτεύγματα, τις στρατηγικές πρωτοβουλίες και τις προκλήσεις που αντιμετωπίστηκαν, καθώς και τον αντίκτυπο τους στον εκσυγχρονισμό της εθνικής πολιτικής στον τομέα της κυβερνοασφάλειας.

Στο πλαίσιο της ενημέρωσης, παρουσιάστηκε η «Επόμενη Μέρα στην Κυβερνοασφάλεια» μέσω συζήτησης πάνελ με τη συμμετοχή του Προϊσταμένου και των Επικεφαλής της Αρχής, κατά την οποία αναλύθηκαν οι τέσσερις βασικοί πυλώνες της κυβερνοασφάλειας: οι κρίσιμες υποδομές, οι μικρομεσαίες επιχειρήσεις, η πιστοποίηση προϊόντων και η κοινωνία και ο πολίτης. Η συζήτηση εστίασε στις στρατηγικές προτεραιότητες, τις προκλήσεις και τις ευκαιρίες για κάθε τομέα, με στόχο την ενίσχυση της εθνικής ασφάλειας στον ψηφιακό χώρο και την προώθηση μιας ολιστικής προσέγγισης στην κυβερνοασφάλεια.

Ακολούθως, ο Δρ Παναγιώτης Μπάρκας παρουσίασε το θέμα «Overview of ENISA Support Action and Cyber Reserve», παρέχοντας μια εμπεριστατωμένη επισκόπηση των δράσεων στήριξης της ENISA και του ρόλου του Cyber Reserve. Επιπλέον, ο κ. Panayiotis Kyriakides, παρουσίασε την ανάλυση του Τοπίου των Κυβερνοαπειλών 2023–2025, ενώ ο Δρ George Hadjichristofi, ανέλυσε το Εθνικό Τοπίο Κυβερνοαπειλών για το 2025.

Τέλος, ο κ. Polyvios Hadjiyiangou αναφέρθηκε στις δράσεις και την υποστήριξη που παρέχει το European Cybersecurity Competence Centre (ECCC), ενώ συζήτησε τον ρόλο της ευρωπαϊκής κοινότητας κυβερνοασφάλειας, εστιάζοντας στον συντονισμό και την ενίσχυση της συνεργασίας μεταξύ των φορέων.
